    This is pure gold man! You're so lucky 11 fighters ready, we have so much difficult finding someone who even dares for a play!
    Thanks for the stoke!!!!

    This was awesome! Fight #4 and the final fight were my favorite! What heart and courage was demonstrated by the respondent! Like the old roman legion maxim: "Let your training be bloodless battle so that your battle is but just, bloody training." Aperture FF rocks!

    finally i see a realistic approach to weapons training. i've had some eskrima and silat classes, and while i appreciate the drills , the best time i've had ever was simply sparring with some marine buddies. our sparring looked alot like this, though we grappled more as we preferred closing the range more.

    Outstanding. The guy in the gray sweatshirt(maybe wrong wardrobe choice for this much work) is getting into the sweet spot at around #5 where he’s just moving, trusting his intuition. I dig this stuff.

    This isnt just a crucible of the body but a crucible of technique, this to me feels like the only real training. All coordination goes out the window and full contact always looks like a hack fest of limbs and weapons. If your technique is demonstratable in full contact/ real life after the fear has kicked in, your bpm is over 150 and the other person is trying to actually hit you then you truly have it. I loved this video, thankyou for sharing and somebody get that guy a beer!

    great vid! well edited, great choice in music (imo, its to my taste so i like it more than others might). The first 40sec was a great intro, got me hooked and pumped up with just that. i think it was a good idea to have a concise description of the fighter in every match, it gave me a starting point of what to keep an eye out for.
    my personal fav fight was #4, the jkd guy. that one was frickin glorious

    First of all congratulations that was beyond impressive, and please do not mistake me for a hater, the rest of this comment is me asking questions not criticising.
    Why does it say full contact? When the takedown guy gets the ground and pound is told to keep it gentle as it's just sparring so not full contact. But then one of the knife guys later on doesn't look like he is holding back with the knees to the head.
    Not trying to take away how difficult this is, and exhausting but don't need to claim it's full contact when it's not to make it seem more impressive. fighting 11 rounds back to back with a fresh fighter each time and no rest is unbelievably hardcore. And I know from experience how being pushed that hard through exhaustion is physically painful not to mention all the blows that were taken. To be honest I'm surprised that after it was over you didn't take off the mask and roll around on the floor trying to take in air while all your nerve endings screamed at you.
    One thing that confused me though was reversing the stick grip, when using single stick. I'm not experienced at stick fighting but my thoughts on this would be it shortens range, limits power and vastly reduces available angles. So was wondering what I'm missing as to why you would do this?
    Also what happened with the veteran fighter? Noticed it was stopped early and couldn't tell if he had hurt you or if it was just total exhaustion. I assumed the later as couldn't see anything that looked like it caused a sudden reaction and by that point was amazing you were still on your feet anyway.

      @AZ-1003 4 роки тому +1

      Hey this is way too late lol but the full contact refers to weapon to body contact without the usual body armour, arm pads and foam sticks, this actually hurts a lot but the adrenaline helps suppress the pain.

  • @baldieman64

    And when fear becomes a factor, all the clever trapping, parrying and monitoring goes out the window.

      Snake Over there’s real PTK SMF and then there’s this shit they teach foreigners. Being willing to exchange blow for blow, grappling with weapons, and standing still just wilding swinging and hand hunting are just a few ways to get yourself killed. I didn’t see a single person bridge or retreat while executing a basic 1 2

    Why aren't you going after the legs and feet more. When we trained with a master he was always taking low line shots to crippled moblity. When you switch to machetes witch is the actual weapon your training you can take some instantly out the fight with a leg shot. Great video. Especially the transitional fighting

    • @ApertureFightFocused
      @ApertureFightFocused  6 років тому

      Try it. Its a very high risk move that places your head in a momentarily, but extremely vulnerable position. Also, low line shots with a stick, full contact, with adrenaline pumping will NOT stop at attacker. In demonstrations, yes it works every time.

    • @audiotechplus1
      @audiotechplus1 4 роки тому

      Tactical Training Group that’s bs. Why go for the legs when the weapon is still an active threat? Anytime I’ve seen someone get a leg strike they usually get hit in the back of the head. Worth it?

    What happened to all the ingrained drills and technique? It looks like it’s just degraded into flailing and praying for a solid hit. Is this all it comes down to? Very disheartening.

  • @audiotechplus1
    @audiotechplus1 4 роки тому +1

    Dumb. Yeah, let’s trade shot for shot because blades weapons wouldn’t stop you. The point of PTK is to be safe and to avoid being killed. All they are doing is sacrificing themselves to hit the other.

  • @Kev80ification
    @Kev80ification 6 років тому +1

    This is what it looks like. So answer me, why the need for fancy drills? I've never once seen any of them pull that stuff off. Ryan hoover talks realistically about kali. And I've practiced fma for several years so this is not me hating

    • @ecilatnecniv
      @ecilatnecniv 4 роки тому +1

      before you become a great guitar shredder, you need to practice a lot.. a lot of drills that some you may think not related to beautiful scale riffs.. but helps you a lot to improve your fingers...

    • @mofogie
      @mofogie 4 роки тому

      truthfully... you dont really need the fancy drills. i did no nonsense sparring with knives, just using a muay thai, wrestling, and jiujitsu background , and it held up just fine.
      later i took eskrima, and the eskrima helped polish fine movements. the drills are just there to refine you.

    • @audiotechplus1
      @audiotechplus1 4 роки тому

      Kevin Morley the drill help develop hand eye coordination, understand timing and distance. Usually disarms are not used because it is unrealistic against a trained opponent. A disarm or lock works if you’re dealing with someone drunk and/or beat that won’t give in, and/or against someone untrained that you manage to get to freeze up for a moment long enough to disarm and move.

    • @audiotechplus1
      @audiotechplus1 3 роки тому +1

      The best disarm is your number one and two slash and Thrust. All of these fights sucked. I did t see a single clean shot. All kamikaze.

      @ApertureFightFocused  6 років тому +2

      your observation in that not everything displayed here is practical is correct. calling creativity and exploration in live sparring is not something I would call BS though. Context matters. These guys aren't training for a random knife attack at walmart in this video.

    • @sarge712
      @sarge712 6 років тому

      Aperture Fight Focused True. You have a good point in that context.

    • @audiotechplus1
      @audiotechplus1 4 роки тому

      Aperture Fight Focused they are training to stand in front of each other and train shot for shot. They are training to sacrifice themselves by standing there and/or grappling with what should be respected as a real blade. No good comes out of that if you think you did fine by letting someone hit you with a stick so you can hit them back

    • @benquiller5212
      @benquiller5212 3 роки тому

      @@audiotechplus1 well there is not only "the a Stick is the representation of a blade" thing. There are also other concepts in fma like principle of the weapon. A stick is a stick, a sword is a sword. I know it's tradition and i guess with different mindset and rules you can do it with sticks, but if you want to spar with something that represents a blade i think you should get a blunt sword. A stick feels way different. And this here is what fights with Rattan sticks and Helmets look like if people know what they are doing. If it's 1 on 1 without helmet and gloves you get more clinches and ground fights. Search for sayoc sparring and you will see.
