If anybody has any pull with Factory Five/ Dave, please get this back into production,.. the GD wrx's are getting rusty & parted out. This gives the subaru builders (me incl) a place to continue our drivetrains & tuning & collected parts etc.. they rarely come for sale & already built, this keeps the wrx crowd alive at a reasonable price.
it's feel like DIY car, happy to see this car
I also am a bug-eye WRX owner ... I would like to request this car come back... And for a stage 2 build on this... Do the hybrid ej257 with ej207 heads... Double head gaskets iag oil pickup tube oil pan oil air separator throw some killer bee parts on it... Bring Mike from Moto IQ... He's like the Bob Ross of mechanical engineering! That would be an awesome awesome stage 2 build for this not that the EcoBoost is not fun but that should be an EJ... It should absolutely 110% be an EJ
Did you know if there a sign petition to Factory Five to bring this car back?
I find it odd that this video is being uploaded now. The 818 is not even available to purchase at the moment.
All I can say is I hope the new Subaru gearboxes are a lot stronger than the earlier versions. Traditionally the early versions would destroy 2nd gear very soon after any boost increase.
I had a 2019 Crosstrek. 2nd gear was janky out of the box 🤣
You need a sti 6 speed more robust then the 5 speeds were
@@rico55pr1 Dude; it WAS a 6-speed
Different trans from a sti 🤣 gears ratio and the internals dude
@@rico55pr1 Yeah; you caught the name "Subaru", right? I agree that it MIGHT be different ratios, but the internals are identical from the factory. Worked on them for years. STI is a trim level and software tune. The parts is parts.
My bro...what wheels are those on the black car?!
You would never see me use the Subaru engine Because I basically have to pull the motor to swap the spark plugs, And the transmission unless it is built by a third party I am not dealing with it because you try to put enough power in it Anything over 500 And those teeth are gonna shear themselves apart
Plenty of room in the engine bay of the 818 to swap Subaru spark plugs. You also don't need, nor could you put down, over 500 hp in the 818. You can't get enough rear tire under it unless you fabricate custom fender flares.
Pack some spare coolant tubing if you go to the track 😂
No Ford parts in Timbuktu?
I need a factory five car in my lofe it's just hard to decide what to get.
'33 Hot Rod or Pickup.
@carbonfiber8071 for me it's the 33 as I'm near the beach and it's perfect for cruzn but the pick up looks sweet.
@@kanenstuff It's their best kit besides the '65. I've got a GTM and the body was trash. I'd look at Race Car Replicas if I were going to buy another component car. Way better quality.
@@carbonfiber8071 best I stick with my classic Nissan 180SX or Australian muscle car.
Dallara Stradale in tubolare
How much $ was spent?
Close to 40k
Its not an emm kay 4. its an abbreviation for mark 4 as in gen 4. just saying.
Oh my god dude drives me so insane.... Listen to people refer to Volkswagens as an MK3 or an MK four.... Like, no that's a mark 2... Like the Lincoln that says MKV on the side of it that actually says Mark 5 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
🤣
I'd love to build one of Factory Five's cars, but here in CA it's a nightmere to get one registered. Main reason I bought a '72 RS/SS Camaro some years back as my now-retirement project. "75 and earlier--no smog rules.
I hear you there, my friend. 😢 Have fun with the Camaro. 👍
wow easy build
Windshield wipers? Heater? Air con? Defroster? Is this for the street or is it a track-only device?
It's a track purpose car that some states will allow you to register for street driving as a kit car. It's not really meant for daily driving or comfort.
Lmao I’ve had countless daily drivers with non operational heaters/defrosters, let alone A/C. A/C is generally the first thing I disconnect once it starts failing
This x was not 8 days ago
As a Subaru owner since 2003, I would've preferred to see the 2.5 turbo Subaru boxer engine instead of the Ford. Just FYI... on my 2nd Forester, wife had an Outback and now a Forester, one daughter owns a Forester, other owned a Forester in the past.
They made sidewalks so subaru owners could get home
Just enjoy the video man
"Subaru has always been known as a performance car."
If you build one of these cars, figure out how to run a motor that is reliable. The Subaru EJ and Ford EcoBoost motors are both junk as far as reliability is concerned. Maybe a Honda k series and transmission would fit? They are WAY more reliable
This. A K20 would be way more reliable and make more power.
I would rather run a K series Honda engine.
Making a k series work in a traditional mount angle is more work than most people know due to a k series originally meant to be transverse mounted. It's doable but you end up buying even more parts vs the Ecoboost being a drop in since Ford uses that engine in rwd setups already.
Why not use a ford transmission?
Kit was designed around the Subaru parts. To fit the ford 2.3 it needs an adapter, no adapter for the Subaru motor. It really doesn't make much sense to fit a ford motor - unless the Subaru donor's motor was dead.
@@alexprymack7834 so why not use a Ford transmission with the Ford engine? That's what I was aiming to get across.
That's what I explained - the kit was born a Subaru, it was designed to work with Subaru parts from the outset. The Ford motor is the deviation from the original design.
The answer is simple the Subaru uses a transaxle for it's AWD setup, that means the transmission has two front shafts coming from the sides and a rear driveshaft to give it the AWD. Right now Ford uses a transverse/fwd style mount for it's AWD so the entire thing is mounted differently. This why no Ford transmission.
@@jonf2009 great answer. Thank you.
Yeah this is Sean Slocum I'm a big fan but I need some help I've got a 2004 Grand Cherokee and a 2000 Grand Cherokee both of them have blown Motors in them one has a really good body the other one doesn't and the heater works in one but not the other I'm just I'm disabled and financially strapped because we live on my income my wife takes care of me need help
$$?
11k to start.
It seems like they went out of their way to ignore the fact you could use a wrx engine in this kit and push the ford ecotrash engine instead.
The 2.5 subie has problems too, cleetus
@ShaunHensley Please, no comparisons to that Floridian idiot with the race track.
CAN YU SAY 818 PC OF SHT?
Thanks for not making a gay azz Mazda Miata.
Hell Naw Ford 😕🤬😤🤮🤮🤮🤮😴☠️🙈🙀👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
