On the off chance you are serious, I will leave this here for reference from the wiki. (This was a quite clever joke IMO) "The Three-Fifths Compromise was a compromise reached among state delegates during the 1787 United States Constitutional Convention. Whether, and if so, how, slaves would be counted when determining a state's total population for legislative representation and taxing purposes was important, as this population number would then be used to determine the number of seats that the state would have in the United States House of Representatives for the next ten years. The compromise solution was to count 3 out of every 5 slaves as a person for this purpose. Its effect was to give the southern states a third more seats in Congress and a third more electoral votes than if slaves had been ignored, but fewer than if slaves and free persons had been counted equally, thus allowing the slaveholder interests to largely dominate the government of the United States until 1861.[1] The compromise was proposed by delegates James Wilson and Roger Sherman."

Fun fact: the Leviticus thing was originally a statement against pedophelia, as at the time Greek and Roman men often kept young boys as sex slaves, hence the specific wording of "man with boy," not "man with man." Loved the special, have a great day!!!
When I heard you start talking about the dog at the airport, I knew I read that somewhere. I honestly got kinda upset that youd just repeat someones story, so I went over to /prorevenge and what do you know, it was you who posted it! I just discovered your youtube today and I've been watching a lot of the videos. You're probably one of my favorite comics in a while
I felt the same way but I remember hearing someone else tell it. I don't remember who but it was almost word for word at some points. At first I thought what the fuck dude? You just ripped someone else's joke but then I realized that he had more to the joke than the other person had like when you retell a story of an event you heard about. It has less detail and loses some of the character. So one of two things happened, either someone I can't remember ripped his joke and didn't do it as well or he ripped someone's joke but did it better than they did and I can't say I'd mind if it was the latter.

I was watching this again (thank you) for some feel good moments. My staffie just passed away Sunday. I forgot you had one too. Sending love to Walter.
Steve, I've seen a bunch of your clips over the years, and I love them...but getting to see a whole show is pure gold, you had me cracking up. Great show my friend!!
I like peanut butter do you swim?
Yea give Steve hofstetter a Netflix special at last he deserves this
It would be the perfect network for Steve. They are one of the most liberal leaning corps out there. And after doing the research to make this statement, I want to go and watch Netflix now more than ever. Thank you.
Just found you and I love it. Watched a few videos but really enjoy your humor and energy
What i got out of this is that steve murdered a man at his hotel and then fled the scene
His cover was quite good too; who would ever assume the murderer would openly joke about possibly being the murderer?
LordMajicus so perfect
@@LordMajicus It's foolproof
And then got away with it... Hence why he is an optimist.
the murder did happen in the room either right above or below his room, he knew this fact, he says he knew this only because a reporter told him this in the parking lot while they were waiting for the police to check it out and then tell them you can go back inside now, no doubt about it Steve Hofstetter is the murderer, just kidding of course or am I
This was the most masterful performance I ever watched from any comedian of any era. I randomly found your videos about a week ago and have spent several work days listening to your videos while doing my job.
Thanks for making me look like a psychopath laughing in my cubicle in the dead silence of the area I work in lmao.
You’re a legend man!!
I did the Sam's shit. Randomly come on cause I was listening to comedians on podcast n I fell asleep and this came on.
I saw his heckling videos.....but this special is just good.
Original content, articulation, cleverness, hes real smart....his lines are great. Lol
Jonah Rogers Mitch Hedberg (R.I.P.) is another master of comedy. Check him out.
Found him a few days ago
*lady from airport* "oh they're so temperamental when they're this age" *Steve Hofstetter* "yeah I'm still tempermental, and I'm gonna kill that baby"
BEST LINE IN THE BIT AND I HAVN'T FINISHED WATCHING YET XD!!!
you are a comic genius and i hope success keeps coming your way. You will definitely become a legend 👏👏👏
Thank you Steve. Now I'm not going to bed for an hour.
I’m a Brit and have just found this funny man. Great to watch, hilarious. Love from the UK😂🤣😂
I’m about 7 minutes into the video. So I finally got the answer when I asked a couple months ago, if you were the murderer at the hotel. Apparently, running fast away from the hotel wasn’t suspicious enough for the police. You lucky man steve. So far brilliant video :)
I am so happy that you put the entire show on UA-cam. It's amazing!! 🤣🤣
Thanks!
I didn’t like this free piece of art I wasn’t obligated to watch
@@armandrivers4906 ...
@Scott Murphy w-what?
@Scott Murphy I get some good laughs out of it, supposing you are one of the blokes of the internet who think they have some sort of extremely advanced sense of humor, huh.
@@bush_1600 his intellect and IQ are too high to find him funny
"simpletons" lmao

Steve, I am so happy that I found you last night! You are my new favorite comedian. I have spent the last 13 hours binge watching your acts, Great job! I haven't laughed this much in a long time. Thank you
Mr. Hofstetter , I have just discovered you on You Tube, and I felt the need ( & have no idea why ) to convey that, you Sir, ( in my opinion ) are a genius in creating the Heckler tapes. I can not remember ANYONE doing this before and I'm 63 and have been paying somewhat attention to the comedy field. I am VERY glad I found your channel.
Music in a public space without headphones...when you said that, I knew I love you.
I absolutely love this guy, one of the few comedians that make a set that seems to be so true and relatable, besides been that acidic comedic that I like. Perfect.
Thanks
I've been watching bits from this here and there for a little bit. Finally decided to watch the whole special. Unfortunately, watching you while recovering from bronchitis made it hurt to laugh sometimes, but in the end, was so worth it. Laughter is medicine and I'm feeling a little better after watching. Thanks Steve!
When you talked about Walter 🥺🥺🥺But saw that you have a new puppy 😍 My puppy is the only one that manages to keep me sane during this quarantine, lots of love from Italy 🇮🇹 💕
Fun fact: the Leviticus thing was originally a statement against pedophelia, as at the time Greek and Roman men often kept young boys as sex slaves, hence the specific wording of "man with boy," not "man with man." Loved the special, have a great day!!!
I found your channel about 2 weeks ago, and I can't stop watching it.
You're hilarious, never stop.
I remember reading this on reddit. I thought it was great. Now, I think it's even greater.
@@jeaniegirlover5335 Hi Jeanie - you're misremembering. This story has been covered by several media outlets and ripped by a ton of clickbait sites. But the original was written by me, on reddit.

One of the greatest specials. I listen to this a lot while traveling to film weddings. Makes the time go so fast. Thank you!
I was going to finally see the movie Philadelphia with Tom Hanks. However, I see the notification for Steve Hofstetter’s comedy special and I go with laughs over sadness!

Steve Hofstetter Thank You for the brilliance that is Secret Optimist.
Thanks for the upload man, you are one funny guy you. Very much appreciated!
Your videos are always killer and I appreciate you putting out the free video. It has been the highlight of my week! You are my in my top 5 favorite comedians and my current hobby has been to turn anyone I know, with a sense of humor, on to your work. Keep being an awesome human being.
Ps: You sounded like Katt Williams to me when you made the snakes on a plane reference . Lol
Steve Hofstetter bone day fucking killed me
I Really Love and appreciate all your videos, and even putting this special up on youtube!
You're hilarious!
Is there a way i can donate without a monthly sub, on patreon or some other way?
I've watched/listened to this special dozens of times and never caught that your dog's name was Walter Matthau! This brought a huge smile to my face and made me wonder, is Milton's last name Berle? I know Steve probably doesn't check new comments on a 3 year old video, but on the off chance you're reading this: thanks for all the smiles & laughs over the years.
Good guy Steve uploading an entire comedy show.
✌😎✌
That was an amazing show! Co-workers are looking at me during lunch wondering if I've lost it, had headphones on while watching. (Because, that's how you do it!) Keep it funny!!
Good guy steve posting free comedy special
Seriously the hardest I've laughed in ages. Excellent work as always
