I'm glad to see Ben smiling again. It'd been a while since he seemed happy with his life choices.
so happy it made it through the flood
This is both wholesome and one of the best unintentional roasts I've seen in a while.
I mean, between the flood and Missus the MRS (I just got that joke) being her usual capricious self, he didn’t have an easy few months. I’m glad that everything is looking up again! ^^
@@MostDopeGlizzy Dude that flood would have destroyed me. Really awesome seeing things coming together.
this tbh
From an mr2 owner: i admire you for sticking with this platform. They can be such a pain
I looked at one of these for so long but lack of off the shelf options (into the UK at least) turned me off.
Went with an r53 mini instead
I track one of these. I haven't had any issues with it. What issues have you been having with it?
Maybe an optimistic assumption by me, but might the dev work done by builds like this help MR2 owners everywhere further down the line?
I own two of them. They really aren’t a pain at all.
Enjoying the process!
the subtle syncing the music with Mark working from @5:50 to @6:10 is something that I really enjoyed . I'm not even sure if it was intentional or not, but having him leave the frame perfectly on the breaks in the music was so satisfying
I was wondering if anyone else noticed that 😊
Came to the comments to see if others noticed it too. Editing is legit.
This power issue is spanning multiple episodes and is driving me nuts! If it isn’t compression and it isn’t electrical, then it must be fuel! Injector flow test? Fuel pump pressure under load? Duty cycle at max? Fuel filter!? 😂 Really enjoying the series. ❤
"Its your fuel map. Its got a nasty hole. Thats why you're rolling in 3rd" - Jesse F&F
@@Shorty15c4007 lmao watch it actually be this...
It’s going to be something simple, electronic or the fuel pump like you said probably. They have a tendency to forget the simple stuff, cause they like upgrading parts
Maybe cam is out by one tooth?
@@jackwetaI was wondering that. Worth a check
I want to say, I know you guys don't always get high view numbers, but for those of us who do watch, we get excited when you post!!
From Saturday morning cartoons to Saturday morning Car-Tunes. Look forward to G&G and Speed Academy every Saturday.
Well said!!@@mm8436
I had to go back and look after this comment because I always assumed each video was good for 500k views. The effort and quality that goes into these videos is unmatched.
I find it odd, with 1.16 million subs, only 10% of that actually watch the videos and even out of that 10% view count, most of it probably isn’t even subbed.
@@nrvsauto8990 UA-cam changed the algorithm so subscribers don’t mean anything. I don’t even get their videos recommended to me even though I’m a subscriber. TheSmokingTirePodcast had an interesting conversation about this recently.
When the time comes for a matching carbon fiber front splitter reach back out and we'll get y'all to one of the Zebulon manufacturing facilities in either Colorado or Pennsylvania for an in depth look at the manufacturing processes. Keep up the good work!!!
Marc has to be one of the coolest guys.
real rx
LSD makes a world of difference in a mid engine car. When I swapped in my TRD LSD in my SC MR2 the cornering exit speeds and overall traction at a dig was astronomically better. More predictable and controllable closer to the limit. So happy to see you sticking with the MRS we are rooting for you!.
This is exactly what I was thinking the car needed. Not just an LSD, but a rear wing. This MR2 needs as much rear stability as it can get for those corners. Done properly this car will go even quicker
Been shouting massive rear wang and LSD ever since the first shakedown of this car way before racing...
I winder why it took them so long to install😂
Oh so you mean to tell me setting up a car properly makes it better?!?
i mean even when people tune normal road cars when the horse power gets too high the first thing they put on is better tyres the second is LSD and if thats not enough they change the suspension
@@sangerzonnvolt6712 not really.. most road car people wont bother with rear wing and whats more of a LSD...
But this mr2 destined to be track car fron the beginning... They should have put the rear wing and front splitter while they were sending the car for widebodykit job to make things easier and simpler...
While installing LSD for track use definately a must...
Even in most 1make series racing, all cars running LSD for corner exit traction and stability at speed
Suggested mods for track car:
1-power
2-tyre
3-suspension
4-brakes
5-LSD
6-bigger final drive (for faster acceleration and using all 6speed ratio available)
7-aero
(In no particular order) is a must for a track racing car no matter what championship or event one planning to enter...
*Unless the event didnt allow certain upgrades (usually in 1make series)
If one planning to be competetive regardless...unless sunday casual driver planning to drive at the back of the pack.. 😂
The fact that they were putting it off for so long made me feel like this sort of thing is really beyond their scope. Glad they wisened up
Seeing all the guys together is like the gears and gasoline forming their own avengers…..the aven-gears
Substitute the wood splitter for a similar thickness extruded PVC sheet its lighter and more forgiving. It can also be heated and bent into a shape so you can add some up swoops in the trailing edge of the splitter for more aero efficiency. Weight savings can be had by routing out pockets that go about 1/2 way deep from the top behind the bumper.
I can listen to John and Mark's insights about engines all day😅
BABE another gears and gasoline video just dropped
Sooo nice to see the MR-S getting faster! although the tuning route is the same as other GLTC cars but hey, just the MR-S itself is unique enough!
I remember watching old Video Option from the Techno Pro Spirit MR-S and the builder said the one of the most significant mods was to relocate the gas tank, made a huge deal (sorry for bad english)
I may have MR2 bias, but this is shaping up to be one of my favorite automotive arcs. Love the improvements you all have made, and to see you feeling in tune with the MR2- excited to see what’s next!
As a Spyder owner I am very happy to see both the wing and LSD combination improved your lap time and confidence! Next you should consider a front and rear strut setup. I found a few tenths with this. There are still more things that you have not yet done to keep the weight within spec and improve straight line speed/stability, looking forward to seeing your progress 😎
Patience and hardwork pays off. Nothing makes me happier in this series than seeing Lin with a smile on his face and progression being made! Keep it up Ben!
Great video fellas. Colby seems like such a cool, knowledgeable, and patient teacher.
Really great to see the MR-S continue to improve, even if it’s not quite the way Lin envisioned.
Laguna Seca is going to be spectacular and so much fun for us viewers.
Good luck to you both and to Marc as he tries desperately to keep these cars running!
Amazing content as always. This years mr2 vids are easily the most entertaining. Interesting conversations, testing, trial and error, small improvements. It has all the components and personalities it needs. Thanks
Ben I genuinely wish i could congratulate you because watching your videos makes it always feel more real and personable than any other car channel. Please keep up the quality content!!!!
I love Coby’s enthusiasm. Glad you have him around
Man the quality of your videos is unreal!!! Literally like im watching a documentary every episode, beautifully captured and edited. The voice overs, the cinematics with a balance of raw footage absolutely magnificent thank you for sharing this with us.
Couldn't agree more. Quite an experience watching their videos now.
12:59, goes to show what a real pro driver does. Heel and toes and primes the brakes before a tight corner. The Ben’s needs to do this
No one else realize the time lapse was on beat with the music? That's some dope editing right there.
So happy to see you finding some success with this car. Can't wait to see you race again.
Also, CHECK YOUR FUEL PUMP/INJECTORS
as a fellow mr-s owner, it feels great seeing the car move forward!
I've been waiting for this episode, the car is a lot more fun when you can trust it, good luck at Laguna Seca!
The missus… I like that! The name suits her!
Listening to those two being so in sync is a real treat! There is just something about people who have perfected the hell out of their craft.
9:54 Also the missus looks absolutely badass in that shot!
FINALLY Aero that's exactly what you should've done since the beginning. This car is so unbalanced that it's going to change everything.
Awesome video all around. Marc making new connections with transmission experts. Ben thrilled to find some time and feel payoff from the MR2 platform. A great splitter build segment.
Smiles all around, and it’ll just keep getting better
Having watched GLTC and waiting for your Laguna Seca episode feels like reading a manga/novel and waiting for its anime/movie adaptation.
This is me realizing this is my grown up replacement for Saturday morning cartoons
Happy for you Ben. You didn't give up and you've developed a competitive race car.
5:52 the pauses in the song synced when there isnt anyone on screen is satisfying ty editor
I feel the editing on this channel keeps getting better and better.
Literally insane. It's like watching a short movie recently. incredibly well done.
Great video, as always. These updates are shaping up to be one of my favorite series on youtube overall, and seeing the process of fitting an LSD was really great to see since I've been considering the same for my car once it hits the track more often. Definitely looks worth it, but also like a complete pain in the ass. Keep up the great work!
I am so hyped up to see this run at Laguna. One of my favorite builds I’ve ever seen because I’ve always been so curious about the MR-S. Seeing you tease out all the unique characteristics of this car is amazing! Keep it up!
5:47 the time lapse to music synchronization in this sequence is quality editing. Every time the beat drops out Mark disappears from the scene. Chefs kiss 🤌🏽
I bought my own Mr-s after seeing you buy one and having seen the review TDIB did. these cars are just incredible and hopefully soon ill start getting mine ready for some real fun.
happy to see progress! the MRS with i think one year of development is getting real close to the Civic that has +3 years of development and is basically finished as a project car. It has potencial!
I think you should also take a bit of inspiration from the Techno Pro Spirit MR-S that appeared a few times on Hot Version in Japan. That little monster with just a basic 2ZZ swap, small tires, and stock brakes absolutely PUNISHED the competition on the Gunsai touge and really went to work at Tsukuba as well. Made Tsuchiya's personal super-tuned hachiroku look like a bucket of bolts. Along with Jordan Cox's Civic at Bathurst, the Spirit MR-S is probably the greatest David v Goliath car of the last decade. And, I'm sure the guy who built it knows a thing or two about making those cars turn.
Sounds like a good driver, nothing more. Not sure what inspiration can be taken from that.
@mitchellsteindler They use the same 3 drivers for every car on that show. When you're laying enormous, embarrassing gaps on Nob Taniguchi and Keiichi Tsuchiya Himself, it's not just the driver. The car is in the top-5 fastest sector times on the Gunsai touge, faster than any tuned GT-R, BMW, or Porsche GT3 that's been tested. It just has nutty cornering speed and superb balance.
@JETZcorp so a 200 hp, otherwise stock mr2 is faster than a gt3
@mitchellsteindler Well first of all, it's definitely not "otherwise stock". It's a widebody car with custom suspenson and aero. But, on the Gunsai touge first sector, yes it set a better time than a 991 GT3. That's a ridiculously tight, narrow, bumpy course that represents a typical Japanese mountain pass (touge). It's almost as tight as an autocross, but with even fewer straight sections. On the Nürburgring, it would obviously get obliterated.
so I don't see how your comment is relevant to cars on an actual race track
Best car channel on UA-cam at the moment. Keep killing it.
Super exciting to see the development of this car, honestly makes me think about getting an MR-S
This is the episode I've been waiting for! It's always satisfying seeing the work on known issues. I'm excited to see your progress from here!
Coby's attitude is so contagious 😄
So glad your finally becoming happy with the car, it's been great watching you learn and try, now hopefully watching you succeed.
Crongrats Ben! Very inspiring perseverance with this tricky build.
Another great video! Happy that your getting the car set up to be faster and more important you being more confident behind the wheel.
Love the videos and glad to see your making progress. Definitely think you would benefit from endplates on that front splitter as everyone knows how these make rear wings more efficient the same is true with front splitters too. Trapping any air mass flowing across the edge of splitter before it spills off the end raises its pressure, thus provide downforce
Next time you do the caulking, run some painters tape to remove afterwards. That will give you that clean line along the airdam and splitter.
I love these videos. I’m pretty new to time attack and making good progress as a driver… these videos motivate the hell out of me!
So glad to hve watched this series from day one! So stoked to see how far the car has come!
Ben, i am happy for you to make progress.
You are usually more upbeat, but ever since the MR2 has become your Track Tool, your whole (public?) demeanor has had a solid shadow cast over it.
Anticipating that this year as proven tough and challenging i wish you success.
Always a good heart racing moment when things finally starts going the way you want it to. Great job to you and your team! Keep them videos coming 👍
Very happy for you its been really exciting seen the progression!!
Loved this video. Progress makes us all feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Never threw shade or hate bro! Just glad things finally worked out in your favor. Love the build bro
I love watching the content you guys out out. It’s like watching the armature version of drive to survive for GLTC.
Love this 🙏. This whole video is amazing, this is how you make content. Congrats guys
this is my first time seeing a gears and gasoline video, and this was satisfying AF!
I'm happy for you guys! I was getting frustrated about the MR2 and really wanted to see it perform. I hope you guys find that power issue too!
Yesssss, happy you are finally figuring it out. Congrats man!!!
All the "I told you so" aside we're glad it's starting to come together, even if turning your car into like everybody else's wasn't the plan. Process is being made! Also I see where you were trying to come from. It's the Spoon Logic of less is more aero wise. And balance and power is where it's tuned from and maybe you'll get there one day on that chassis but this is the easiest way until you can get there!
From where I'm standing, it was the adding of ballast and where it was located (pretty much passenger footwell area) that cemented the adding of rear aero being the solution. It wasn't as apparent at the beginning that the added weight was, as Coby says, lifting the rear tires more than the fronts. The "I told you so's" are right, but arriving to this solution with better understanding is part of why it's more fulfilling and engaging to watch. Kind of a "House MD" approach, if you will.

Chris Rado's tC was the stuff of legends. Absolute madlad.
the videos that G&G are uploading are therapy for me, it truly relaxes me.
These are the best auto content on youtube since UNDERDOGS the subaru brothers. Keep it up!
this video made me soooooo happy for ben L. !!! I couldn't stop smilling throughout the vid .
sick video ! Love to see all the steps to make the car as you want it to be
Absolutely loving the development of this
Its so good to see such improvement! Can't wait till next race.
In City Racer, an online racing game that has been in service for 20 years in Korea, many users say they wish the Toyota MR2 model would be released.
Appreciate all the hard work and your service, Mark!
Great Video
Finally, you are truly enjoying the car... it's always a hit and miss gam, but it's what makes it ymthat much more enjoyable when you do get it right..
Good to see some progress dropping times at the track! Keep with it we wanna see a podium!!!
Im so invested in this series. Im also not indifferent to the difference a different diff makes!
Bro said a few hours away in Illinois. He lives in central Virginia. He drove half way around the country for our entertainment. Dam bro respect.
Watching your progress with this car has been very satisfying!
Another great video - looking forward to the Leguna Seca video.
12:00 Ben L: "It's infinitely more predictable ... like driving a Miata"
All Miata owners: 🎉🥳💥💪
Loving this series
Enjoying the serie, thumbs up!
love the music sync with the time lapse of engine install!
I'm so hype to see the Laguna Seca video!
Awesome!! Wish my spyder had an lsd, I do occasionally spin the rear a little at low speeds but that’s mostly because of the turbo spinning up which does add a little rear weight even though my exhaust out the turbo is about 2 feet long vs the spiral snake with the massive muffler that it used to have so I wouldn’t say its a lot heavier. I should also mention i run 17x9 wheels and eventually way to change the rear to 17x10. Also i was one of the ones who said big wing, less power, less weight go check it.
Glad to see Ben is happy with the improvements to the MR-S, can't wait to see how well both cars do at Leguna
I am very happy to see this start being competitive. You deserve it.
I need MORE!!!! 😫 This is my medicine lol. Loving the content. I really think now is when the MR2 is gonna surprise people. That wing ❤
Great vid, fun to see the development. A 718 GT4 on Hoosiers is sub 2:00 at VIR all day though, plenty of vids out there
You should be proud of what you have accomplished with it! Predictability is a huuuge step forward for the driving feel
making this MR2 work is dedication
Hyped to see the Laguna Seca video!
This is the good stuff baby. Progress. Can't wait to see it running hot laps.
Hey Ben! Awesome video and glad to see the mr2 is headed in the right direction! Now I am not an expert just seeing things that I may not understand, but with the height of the air dam in the front, the area behind it right at the lower grill, would the air dam create a low pressure zone behind it with that being that tall? Like I said I am no expert but seems like that harsh edge may cause that at least a little
Now, just to unlock the issue with power. So crazy how this thing is just fighting you that way!
Can't wait to see how you do in the next race!
This episode was just pure art for the soul
That Driver was whipping those corners!
Ben you need to catch up boy 🏎️
Great Content
18:34 nice caulk
Frankenstein Motorworks is actually a killer name, can't believe no one had thought of it!
What about motorstein frankenworks?
That was pretty cool to see them listen and it actually worked! My comment made it in the video too lol
