Great video Barbie!! This contained valuable information. I will be more aware of my choices in the grocery store now!! You're the Best!!
I consider myself a fairly educated label reader, but boy do I feel bamboozled by the non stick spray! Just threw it in the trash and ordered a refillable olive oil mister. I’ve been binge watching your videos in order and I feel so enlightened! Thank you!
You make me smile, my dear. I applaud you for getting this education the right way!
Hi Dr. barbie, amazing video, as usual. You are a natural educator! I'd love to share a few things with your viewers that I learned while studying for my certification in whole foods nutrition. The problem with all the "seed"oils (corn, soybean, safflower, canola, grapeseed) is that very high heat is needed to extract the oil from the seed which causes oxidation, which means lots of free radicals. These oils are also very high in omega 6, something that our diets are already very high in. Omega 6 starts inflammation in the body, omega 3 stops inflammation. While sometimes it is important to start inflammation in order to fight diseaese, we already have so so much in our diets, and should be looking to increase omega 3 fats. Oils that are derived from fruit (avocado, coconut and olive) are superior to seed oils in that lower heat levels are used to extract the oils. A final note that i learned which I'd like to share is that it is preferable to avoid all oils whenever possible- there is no fibre in them, they are extremely high in fat and excessively caloric. Any benefit you gain from the oils can be achieved by eating the whole fruit- and then some!
Thank you for this. Your information is correct.
The big problem with getting Omega 3 is that whenever they are present with Omega 6, the two compete for receptor sites. the Omega 6 is very strong while the Omega 3 is very weeks So, the Omega 6s win and you don't get the benefit of the Omega 3s.
Omega 3s are sooooo weak that they cannot withstand any processing ... not even putting them into a bottle. SO the only way you ever get Omega 3s is by eating the unadulterated foods that contain them: Egg yolks, chia seeds, nd some fruits.
With all the food processing that goes on nowadays, ,most people are woefully deficient in Omega 3s. This is very worrisome because your brain needs Omega 3s more than any other nutrient.
Education is just so wonderful!
117 & 118 are so helpful in correctly making the right adjustments to my nutrition plan as well as so.much of your other information and I'm just taking about food here thank you so much
You are so welcome, my dear. These are things that are intended to be informative, but the food industry forgot to educate people on how to actually use the information. I appreciate your appreciation of my efforts.
Thank you for the wonderful and very informative lecture!! While it does not change things, I want to clarify a bit on carbohydrates terminology, fully recognizing there is more then one classification. Simple sugar typically means one or two sugar molecule containing sugars ( mono- and disaccharide) such as fructose and lactose. Complex sugars typically means more then 3 sugar molecules string together (starch, cellulose, glycogen, chitin).
Many simple and complex carbohydrates are naturally occurring. I completely agree that added sugar is what we all have to watch out for. That means that in addition to naturally occurring sugar , more sugar was added during the production process.
This is true, and thank you for your clarification. I love it when we all help one another.
@@MenopauseTaylor you are the best!! Thank you
@@Marsolan You are very kind, my dear.
Great information! I seriously am not sure there isn't anything you don't know!
Oh, there's plenty I don't know: I can't dance, I'm geographically-challenged and can't find my way anywhere, I can't cook, I technologically handicapped, and I could go on and on!
24:15 thank you my Lady for all this wonderful information! You had enlightened me in the matter of healthy nutrition and many, many other things 🙏🏼 Be Blessed!
You are so very welcome, my dear. I'm passionate about giving you this education.
That was so helpful and quite eye opening - I am never looking at food labels the same again! Thanks.
I'm so glad! Understanding how to use this information will make a huge difference in every aspect of your life.
Beautiful necklace again! Crazy stuff with the transfat!! We are learning! Thanks for your hard work on this education!
Shocking, isn't it!
Good reminders and some helpful new pointers for me!
I'm so glad this was useful to you.
Thank you for yet another eye opening and helpful tutorial. Wow...I thought I was trying to be careful when I purchased grocery store items, but this segment has totally burst my bubble. I will definitely look at those labels in a much more educated way from now on and hopefully make some better informed choices. Please know how thankful I am to have your guidance in all things health related...you are a gem!!!!
I love knowing that this helps you make wise food choices. I'm just so shocked at how difficult it is for people to make sense of these labels. So, I decided to do what I can to make it easier.
What an important video, again! I never knew the facts about sodium. I am looking at the food labels in my fridge and I am shocked at how much sodium I have been consuming. Wow!
I love seeing you learn so much. And now you see what a difference it makes if you watch my videos in order.
Great information!
I'm so glad you found it useful, my dear.
Awesome 🤗🤗🤗🤗 thank you as now will observe ongoing!!!
I love your enthusiasm. I smile every time I see a comment from you. Thank you, Terri, for making such good use of my tutorials.
Great tutorial! I am always reading the nutritional labels and STILL learned more from you.
I use coconut oil in my vegan butter. Yikes! Makes sense since it solidifies.
The spray will be replaced with parchment paper or silicone mat for baking. Frying...I’ll use some vegetable broth or water.
Thank you!
Will you touch on the subject of glyphosate in oats? I’m so confused about what the truth is.
The topic of glyphosate in oats is an area of controversy. Like most things involving herbicides, it does dow to how much you ingest. And it's difficult to quantitate from your diet. I will research it further.
Thank you so much. Valuable information.
You are so welcome, my dear!
Life saving information Dr Taylor! THANK YOU IS NOT ENOUGH 🥰 and now I have a question about saturated and trans fat - (since I’ve been watching your videos in order, the more I learn, the more questions I have 😊) you mentioned coconut oil (which I put on my skin and hair) and you said it has trans fat - and you taught us that anything we put on our skin ends up in our bloodstream without going through our liver... so am I consuming trans fat???
Excellent Thank you
It's my pleasure.
Saturated fat is different from trance fat and I heard your body or also your bile gland needs saturated fat what’s your intakes on that?
Coconut Oil is TRANS fat? Interesting...so I see on my Trader Joes Coconut oil (cold pressed and unrefined) 1 Tbsp (15 ml) = O grams Trans Fat! So...gee...coconut oil is all the RAGE! But still...one has to be cautious...this is how a lot of people get the MCTs. Oh my oh my! Now I am more confused...confusing myself! I think I feel my arteries tightening! Yikes! Thank you for this info! 🌸🌺 ps I really like the Carb:Fiber calculation!
AWESOME INFORMATION Dr. Barbie!! My goodness it boggles the mind...so grateful for you and what you give and share freely with us. I know you mentioned coconut oil. I have been using coconut oil to cook with, but I should discontinue that (is that right)? It’s a plant, so think I am a little confused. I was under the impression that the sat. fat as MCT was beneficial in limited quantities? Thank you 🙏🏼
Coconut oil is from a plant. But it is a very, very fatty fat. Of course you can have it in limited quantities. And, you know that you can do absolutely anything you want. It's just good to have factual information so that you won't have to later say, "Why didn't anybody tell me?"
Just watching for the second time...I want to utilize this learning experience fully (better than any class I’ve had)...recommending this one to EVERYONE :):)
Well, what do you know! I CAN teach nutrition. I love knowing that this is so helpful.
Thanks
It's my pleasure!
I got my Chung's chicken egg rolls package out for this one Dr Taylor...1 egg roll serving but packaged in 2 two packs :) four total box. Fortunately I do only eat one with a home made salad. Egg roll Total fat=4.5g, saturated fat= 0.5g and trans fat 0g (really??) We know that is not true--it has chicken in it and all purpose shortening in crust, lol. 10 mg of cholesterol, 500 mg sodium (Yes, I have high blood pressure), total carbs 26g, dietary fiber 2g, sugars 5g, sauce is just water and sugar (I don't use it) Fiber rule: 26g/2g=12 not a good ratio, put it back you say--I say but I ate a salad :) Protein 6g. Vitamins/minerals, no category higher than 4%. Well, nice explanation of food labels. Much to consider when buying prepackaged foods, too much--I need a glass of wine :) Love your menopause series--a must watch ladies!!!
You make me laugh. Now you're going to read food labels like crazy (and you'll be shocked at what you see).
You are the Best Dr Barbie 💖
Oh, Angel, you are so kind. I'm thinking of you deeply!
@@MenopauseTaylor thank you Dr Barbie!
I will imagine you holding my hand Friday morning 💗
Ps, My young client is making a consultation appt with you through Georgeta
My sweet Angel, rest easy. I know you're nervous. But, you should feel so much better when you have some answers.
Your client already scheduled her consultation. I'll love helping her.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION 🤩
Yes, You get it!
Will you be covering “binge eating disorder” at perimenopause in one of your videos? I am a sufferer and struggle to identify successful coping mechanisms. I’m grateful for your advice and support.
I did not plan on covering binge eating disorder in a video. It's a topic for which I would recommend a one-on-one consultation. You need to address your situation individually.
Thank you. I’ll be in touch when I get some free time.
You know I'll be here when you need me.
I suffer(d) with binge eating disorder. What has helped me is going to Overeaters Anonymous, a 12 Step Recovery Program.
I'm glad you got the help you needed.
What do you eat in a day?
A lot!!!
Can I ask you again, is the chasteberry the only natural progesterone enhancing product? I obviously am trying to read the book but it would be quicker if you could just tell me. I don’t want to go on synthetic progesterone. I’m sure you can answer this?
Chasteberry is the ONLY herb on Planet Earth that contains progesterone. And it's only 1/100 to 1/1000 the strength of the progesterone your body produced. It can do none of the things your body's progesterone did.
what about earth balance butter, is that trans fat
How come the amounts of the different types of fats doesn’t always equal the total fat listed?
Because the food industry has every way of deceiving you. You might also ask why they don't have to list "added sugars." Or why they can claim 0 grams of trans fat when there are really 0.5 grams of trans fat per serving. (This is one of the reasons the fats don't add up.)
What are the best vegetables to eat during menopause that won't cause bloating? I heard that one should stay away from canned peas, canned corn and broccoli, all of which I love.
If you watch video 111 on "Foods That Have Magical Health Benefits," you'll get your answer. The very best are (1) Cruciferous vegetables and (2) Allium vegetables.
And the most nutritious are the fresh (non-canned, frozen, or packaged) veggies.
What about avocado oil? Is that ok to put on a salad or is it a trans fat?
Is coconut oil the only ‘bad’ plant oil?
Avocado oil is good oil. Enjoy.
Hi Dr. Barbie !!! i have been learning so much for you from all your teaching !!! you are a God send for sure !!!
I have a question, for the past 10 months, I've been experiencing lots of vaginal dryness. At the beginning I thought I had a yest infection because it was itchy, i called my ob and she prescribed monistant. After a few months it became very noticeable ! My libido es extremely low as well. I have never experienced this before. I looked online for remedies for this, and the suggestions are DHEA, and a few herbal supplements like Maca. I've been taking both DHEA 50 mg. and Maca for two months now and so far i haven't noticed any improvement. Sex is not painful yet, but i have a hard time lubricating and when sex is done my vagina burns !
I am 47 years old and I do take a low dose birth control pill, (viorele). I appreciate your expert opinion !!
At menopause, vaginal dryness and itching are an indication that your vagina is shrinking ... literally! The reason is that your vagina depends heavily on estrogen. It wants more than just about any other part of your body.
What doesn't make sense in your case is that you're on a birth control pill that contains both estrogen and progesterone. And the dosage of estrogen SHOULD be adequate to prevent vaginal dryness and vaginal shrinkage.
You really need to figure out what's going on. But, it's impossible for me to trouble-shoot it here in this comment box. Ideally, you should schedule a one-on-one consultation with me. I need more information in order to connect all the dots for you and figure out what it will take to alleviate your discomfort.
If you can, please schedule one. Just go to MenopauseTaylor.ME, choose your time, and give me as much information as you can on the form. . I'll create a personalized document addressing all your concerns, and send it to you at least one day before our session. That way, you'll have time to read it in advance. It's usually 6 - 12 pages long.
Then, I'll have all sorts of props and models to show you during the consultation, and we'll make great headway. You'll understand everything and have all the options tailored specifically to YOU.
]The other thing you can consider is going to your gynecologist's office for a "wet mount." This is when the gynecologist swabs your vagina with a Q-tip, rubs it on a microscopic slide, and looks under the microscope to determine if there is an organism causing your symptoms. Monistat only treats yeast. All vaginal itching is NOT due to yeast. There are multiple other organisms that may be causing your symptoms.
Right now, you're shooting in the dark, and you deserve so much more.
So I use coconut oil and Extra virgin olive oil.... so I noticed saturated fat higher in serving size of coconut oil versus olive oil .... thoughts ? What is your opinion on cooking oils in general because I know some vegans don’t use any oil .... thank you 😊
Olive oil is always the best way to go from the standpoint of many factors: (1) It has more Omega 3, (2) It has less saturated fat, and (3) It has been proven to be heart-healthy.
Also avocado oil and perilla oil but definitely olive oil is the best. Barbie, I have read that corn oil and sunflower oil are not good, can you tell me why it’s ok?
How'd you do? . . .Amazing! Thanks . . I think? 😄
Thank you so much, my dear. I'm relieved.
Hi Doctor, which category does rice bran oil fall? Unsaturated fats?
Yes. It's an unsaturated fat.
Been watching your menopause series and I'm having trouble finding info for someone like me who went through menopause over 10 years ago with no hormones. I'm 63 and would at least like to know what questions to ask my doctor or if there is anything that would help with hot flashes, dietary issues, depression... and be protective for bones, heart, brain. Or is it too late for me? Thanks.
I'd love to be able to give you an answer here, but your question is just too broad. The ideal thing for you would be to schedule a one-on-one consultation. That way, you can give me all the details of your personal situation and I can tailor everything just for YOU. That's what you deserve. No two women are alike. This education gives you the facts. But tailoring them and weighing each option as it applies to you is a whole different story.
I'll spend quality time with you giving you exactly what you need in preparation for your appointment with your doctor. And, after spending time with me, you'll accomplish a lot at your appointment.
If you want a consultation, go to MenopauseTaylor.ME to schedule one. I do them on Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, as well as in-person.
You can include all the things you want to cover when you fill out the form, and then send me any labs or tests you've had. That way, I can incorporate everything into the session. I'll create a personalized document addressing all your concerns, and send it to you at least one day before our session. That way, you'll have time to read it in advance. It's usually 6 - 12 pages long.

I have a question about progesterone and I know this video wasn't about progesterone but I just pulled up your latest video and thought I would ask. If there is a video that you made that addresses this please let me know what video it may be. I read online that an older woman in her 60s who was taking progesterone as part of her HRT had a stroke and her doctor said it was due to the progesterone. Are strokes a side effect of progesterone? Just was curious since I hadn't really heard this before where someone definitely pinpointed strokes in connection to progesterone. I will be turning 60 and have been taking BHRT for about 5 years now and was a little concerned.
I covered progesterone in videos 36, 37, and 38. Your question deserves more attention than I can give it here with regard to the stroke risk. If you can schedule a one-one-one consultation, I can give you what you deserve so that you really know everything you need to know.
Currently, your understanding is too incomplete to try and answer your question. But you do need an unbiased, thorough discussion on this. And I'll be happy to do that with you.

Just wondering what you do with the animal products you are showing us, do you take them back to the shop after filming this video? 🤣🤣
No. I give them to the staff in my condo building or to may videographer Arianna.
What a beautiful spirt , love you (from northern CA)🧘🏻♀️
Thank you so much. I love giving you this education.
