I love your stories. I was the same way since I was 4 or so. My folks took me to see him in "74 when I was seven. Wouldn't you know I grew up to go pretty far as a tribute artist. He was sent by our Almighty creator as a traveler on this earth......as one of the masterpiece of His masterpieces.....he was predestined by God......the perfection of his body anatomy, his voice, and his human existence....seemingly and immensely greater than ordinary life being lived by many....the glory of his earthly journey will always shine like ''a light on the top of the hill that cannot be hidden''......there will always be an existence of the magnificent splendor of a paradoxical life lived during his life moments.
Hope he someday brings up Sandi Pichon who wrote a few books about Elvis and took thousands of pictures. She knew Elvis, Gladys, Vernon and the extended family and bodyguards. She lived close to Elvis at the 1st Memphis home. She was 14 and Elvis had taken her rides on his bike, Gladys had made lemonade and cookies and invited her in. May she RIP. A great fan of his.
She's right! When I saw him in Vegas. I went to throw away 2 bottles of champagne to the dumpster. At the International Hotel, at that time it was the tallest building in Vegas. We parked there after my best friend got married. So, we polished champagne on a van. It was the most lit up hotel with ELVIS ON THE MARQUEE. BUT: NEVER DIDN'T I THINK I WOULD GET TO BUMP INTO HIM. On my way back two doors opened and OUT CAME ELVIS. HE SAIDCEXCUSE ME AND SO DID I. I LOOKED UP AT HIM AND SAW THOSE SKY BLUE EYES, I JUST FROZE. I WAS 16, AND TOO SHY TO ASK HIM FOR A KISS OR EVEN AN AUTOGRAPH . HE THEN GOT INTO A BLUE MERCEDES BENZ STRETCH LIMO AND FOLLOWED BY WHAT WE KNOW THE MEMPHIS MAFIA BOYS! I TRIED TO GET TICKETS FOR HIS NEXT SHOW, BUT THEY TOLD ME HE WAS SOLD OUT UNTIL '74. SO I WAS SAD. I DID GET TO SEE HIM IN '76 AT THE ANAHEIM STADIUM.
I enjoyed this talk with Shirley Connell sharing so many stories, observations, and wonderful memories about Elvis more than I can remember in a very long time. I wish I could attend one a get her book because I can’t find it online. She definitely brought us a little bit closer to him.
You can find her book by looking her up on fb I think it is. I got it but I can’t exactly remember how I look it up. I sent her a money order and she signed it and sent it to me.

Hi Im from Australia, and could you please tell me where I can buy Shirley's book? Does anyone know if its still available, as I have tried on the internet, always says its unavailable? Thank you !!!
I'm a major fan of Elvis but people said that in school no one liked him and made fun of him so when did all this other stuff start it's just weird to me all this he so this he so that it seems it all started with walking on a stage does being on a stage really make people think differently of that person just asking RIP Elvis
If my thirteen or fourteen year old daughter went to the movie and stayed all night I would have marched down to the theater with her Daddy in hand and took Elvis in private and told him he should know better than allow a young girl to be there at those hours. Then little missy would have had a hard time sitting in school the next day. What kind of parental control did she have? Going to his bedroom??? Unless she had adult supervision she herself should have been more prudent. Looks as though she has passed so I hope she 54:49 has asked forgiveness for the book, etc. 54:10

This lady met Elvis when she was 13, and she felt like a little kid meeting Elvis, which she basically was. Over in Germany was , Elvis’ future wife.....same age.
Cilla was 14 when they met and didn't see her again until she was 17. I don't think there is as big of a comparison as you are seemingly implying. Elvis didn't even have sex with Cilla until their wedding night.
@@dougdickason Priscilla was 13 years old when they met, Priscilla said that herself, and she did see him again before 17 years old, she was talking about it and she went to live over there in Graceland and she went to that school, because she was shaking her paper Elvis I graduated I can stay up all night she was 18 then,,, watch Priscilla's talk shows
@@pamputman4503 its not really a big deal, but Cilla and Elvis met in September of 1959. Priscilla was born in May of 1945. If my simple math still works, that made her 14. I have heard her always say 14 along with everyone else that tells the story. Maybe she misspoke the time you happened to watch. The meeting is well documented in books and online and a quick search should verify my findings. Or, you can look in many of the books on Elvis including, Elvis and Me by Cilla. The unmaking of Elvis Presley also is a book that has the dates. No biggie, I just got the feeling that you were trying to make it even more inappropriate than it was. As far as them meeting again. She came to visit him for 2 weeks in the summer of 1962. Again, my simple math says that makes her age 17 at that time. But yes, she went back to her parents after her summer visit with Elvis and got to finally go to Memphis to finish out her last year of high school.

My parents "grew up" with Elvis as their choice of entertainer.
