The problem was they did it to try and save the universe, they should do it for perfectly selfish reasons like simply locking that Doctor menace away for good
Ryan Gosling sitting in his office answering mails and having his tv on in the back-ground and upon hearing The Doctor's epic speech, offering Matt Smith a role in his next project. That happened.
Just to be clear as to how this all started.. 1. Van Gogh has a vision just before he dies and puts it in a painting that gets hidden. 2. The painting is uncovered during World War II and brought to Winston Churchill who tries to call the Doctor. 3. The phone call is then rerouted to River song in her jail cell in the future, who escapes. 4. River goes to starship UK and steals the picture from the Royal Collection. 5. River then gets Jack's Vortex Manipulator. 6. River travels back in time and writes the very first message ever written, which are "hello sweetie" and some coordinates for Stonehenge during the Roman invasion. 7. River waits in the disguise of Cleopatra with the Romans for the doctor to arrive, and shows him the message Left by Van Gogh.
Just a couple of issues with this. 5. is it Jack's Vortex Manipulator when the hand has been cut off? There are plenty of other Time Agents. 6. Bad story continuity, how and why would River choose to meet the Doctor at Stonehenge in 10x AD when the whole scenario was devised by the unholy Alliance from Amy's childhood memories, which River has not seen yet in Amy's room, because she gets stuck directly after visiting Amy's house (so no wibbly wobbly timey wimey) - and lastly not all of those in the alliance have Time Travel (only the Daleks as far as we know) Surely they would not share that knowledge, and if they DID have time travel then that would negate every episode of Dr Who, because the enemies would just Time Travel and undo their defeats at the hands of the Doctors. - very bad writing by Moffat and not the first time.
@@grabtharshammer I'm assuming river ends up at stone henge because she has located the Pandorica which is what is written on the painting. Not entirely sure why any of the aliens need time travel for any of this episode to work in your mind? And no its not Jacks vortex manipulator, it is just a random vortex manipulator
@@grabtharshammer 5. The story was originally supposed to have Jack in it but he was unavailable... But the implication is that he got dismembered and that's how he became the Face of Boe. 6. They put it back there years before the doctor arrived and it waited with the Cybermen Guards.
I suppose it's kind of fitting that people are forgetting that this was all orchestrated by The Silence who do indeed have time travel. You have to wait untill Matt Smith's final episode to have the whole story confirmed, but I assume most people commenting here would have seen that by now.
Smith's delivery of, "Look at me, I'm a target," and his and Darvill's interactions as Rory waits for the Doctor to realize he is there, are very, very high on my list of favourite Who moments. :D
The end of this episode gave me chills the first (and many subsequent) time(s) I saw it. This and the next episode are possibly the best series ending two parter in the entirety of Who.
@@arch1017 Assuming you mean Capaldi's final series, then same for me. Though I also think Capaldi's second series finale is close, too, and very unfairly maligned by a lot of people. Plus it has my all time favourite episode in that two parter.
I love The Doctor’s speech and how fearless he is knowing he is outnumbered and I feel like despite the alliance tricking him, I think they were genuinely scared off by him or at least were fearful of him which yeah cuz he’s considered most feared person in the universe to them The Doctors the only one who genuinely makes the Daleks scared This is one of my fave finales of the show, it was one of the most ambitious and bonkers, it was so entertaining and I remember the excitement waiting for the finale. Still a really good cliffhanger Those Romans are the same duplicates from the very first episode “Rose”, the autons
I feel like it basically just confirmed to them that he had taken the bait. But I don't think that detracts from how awesome the speech is, nor how amazing Smith's delivery of it is.
This is my favorite two part finale. There are better part ones and part twos but none that have both. Always look forward too reactors reaching this point and it's always amazing.
To me, this is probably the one time we really see the doctor truly afraid. I mean there has been times he's been scared but he always has some plan in the moment but this time.... this time he's drug kicking and resisting, struggling to break free before being thrown into the ultimate prison cell
I don't know how far your in with Classic Who or whether you watched that serial or not but one of the unseen races in this episode River Song mentions is the Drahvins which were a race that appeared in Classic Who from the Hartnell era.
I know I'm safe saying this as you've seen it already, but the fact that we don't get a proper explanation for "silence will fall" for TWO SEASONS is wild
Ah the Pandorica, the Doctor having a more tough challenge when all villains want to get back at him, Rory returns, Amy and if she can remember. River being great as usual. TARDIS brakes again no she is flying it right. This episode feels as big as a S3/4, but more interesting way they scale the threat.

@@BritanyBinges the fact that Amy Pond is her mother made me cry a lot.... it was shock about full of crocodile tears... I just love River.... and the way that they build it up that the people of forest knows only river was cherry on top.

Arthur Darville is SUCH an underrated actor. Every time I see him act I see new facets i never saw before.
