A great interview! I have heard that Elvis made $280 Million personally over his career and died with only $7 million in assets with no investments other than Graceland. Of course Jewelry, cars, and toys. But no stock or bonds. Because he both spent it on everyone or gave it away to everyone close to him and much Anonymously to area people in need including charities. It’s as though he felt undeserving of the wealth. It is said he spent much of his life openly asking those close to him “Why Me, why did I become this Elvis person”?
Real fact: Elvis made about 4 (four) BILLION dollars throughout his career, according to JD Sumner (look up for JD's interview on UA-cam) . According to the same JD Sumner, in the same statement, Elvis gave away more than half of those earnings. Now, I don't know if JD was referring to the amount at the time Elvis was around or if he meant the value at the time of the interview (somewhere during the '90ties) but that is the amount he mentioned.
I haven't been to Graceland yet, i'm expecting to hear Welcome to my world playing all around the tour.Even though he has been gone all these years, I do expect to feel his presence there. I'm excited just thinking about walking on the same floors he walked. I attended one of his live concert$ and I remembered thinking, OMG I am in the same room as Elvis, he is breathing the same air that I am! Elvis lived at Graceland! He loved that place. He played with his little Lisa Marie in that house and sadly, he breathed his last breath there. He will never die away from my heart, my memory.
I am so glad that I am 71 years old. I get to hear all the stories .every show I warch, I learn more. So great. I hope I learn for another 10 years of information on Elvis.thanks to the internet, google, etc.
When Elvis fired Parker in 73 Parker wrote up all he was owed came to 2 million , Vernon persuaded Elvis to rehire him as they didn’t have it Elvis said we can get it daddy lets fire the old goat but he relented when Vernon showed him his bills .. that was the moment Elvis actually died !
I can't believe that anyone can praise Parker that criminal who played the biggest part in depriving him of fulfilling his dreams. The stress alone from that voulcher Parker was enough to kill him, he robbed Elvis along with the rest of the voulchers that were around him. Most of them took full advantage of his generosity and kindness and didn't give a damn about him or his well being.Elvis carried them all on his back.
Precious pearls. Charlie Stones’ memory is as clear and lucid as a crystal lake. Beautiful gems spilling from his lips. .✨Thank you Stig for your great line of questions, your fine personality too in hosting this interview. You have a way of letting your guests feel comfortable and easy.
When Mr. Stone says Elvis could Not do the show in Tokyo, what he did not say, is Col. Parker would Not be able to travel to Tokyo, because he was in America illegally, that's why Col. Parker screwed Elvis out of over sea tours.
The really unfortunate thing was apparently it would not have been that hard at all for that secret Dutchman to become a naturalized citizen. Elvis and Millions of fans cheated of wonderful experiences.
Sure, the Colonel wasn`t the devil fans have made out of him. But with all respect, he sure wasn't the angel Mr. Stone try to make out of him. If you look at the late Elvis concerts, especially Oklahoma and Houston, both 1976 i think, what kind of a good caring Manager let this poor, ill man on stage? Even if Elvis wanted to go on stage, and i think in the majority of cases he wanted to, the Colonel had a responsibility for him. After all, he takes the money and let it run.
I think Charles Stone's was so afraid of his boss. I also think even duo he was afraid of his boss,,he was in a spot which one makes more money..his boss or elvis. What's was so sad about this story is when Charles Stones said he didn't go to elvis Funeral Service..but yet he went to his boss Funeral Service .. WOW 😭😭😭😭 So mess up.
He did go to Elvis house before the funeral. He didn’t own a suit. The people got put off with him coming in with a Hawaii shirt to Elvis house. But he went to Work taking care of the business end of Elvis cause he knew his records and his stuff was going to sell like Crazy so he made sure the stuff was available and there got to be lots of music out there to sell. I know he got profits too but he made sure the money got to Priscilla and Lisa. The colonel could have taken off and not done any of it. But he took care of it.
Elvis worked more than an hour a night! The man did 3 movies a year plus 2 to 3 shows a night during his touring years. Plus he still holds the record for most performances and sold out tickets in Las Vegas. They both had their part, Colonel did the business end of things, and Elvis did the entertaining.
Col Parker was a illegal immigrant from Holland n that is why he didn't want Elvis to do concerts over seas as he was afraid of getting caught. That was not his real name n ot a Col. He worked Elvis to death n Elvis had to be on stage even when he had the flu. The skinny was a big gambler n had over a million dollars in debt n took Elvis money to pay debts. He worked him too hard.
Well said! The colonal once came up to Elvis suite while his hairdresser was there...Larry something....the door to Elvis's bedroom opened and his doctor was dunking Elvis's head into a bowl of ice water to get him going (he was in bed) Larry was horrified....the door shut when he was seen watching....then the colonal went in and Larry expected him to put a stop to it and let Elvis rest.....out comes the colonal....Larry waits a bit facing up to the colonal then says "you cant be seriously ok with THAT!??"....The colonal replied "so long as my boys on that stage i dont care what it takes" and apparently just walked out!! Nice guy.....poor fricking Elvis...
The Colonel had many people fooled for many years, but the more time goes by and more is revealed the worse he appears and I'm sure it will continue that way.
I heard a story where Elvis was on stage during a show feeling sick (flu?) and had to cut the show short. Elvis gave full refunds to all of the paying customers for that show.
I don't really know either way...but what I'm hearing is Charles has a devotion to the Cirnel...definitely not Elvis! There were a few times through this interview that I just didn't believe him! It was pretty telling when he spoke about Elvis's movie career...too many people knew Elvis wanted more from movies...Barbara Streisand would have come out publicly and said "I never offered him the part" I feel like Charles cheapened Elvis movie career when he spoke about it!
There are a lot of untruths being told here. There is no mention of Elvis being locked into recording only Hill and Range material. There is no mention of so much more contradictory information. It was common knowledge within the industry the truth of the relationship between Parker and Elvis. It's obvious Mr Stone is quite pro-Parker. I would have appreciated a more balanced view. However I still appreciate the posting, Stig.
Tom Parker to get 50% of Elvis money is insane, ya Elvis didn't have to do anything, without his face, tom Parker doesn't get a penny so ya tom Parker didn't mind putting out know how much he was gonna bring in, bottom line is tom Parker should have not have gotten more than 15% of Elvis money, Elvis could of had anyone manage him,
Elvis didn't even needed a band just the three of them did in the beginning and made it. He just got too big for the people. We the fans wanted him. He was so gorgeous we couldn't get enough of him. LOVE OUR ELVIS💋💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙
Exactly. It was Elvis`s name they were selling, not Tom Parkers. Elvis didn`t need Tom Parker to cash in on his name. Tom Parker needed Elvis. This interviewer is really bad. He is letting Charles Stone off the hook for no reason. Charles Stone was loyal to Tom Parker, not to Elvis. I emailed Charles Stone and asked why he didn`t book Elvis at big outdoor venues like Wembley Stadium or Shea Stadium. "Elvis didn`t like the rain" was the answer. Every other major artist did stadium tours and became filthy rich while Charles Stone and Tom Parker made Elvis do 5000-8000 seat arenas night after night, week after week. It doesn`t make economical sense at all. Elvis was the biggest star in the world. You don`t treat him as if he were Liberace, or Wayne Newton. You treat him as a KING. A good manager or promoter would never have booked a major star like Elvis Presley to a small arena. You would find the biggest venue, and book him there instead.
Mr. Stone is 100% wrong when it came to the money split with Col. Parker and Elvis. Parker was getting 50% of all revenue he took in by the time Elvis died. A federal judge threw out this arrangement on behave of Lisa Marie after Elvis died. When it was found out the Col. got 50% fee it blew everyone's mind why Elvis would have done this as normal fees are anywhere between 10% and 15%. He bilked Elvis out of so much money it's not funny. Also the merch agreement, the Col. ended up getting more than 50% and also charged his management fee out of the percentage that Elvis got. Basically double dipping his fees. We all know now that the reason he did this was because he was a degenerate gambler.
This Charles Stones talks so much crap. He probably didn't get enough himself. He would be the same as Colonel, pure greed and nothing else. Big friends selling all he ever gave them plus all his life info. Those are their stories and often just out of jealousy. Luckily, it was Elvis and not some other guy, Elvis was truly special whether he had problems or not. I think we all struggle with something. No one is perfect so lets stop throwing STONES!!
He explained that from the programmes, advertising, bookings etc. that were sold at the venues, the Colonel arranged payment and took responsibility for - but Elvis got 50% of the profits. You would have to look at the accounts to understand how all their expenses were distributed.
Elvis didn't get half of the merchandise, he ended up with like 5-10% of Boxcar. When Elvis sold his rights to all his recordings prior to 1973, Elvis got 4.5 million and Parker got 6 million. This include other deals on top of the $5.4 million for the catalog. Once a Carny, always a Carny.
Elvis had to sell them because prisilly had taken Elvis to court for more money yet again. TParker was working with prisilly. they both killed Elvis all because of greed.
The Colonel Ripped Elvis off. His right, he was the devil. How could he take 50% of Elvis' earnings. He was addicted to gambling. He didn't even have the decency to wear a suit to Elvis' funeral. What a cold greedy man. This Charles Stone guys doesn't seem to like to talk about Elvis. Listen to what he said at ths end when he was told that he could do this every year .he said " And we can talk about other thing too other than Elvis" Do I detect a bit of jealousy there..hmmm? You have Elvis to thank just for sitting there being interviewed about ELVIS!!! This is all about Elvis. We're only interested in Elvis why would you want to talk about anything else.. People watch these videos because we love Elvis. Quite honestly I have never heard of you before.
Elvis sang the songs which col. owned the publishing rights to in the movies. He ripped Elvis off terribly! Even when Elvis died the first thing Parker did was have Vernon sign bogus contracts giving away the royalties of his future records compalations.
@@bigbang323 no he didn’t. First Priscilla wouldn’t participate in the case. He was sued by EPE. He had every penny accounted for. The people who sued had to pay for the colonel legal fees. The judge agreed that it was too high but it wasn’t showing that he cheated Elvis. So no! They didn’t beat the colonel in court. Charles stone just told the story. Right here. This guy is so nice and good at what he did.
The colonel and Elvis owned half the publishing for the songs. But when Elvis found out some people wouldn’t let Elvis sing a song if he didn’t get half the publishing. Elvis said I don’t care. If I want to sing a song I’m going without the publishing. As soon as Elvis did that he started to her songs like suspicious minds. Mac Davis would write songs for Elvis after that with only a small part paid to Elvis. Like 10%.. Elvis gave MAc Davis a Line or two and mac Davis wrote a song for Elvis. One song was memories. Pressed between the pages of my mind. Mac Davis took the lines and wrote the song. Mac Davis even wrote the musical parts of it. Mac Davis used to go to Elvis home in Memphis. Graceland. To see Elvis. If he had a song in mind he’d go pitch it to Elvis. If Elvis liked it he’d sing it. Also Red wrote songs a few for Elvis. One song Red wrote was of everyday be like Christmas. Elvis like Red writing some. Because if he thought of something he could tell red cause he was right there.
Great great questions. Charles you were there I wasn’t. Here is my opinion. First you say Parker didn’t rip him off. 50. 50 split. All them side deals Elvis knew nothing about. Box car. & to ask four a million for him now what about the boy that goes to show you how he held him back Rather have him playing some hick town. Over & over. The last couple of years they hardly spoke Elvis did not like to be around him HE wore long sleeves and pants on vacation in March. His weight that’s why. ELVIS. didn’t sing what he wanted kept getting these shitty songs because they wanted the publishing right. All the good song writers said no way. Parker. Old school sure he did great deals for Elvis. Better deals for HIM He always told Elvis he would always keep him a millionaire. Ok. What happened to all the rest. If he loved Elvis so much. With all his influence how come he didn’t try to stop. Sonny and reds book. Like I said. You knew him. I didn’t. CHARLIE. LOOKS LIKE HE. CONNED-YOU TO. We will see how. TOM HANKS portrays him. That will be his legacy. Great interview. Like RED WEST said. Parker made him what he was. And put him where he is.
I don't buy it. Sorry I think this is set up to soften people up towards Parker for the next movie. Yeah they got paid separate 50/50 that's not including the sales from the merchandise.
The reason why he didn't go to funeral was because our King wasn't dead then. He was just had enough and needed to get away. He was tired. He was afraid that people would stop loving him and his music. He didn't wanted to be booed off the stage... Love him and look from how he saw things.
What BS!! ELVIS's name, image was used everywhere and you are telling people he hasn't done anything. Colonel was making so much of him and of course he wanted more so he came with idea how to do it.
He does great interviews . I have to say I hardly understand anything he says even though he’s talking English. Charles stone has a great way of talking to people too.
So Tom Parker turned down a million dollar offer for Elvis for ONE show in Tokyo, while he had Elvis playing Vegas for $ 150 000 a week where Elvis had to do two shows a night, 7 days a week. How can anybody argue that Tom Parker was a good manager for Elvis?? The math is simple. In Vegas, Elvis had to do 14 shows for $ 150 000. In Tokyo, London, Sydney they offered at least $ 1000 000 pr show, which means that Elvis lost out on tens of millions in revenue because Tom Parker refused Elvis to perform outside of the U.S. If they were willing to offer Elvis $1 million pr night in Tokyo, or in London why didn`t they book him for 10-14 nights and make 14 million out of a two week residence in a big international capital? Elvis could have sold millions of concert tickets worldwide. The demand for Elvis concerts in Europe, Asia and Australia was huge, and promoters were willing to make Elvis the richest star in the world if he was willing to do a world tour, but Tom Parker said no, and forced him to work his ass off for pocket change in Vegas instead. Elvis lost a lot of money because of Tom Parker. He held Elvis back.
Wow, must be nice to be blessed with a talented , beautiful voice .. you only work one hour a night & make millions!!! Elvis must have felt that colonel deserved 50 % bc he worked his magic marketing skills. & his genius idea to have him serve in the army .. boy did that make Elvis even more popular with his fans! Elvis got more movie contracts & he was just on fire 🔥 on top of his incomparable singing voice.

I only wished he asked about Elvis Presley 's health. He was pushed to perform when he was unwell.

I am unable to find his new book online.
I don't buy it. Sorry I think this is set up to soften people up towards Parker for the next movie.
Yeah they got paid separate 50/50 that's not including the sales from the merchandise.
Parker even took his management fee out of the money that Elvis got as well. He double dipped.
The reason why he didn't go to funeral was because our King wasn't dead then. He was just had enough and needed to get away. He was tired. He was afraid that people would stop loving him and his music. He didn't wanted to be booed off the stage... Love him and look from how he saw things.
😂
Love these videos - hate the intro music
He favors Kenny Rogers. Even his voice.
America has plenty of Scandinavian immigrants going back to the early 20th century !
Needed a suit jacket to cover the fat stomach for interview ?😂😞
Colonel was good manager
Wow, must be nice to be blessed with a talented , beautiful voice .. you only work one hour a night & make millions!!! Elvis must have felt that colonel deserved 50 % bc he worked his magic marketing skills. & his genius idea to have him serve in the army .. boy did that make Elvis even more popular with his fans! Elvis got more movie contracts & he was just on fire 🔥 on top of his incomparable singing voice.
