    Why does this channel only have 16k? This ridiculous! With all this great information you are providing for us. Those who are younger like me can only benefit from being informed of the changes. These older women who are so obsessed with fighting wrinkles (which is fine if that's your thing) should be watching you and sending viewers your way. Thank you so much for educating us. I don't comment often but I just don't understand it. xo

      You are so kind, Marie.
      The sad truth is that menopause is THE most neglected topic in every aspect of human society: medicine, family life, the workplace, ... even among women themselves. There's so much denial that most women just don't want to hear or talk about it.
      It's my dream for young women to get this education long before they need it. It would change the world for everyone in many positive ways. Keep watching. And get every woman you know to join you. One day, we'll all have menopower.
      I applaud you for being so proactive.

      Dr. Taylor you are one of a kind. Until I embarked on watching all your videos on Menopause, I never realized how grossly uninformed or ill -informed the majority of women are. It saddens me that our medical systems, Drs., etc. are in that same category. Dr. Barbie keep sending your "God-send" light so more and more women can see the truth and make the right decision for themselves. Thank you for recognizing the vast problem in the first place, for researching and sorting through with your knowledge without bias and offering this wealth of information for free on UA-cam. It was horrible and has barely gotten better in the past 20 years. I am grateful for someone who understands that it is hard on women's bodies, especially the younger we lose estrogen and progesterone... especially if we already have other health issues.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  5 років тому +3

      Yes: Killer Whales (Orca), Pilot Whales. But the only reason these whales have a menopause is because the non-reproductive females perform a role that contributes to survival of their species that the reproductive females cannot perform. In other words, their menopause has a purpose. There is no purpose of menopause in other animals.

    I had a total hysterectomy in ‘13. I had the option of getting my ovaries out as well, but the surgeon didn’t recommend it since I’d have instant menopause. He said it’s turning the light switch off in one fell swoop vs. a dimmer switch. I didn’t realize there were long-term ramifications from that as well, like you explained here. I’m so glad I went the route of keeping my ovaries ! The thing that gave me pause was the fact that I’d undergone 2 rounds of fertility treatments earlier in my life that I was (still kind of am) concerned could give me ovarian cancer someday. The gynecologist/surgeon said there’s no factual basis for that fear. I hope that’s true. I had no success from the fertility treatments, but I didn’t suffer from primary infertility so I had 1 pregnancy/birth in my 20’s.

      @@MenopauseTaylor No, you’re right. I think in the end he was correct to suggest keeping them in for the shorter-term benefits (and perhaps longer term as well based on things you’ve said about risks being severely amplified for disease should one get their ovaries removed as well), but I felt dismissed about the ovarian cancer concern. At this point, I guess we wait and see.

I will arm you with all the information you need, help you weigh your benefits and risks, and school you in how to navigate the medical system in order to get what you want. There are more pitfalls than you can possibly imagine. And, if you go to your doctor before having a consultation, you could burn your bridges without even knowing it. You do not need any labs before having a consultation with me. All you need to do for scheduling is go to MenopauseTaylor.ME.

      Stacy,
      Please, please, have a consultation with me. You HAVE to learn everything you need to know in order to manage the entire rest of your menopausal life. This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. You definitely need one. No two women are alike, and addressing your situation requires tailoring all the facts specifically to YOU.
      I'm in the business of educating you about everything you need to know and do in order to get exactly what you want for managing your menopause your way. So, here's how a consultation works:
      1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone.
      2) I would send you an email to confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. For instance, if you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I will give you a deadline for sending all materials, and will not accept anything after that date.
      3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points out the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU, using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages.
      4) I will send you the document by email 72 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth.
      5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want in order to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed.
      6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use.
      7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (15-minute or 30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and re-balance their options.
      The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got from the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request.
      So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively).
      I hope to meet you soon!
      Menopause Taylor

      Welcome aboard, my dear. I like to call this "Menopause University." If you start at video 1 and watch them all in order, you will understand absolutely everything and be shocked at how much you didn't know. My channel is designed for watching the videos in a precise order, just like any educational endeavor.
      I respond to comments here on UA-cam daily, So I can help you. But I'll be able to tell if you aren't watching the videos in order. (I'm like your mom: I have eyes in the back of my head!)
      I'm just so thrilled that you're getting the education you deserve.

    Great content! I experienced balloon popping (lol) menopause when I was 40. The women’s health initiative was alive and well, and all of my health care providers were running scared from hrt . Unfortunately for me, by the time I learned all I needed to know, from you, my estrogen window of opportunity had slammed shut! Will you be advising people like me on how to make up for the damage caused by being in uninformed? Or, is it truly too late?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  5 років тому +1

      It's never too late. My education is "Your Menopause Your Way." And there are a lot of different ways for you to accomplish your goals.
      However, I do not think you're going to get the information you need from these videos alone simply because it will take too long. You need to consider (1) Buying my book or (2) Getting the entire education via DVD or Webinars, or (3) Scheduling a one-one-one consultation.
      You need to know all the facts, all your options, and have it all tailored to your particular needs. And the sooner you do that, the better. I give you options in every category (Diet, Exercise, Lifestyle, Vitamins, Minerals, Botanicals, Herbs, Acupuncture, Hypnosis, Hormonal Medication, and Non-Hormonal Medications) for accomplishing your goals and tell you the limitations, pros, and cons of each.
      So, keep watching the videos, but do at least one of the other things I listed so that you don't have to wait for the videos. It will take about five years of videos to get the full eduction on UA-cam.

      You probably DO know more than your gynecologist! Most gynecologists are not particularly fond of menopause. They prefer delivering babies and taking care of younger women. That's why I educate you directly.
      It's best if you can work with a menopause specialist.
      If you live in North America, you might have a menopause specialist near you. Here's how you can find one:
      Go to www.menopause.org (North American Menopause Society).
      Click on the tab "For Women."
      Click on the drop-down menu item "Find a Menopause Practitioner."
      Put in your zip code.
      All the menopause specialists near you will pop up.
      See what you can find.

    Dr. Barbie can I go into menopause if I had a partial hysterectomy with the removal of the Fallopian tubes combine... but my ovaries stayed? It’s been exactly 1 month today since I had the removal of the uterus and my Fallopian tubes only... and 1 week ago I starting feeling hot burning sensation in my cheeks only, and I’m Worry. Can it be posible that my blood vessels that supply blood to the ovaries are still recovering? And that’s why I feel this symptoms?but once I heal those symptoms will despair? I made the decision to have my Fallopian tubes taking out after my gyn explain me about the risk of ovarian cancer because of the Fallopian tubes... there was nothing wrong with my Fallopian tubes! Now I’m regretting taking them out because I think that’s the reason I’m having this hot sensation feelings. Please Dr. Barbie let me know if that’s correct or the Fallopian tubes being removed have nothing to do with my symptom right now? thank you!

    After all this upheaval, does it level out? Do we end up in a more peaceful place not having to deal with periods and the ups and downs of PMS or PMDD. I know the process of menopause has a ton of symptoms but after it's over does it feel more peaceful without hormonal fluctuations.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  5 років тому

      You're dreaming. Think of it like this: If you lost all your thyroid hormone, you'd have about 20 symptoms that made you feel horrible. Over time, they'd get worse, or maybe even settle down some. But, underneath those visible symptoms, your organs would be undergoing severe damage that would eventually kill you. the very same thing is true for diabetes, in which you lose your insulin.
      In fact, this is the case with ALL deficiencies of a substance that your body produces to stay in optimal health.
      Why would loss of estrogen be any different? How in the world would your body just say, "Oh, no problem. I didn't need it anyway."
      This entire education is to make sure you understand that there is SOOOOOO much more to menopause than a few symptoms that are at their worst early on. It's really about all the organ damage that occurs in the absence of estrogen. Your heart, bones, and brain depend on estrogen heavily for their sustenance. without it, they start aging, and your risk of heart attack, osteoporosis and Alzheimer's skyrocket.
      Please don't minimize the importance of what's really happening. All the symptoms of menopause are your body's attempt to get your attention so that you'll do something to compensate for the loss of estrogen.

    Do you think that replacing the ovaries will be enough to stave off the health problems that women get from losing their estrogen? I am under the impression that replacements are not available, yet. But, I wouldn’t put it past the enterprising medical engineers/scientists to find a way to do just that.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  5 років тому +1

      Well, replacing organs is quite a bit different from replacing the hormones they produce. For instance, if your thyroid stops producing thyroid hormone, you don't get a thyroid gland replacement. You just take thyroid hormone replacement. The same is true if your pancreas stops producing insulin. So, I think the best thing available for the foreseeable future is to take hormone replacement.

    It was recommended I do a

At 48 into 49 I had all the symptoms of menopause and had all kinds of tests to rule out serious disease It was again recommended I have a hysterectomy so saw an oncologist gynecologist who removed everything both Fallopian tubes, both ovaries and my uterus and cervix. Yes. You were peri-menopausal before the surgery, which means you were still in the transition phase.
      Had you not had your ovaries removed, you would have remained in the transition phase, possibly for only a short time. But, your ovaries would have stopped working gradually.
      Your surgery caused instant post-menopause.
      Now, because you were 49 at the time, it doesn't change your situation much. It's not like you are prematurely menopausal" (video 134 coming up next week). But it is still sudden menopause.

      It rarely stops that suddenly without surgery chemotherapy, or radiation therapy.
      However, stress CAN and does cause some to skip periods, sometimes for a long time. (The females who fought in Desert Storm stopped having their periods.) You have been through a traumatic experience. And that causes your body to say, "Hey, let's put the reproductive tract on hold."

Women who became menopausal during this time typically remember something called "Premarin." And they all took it. Their doctors simply said, "Take this." And they did. Most didn't even know what they were taking. But, there very reason they're all living well into their 90s now is because they took it!

    Dr Barbie how likely is it for a woman to get pregnant in her mid-50’s?

      It happens more often than anyone wants to imagine. I talked about it in video 10 on the phases of menopause.
      Usually, the woman thinks she's going through menopause and we have to tell her, "No, it's not the change of life called 'menopause.' But it's going to change your life, alright!"
      I've delivered 4 babies to some in their 50s. One has daughter that was pregnant at the same time, and they had their babies on the same day!

      Of course. It's what would happen if you stopped taking any kind of hormone replacement for a hormone deficiency.

    I feel bad about this, but ever since my “sudden “ menopause I can’t tolerate the shockingly high pitched, screamy voice or the sing song cadence….bitchy sensory sensitivity.

      @@MenopauseTaylor I have a lot of support with my vast friend group of therapists, life coaches and healers. I’m a researcher who understands my body and medical contexts ….but thank you!
      What really irks me is how no medical professional has ever sat any of us down before the surgery to explain what was about to happen….no single woman in my support group of over 500 women was given this basic respect. We were all infantilized and gaslit by the people whose job it is to provide the basics of informed consent. So many women had their ovaries removed UNNECESSARILY….with zero recourse.
      I get estrogen and progesterone tomorrow, testosterone after those are right. I am taking the supplements and eating correctly, I will continue to take my Surmeno as my own responsibility to manage because my obgyn is literally a useless pathological narcissist.
