How I made my Haku mask from Naruto. This is my first attempt with paper mache and making a mask (don't judge me! T^T). It costed approximately $10 to make, took about 2 hours, and weighs less than 50g. It is made with a basic papermache base covered in paper clay. Alternatively, you may use airdry clay. However, it will be heavier so it is great for displaying but not for cosplay. If you will be using it for cosplay I suggest you find some paperclay on the internet or from craftstores (I bought mine from Spotlight).
- Ratio of glue to water I used is 1:1 (eg. one cup of glue and one cup of water).
- I used the tissue paper for tracing. You can draw it onto the paperclay directly if you want. But you can't make a mistake because you can't erase it.
- To wear it, simply buy a plain headband that is the same colour as your hair and use a hot glue gun to attach it to the mask.

very cool!
Even your anbu(kakashi's mask) out of cardboard was cool... NgL this haku mask is super cool tho
With this I may just be able to tap into my inner Shy Guy.
This was actually pretty decent. I'm not looking to do a Naruto cosplay but i did need to find out how I would make a simple round mask. Your video fits the bill. It was just more specified towards the character your doing.
I'm in a similar position, it's very useful :)
FINALLT a tutorial that's explained properly, easy to follow, and produces great results for masks!!! :)
I wonder how the heck haku even saw clearly through that mask and always had a perfect target/aim.
because ninjas
They are asians
Fran V This is the funniest thing I have ever read in my life

I think this is the MOST helpful tutorial on masks I've seen, thank you SO much for posting this. : )
I was thinking about using this method for No Face from Spirited Away :3
omg, you should do it!
DUDE SAME
You could just need a oval shaped balloon
I didn't use air clay but I have made a paper mache no face mask and if you haven't you should totally make one... definitely worth it... now I'm thinking about making another adding the clay... but I just did several layers to thicken the mask up slightly and painted it with gesso and then acrylics... I also added black sunglass lenses behind the eye holes and sculpted a mouth more or less with masking tape which I then paper mached and painted and wore on my chest. I made a special flap in my black robes to expose the mouth or not. And wore long arm length black gloves with extended fingers. I also added straps to the mask, black to blend with the hood and robes.
Me too!
Very good work, think I'll try it myself now. But I think sanding it with a fine grade before painting to get it nice and smooth would make it perfect
thank you for the tutorial! I was lowkey stumped on how to make a mask for a character I've been looking to cosplay, and I don't have EVA foam nor do i know how to use it so this was helpful! I'm gonna give it a go so hopefully it turns out as cool as this one 😊
I’m just doing this to cover my ugly face 😂 plus I love anime lol
Wait what lmao! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
F
F me too...
Lol- im just doing this because i want to show something to my viewers but casually not show my face
@@FlowerSelvV I'm doing the same but I'm doing inverted colors. (check my channel)
That looks amazing. Yet another video that fails to dissapoint. Great job, pretty easy and well explained, deserves a like!
This is probably one of the best tutorials I've seen so far. Thank you! I'm hoping to try this to create a Kitsune mask.
Wow, I'm so glad I came across this video! I'm inspiring to become cosplayer and I want to do an ANBU version of Sakura, however, for the mask, I didn't want the regular one of of amazon or Ebay. I wanted to make my own custom designed one to fit Sakura's personality. So Thank you so much!!!! This video really came in handy!!!
I'm using this as inspiration to make a mask for my own oc and this helped alot! Thanks!
Beautiful!! If there was a cosplay award, I would totally vote for you.
This is actually great! Never have seen better instructions, this is just genious!

P.S I saw your Tobi mask and it's awesome as well.
Oh my god, this method is awesome!!! Although, I have a doubt towards paper clay. Have no idea what that is. Gotta google it up. Thanks so much, you're a hero in mask making techniques! Easy and nice. :D
I know this is so late but this is incredibly helpful! I’m going to be making a Sogeking (from one piece) mask for Halloween and I had no clue where to start, but now I do!
This is really helpful! I'm making cosplay of Hoozuki-gami from Natsume Yuujinchou and I was really stuck on the mask. This helps a lot, thank you!
this is cool! I'm going to be an anbu for an anime convention and I needed to find a way to make a mask. Thanks! ^^

This was fantastic. Nice job!
I wanted to make a Dream mask with this concept tomorrow, wish me luck
How’d it go?
@@ethanaethan well turns out that the eyes made it look terrifying (cause I still wanted to see through them, but the original mask has the eyes further apart) but otherwise it was pretty well
@@annika_1578 oh cool!
I'm gonna make a custom dream mask with this- thank you!!

that mask is awsome finished
Thank you so much! Now I'm finally able to figure out how to make my own mask >^
I want to make it so bad, thank you so much for this!!! 🥺💕✨
Great job!!
I would have gone over it lightly with some sandpaper before painting it, but only because I'm picky about 100% smoothness in all places(including eyeholes and places people won't even be seeing) - this really helped me out though! I'll be using this tutorial to make my upcoming cosplay. Good thing I've used clay a lot before xD
wow that looks awesome!! you could totally make masks for a bunch of different characters and sell them online! I'd buy one!
this is so cool! im unna try it out
you sir, are a genius
way to go man thats cool
That was amazing. Now I don't have to waste money online. Thank you so much!! :)
Nice job, I’ll probably be using this
this is super good i`m starting to do it right now.
Sugoi! Thanks for the tutorial :D Needed it since I plan to cosplay Haku at Taiyou con 2015 ^^
I liked how you did the paper mache as a base model for it. Did a ichigo hollow mask off a hockey mask and it takes awhile to get it completely smooth while still trying to keep some spots morphed how you need them. Only bad side to your way I guess is waiting an extra day for drying.
This is perfect for what I need
Omgg finally found a good metod to make my Killer JK mask! Hanamachi is going to happen in two months, and I need to hurry up with this cosplay :')
Finally I made it thank you so much :D

You didn't only teach me how to make a namu mask, you taught me how to make a mask template
I will use this base to make my
Kemurikage mask from the Avatar series. There are a lot of masks that have that shape so this tutorial is really helpful
actually I was looking for Haiku (which actually is a type of poem by Japanese) I just saw this vid, and it looked interestin' enough to watch
That is so cool
you could try plaster cloth, they come in strips, and after wards, just get some sanding paper to smooth it out
I wish you told us how to keep the tissue paper in place :(
Very good job!
Thanks for your tips. im making a naruto themed room for my boys and this will look awesome.
art is explosion!
wow very nice job!
wow that is so amazing
Good for eyeless jack mask too!
Good job! Nice build. I'm thinking of making some automail, or at least something like it.
Not bad, but I think you should have done a video, not only pictures...
Sometimes it is a little bit confusing, and by making a video, people from no-speaking-English countries would have understood :)
