- Title: Hong Kong Russian Couple First Impression of BGC Manila
In this episode, we finally visited one of the top recommended district here in Manila called BGC - Bonifacio Global City. We came without any expectations and let the experience took us. We DID NOT EXPECT BGC to be this stunning. As soon as we arrived, we were stunned by how beautifully the streets are decorated and managed, especially with beautiful Christmas decorations everywhere on the streets. Growing up in the metropolitan of Hong Kong, I love seeing citylights at night and the nightlights in Manila is a sight to see. It reminds me of home.
We took a long stroll along the streets of BGC and there was a huge variety of food options from local cuisines to high quality international restaurants. We ended up dining at a top recommended Filipino restaurant called Manam to try Filipino cuisine. We were completely blown away by how delicious filipino cuisine was and we cannot wait to try more in the future.

Metro Manila has 16 cities. Each with its vibe, character, history. From clean, modern BGC to crazy, historical Manila/Binondo/Divisoria.
That's amazing to hear!
SINIGANG is a Filipino soup or stew characterized by its sour and savory taste. It is most often associated with tamarind, although it can use other sour fruits and leaves as the souring agent. It is one of the more popular dishes in Filipino cuisine. The soup is usually accompanied by rice.
need the rice to complement the sinigang
Thanks for the detail explanation. The rice definitely made it taste 10 times better!
Yes Tagaytay and Baguio is a must go to in Luzon that a lot of vloggers miss out on.
And a lot of variant... Can be Fish Sinigang, Pork Sinigang, Shrimp Sinigang....the mix vegetables added on it makes it more delicious and appealing taste. Shrimp Sinigang is my most fave.
I recommend Baguio, Baguio, on the Philippines’ Luzon island, is a mountain town of universities and resorts. Called the “City of Pines,” it’s particularly popular in summer due to unusually cooler weather. At its center is Burnham Park, with gardens and a lake. Nearby, Baguio Cathedral, completed in 1936, has a rose-hued exterior. The main thoroughfare is Session Road, lined with shops, restaurants and entertainment options
Thanks for the recommendation Mark!
It is called the summer capital of the Philippines since Baguio and nearby area is the coldest inhabited area in the Philippines.
6:08 Yeah, there are jeepneys in BGC, but I believe their route is only limited somewhere at the Market Market mall, along Lawton Avenue, McKinley Parkway street, 38th street, 8th Avenue, then they would exit Kalayaan Avenue to get to the Guadalupe area. Basically, around the outer edges of BGC, I hope that makes sense.
Thanks for sharing that, interesting to know why they can't come into the BGC.
I like the way you two share your food and that you seem to have similar taste. The side comments on the video was hilarious! 🤪 Very impressed that Justin loved the sinigang. Try other varieties of sinigang using guava, miso, santol (cotton fruit) and with different protein source - salmon or prawns. Try Filipino dishes at a turo turo or carinderia. Maybe Aling Sosing’s in Makati?
I enjoy watching ,Thanks for visiting us here in the Beautiful Country Philippines MABUHAY 💫🎊💫🎊👍👍👍🌺🥀🌹❤❤❤🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
There are several pocket cities that have been constructed the past decades and some are currently being cosntructed.
Excellent job kids. Thank you! You made me smile a lot and even laugh 😅 I’m 76 AND…Mr Grumpy doesn’t live here. Yes I’ve started following you guyz and hit the bell icon. Keep m coming…💕🕵🏼
Visit Venice Grand Canal Mall for it is the most romantic shopping mall of the Philippines
agree visit the gran canal mall in bgc
Thanks! Hope to visit when we return to Manila!
The ability of Justin to host a show is very high👌🏻... very intelligent and your girlfriend is very beautiful🥰
Manileños is what the locals are called.
To truly experience the heart and soul of the Filipino culture, it is better felt by interacting with the local Filipino. Having said that, I suggest you go to the provinces and what one with call the rural areas.
Feel free to ask your server/waiter to explain the dish before ordering the dish!
Example: champorado is cocoa congee and is traditionally a breakfast meal.
Enjoy your discovery of the Philippines!
Thanks for the tips Rene!
Immersing with the urban and rural areas is good. Getting to know different sides of Philippines and its culture
Yes, love documenting both sides always. The good and the bad, the urban and the rural :) REAL
Sinigang was voted as best soup in the world by Taste Atlas in 2021. Americans have a hard time appreciating it but Europeans for some reason like it. It is my favorite soup by the way. It is supposed to cool down the body on a hot weather :)
Amazing! I think it might have become my favourite soup too!
You two look good together..nice to see her getting comfy in manila now
Thank you, she loves BGC
Try Sosing's Carinderia, Mark Weins ate on that side street fastfood, located in Makati. A 12 USD meal is just for one person.
Just saved it to my google maps, will try it when we return to manila
Sinigang was voted as the number one vegetable soup dish in the world. Koreans loved it despite its sour taste
agreed
Sinigang is our comfort food
The sour in Sinigang is very addictive, that’s actually what made it top the ranking.
I love it.
I am a big fan

Thanks for the recommendation Jarred!
@@project_where 不用客氣!
The person complaining is unaware that it is
already nighttime and the crew is already worn
out. He won't accomplish anything by whining.
The meal is well-liked by the crowd. He said,
"These folks have small brains," which I
overheard. I apologize for going off subject. Remember to always enjoy the food and appreciate the staff regardless how bad the service is. You can complain but do not be little people especially those hard working people!
Word!
Thanks boss. More please.
Hope to see you riding in a Gondola in Venice Grand Canal Mall near BGC, Check it out
Hope to visit Venice Grand Canal Mall on our next visit, definitely looks amazing!
Good thing your still enjoying your food even if there is a man next to your table complaining. ❤
Thanks for loving filipino food.
thankyou guys.and welcome to my country.watching from taiwan. i suggest nextime you try BUBALO.😍❤👍🇵🇭
Welcome to Philippines hope you enjoy and stay safe.
Guys, those are Not "wild cats" those cats🐱are actually the Real Bosses there in BGC
😆
I'll never get tired of watching Justin. He is so cute, hot, adorable, nice and talkative. He can host an online show or tv show.
😳❤️
Wow, that's a reasonable price for all that food! Champorado is traditionally a sweet chocolate rice porridge in the Philippines. It's eaten as a merienda or afternoon snack/dessert. The twist for the one you had is that it's an ube (Philippine purple yam) version of champorado. And the sinigang is traditionally made with a tamarind soup base to make it sour, but that one's different because it has watermelon. I've never had that before. Looks great!
The sinigang with watermelon was so delicious, hope you try it soon!
Manam is my go to Filipino food as well, partly because they really serve good food, and are reasonable priced as you said. Last time I was there, I had pork sisig (good for sharing), rice, and the same mango pomelo quencher Justin ordered, and paid a just a little over P500.
I can tell you’re well travelled. I’ve been following you for a while and your accent has changed over the past 4 months 👏
Haha for real! What was my accent before?
Mouth watering sinigang. Nice vlog. Enjoy your stay in the Philippines. Mabuhay. Thanks fr. Manila.
Thanks Elmer!
I hated sinigang when I was a kid but after my 20s, I can’t live without it. It’s my favorite. I worked with a fellow Filipino in California who ate it twice a week at the office.
I love Sinigang but I can only eat it once a week because it makes me acidic
It is really addictive, still thinking about it everyday here in Cebu
@@project_where Yes, it's addicting. People's favorite sinigang is pork belly. Mine is salmon collarbone I buy from a Chinatown wet market. Discovered this style from a Filipina in Seattle ua-cam.com/video/7DkmB-btFfY/v-deo.html Sinigang is easy to make on your own. Just buy the sinigang mix and put in everything.
Whenever Alina says she is not hungry. She will end up eating your order. 😂
Sooo cute ❤
Hello my favorite beautiful couple vlogger❤❤ I’m happy that you got to tour around BGC before going to CEBU . Waiting for new vlog to come stay safe as always ❤
Thank you Richie! Always lovely seeing your comment :)
great vid! You should try the more authentic version of what Justin had. This time it's the PORK SINIGANG! My personal favorite and as everyone said, voted and won as the best soup/stew in the world.
Have you tried the salmon collarbone or neck. It’s not easy to find but it’s the best sinigang for me. There’s a Filipino store in Seattle who makes it and people like it.
@@denniszenanywhere I'm not sure. I don't think I have. Not in recent memory coz everytime I crave of Sinigang I always go for pork, whether pork belly or spareribs.
You can bet we will have sinigang soup again, it is so tasty! Hopefully with pork next time :)
Nice vlog, keep it up🙂
Thank you, means a lot :)
@@project_where No prob
nice meal just enjoy it.salamat.
Sinigang is an addictive delicacy... The more you taste it the more you love it! Welcome to the Philippines!
Yes both of us are addicted. Reading this comment alone makes me hungry

Thank you Ric!
I missed Hong Kong 😍 . It was my first country I've visited. My first Disneyland experience 🥰.So convenient to roam around using bus, MTR and just by walking. Very safe too! Just a funny thought that I wish I could bring MTR here in the PH. Hahaha. Thanks for visiting the PH. New sub here!

@@project_where yeah Jeepney is fun and I'm glad u've enjoyed it too. 🥰
Love watching you enjoying Filipino food! Welcome to the Philippines 😊😇🥰😍🤩
We love Filipino food! Can't wait to try them all :)
This video verified my guess. At first I guessed you has Chinese background, and your girlfriend has Russian background. I’m a Chinese make BGC as 2nd home for several years. Happy to see more different backgrounds vloger record Philippines. Before most of foreign vloger are from Britain or US. I think this is an underrate country in travel list with a lot to explore.

Thanks will do! Hope to see the light show next time!
Champorado is a breakfast food. It is glutinous rice porridge with cocoa. Usually paired with dried fish.
Interesting! Chocolate dish paired with dried fish!
The Philippines already looked.this cosmopolitan without a massive tourist arrivals like its neighbors and western countries. Imagine how it'll evolved ✔️
So true!
Watching from Hongkong..miss my place..enjoy ur stay there in the Philippines
We swapped places haha! Love the Philippines
paborito means FAVOURITE
Noted!! Sinigang is my paborito
You should visit Bulacan, see DRT, old houses, and you should try relaxing at San Rafael River Adventure too.

Thanks for the list! We’re on it :)
HAAHAAAHAAH!! you are so cute Justin waiting patiently Alina to eat. Cute couple
this vlogger said in his earlier vlog...that his first impression of manila was there are old infrastructures/ structures..of course, that place is an ordinary area not really a tourist attraction to begin with..
each countries got an old rundown areas even in the usa..
now on this video wherein they were in BGC the most advanced city in asia...they were in awe, shocked..BGC is aesthetically SUPERIOR than singapore..and cleaner than hk
bottom line, is you cant conclude/ generalized any country by just based on what you saw in one area...its not the totality of a country
Well, he is just showing the real situation. They don't have these sceneries in their place ofc they are in a much richer country so everything is new to them. Stop criticizing them by saying what they noticed. Never hide any dirt of the country. Being authentic is always the best in any vlog. You as a local, should be open minded so you won't be hurt and felt that they are generalizing any bad situation in a certain area.
Thanks! Every vlogger's first impression is different, our's coincidently started in a downtown area and we reacted based on what we saw, but doesn't mean that we conclude whole of Manila is "old" . The goal of the channel is to show the good and the bad when visiting a new country, to show our viewers the REAL experience and hence we often go deep in to local areas instead of the main touristic spots.
Nice! city night in BGC thank you for Up;oading and share it to Us.
No worries, stay tuned for more vlogs!

WELCOME TO THE PHILIPPINES.TRY OKADA

Typically champorado is color brown bcoz of cocoa...... Its like a chocolate porridge.... A dark chocolate porridge with milk and sugar. You can get the recipe on the internet.....
And manam always serve very good Filipino food
Glad to experience it on this trip!
BGC tour + Food tour is Awesome! Love this episode
Thanks Wei!
Champorado is a filipino dish influenced by the mexicans during the spanish era when the Philippines as a province of spain is having a galleon trade with mexico
Yeah right that is right sinigang with steam rice, champorado is for later. Try Pork Lechon also. 😋
Sure! Will make a vlog about Pork Lechon soon
champorado is a local chocolate based porridge and ube is indeed taro. enjoy the food guys
Try some of this filipino spanish cuisin Lechon Paksiw , Escabeche or Sweet and sour , Pork ,Fish or Chicken , Reliyeno Bangus or Fish Stuffed , Imbotido, Lechon and Lechon Kawali, Langonisa Hamonado , Adobo Chicken or Pork ,.Chicken Cook in Coconut milk or Ginataang Manok . The Philippines is a diverse cultural nation most of the provinces have their own share of provinvial cuisin The Mindanao cuisin or Muslim cusine is more exotic and rare to find in Manila but the taste of their food have a thai impluence which is more spicy but exoticly delicious .
Thanks Mikey, hope to try al these soon!
Sinigang shocks you at first, then it grows on you and leaves you wondering how you ever managed to finish it all and crave for more. Justin, you were right, it was watermelon on the Sinigang.
That's the perfect description for Sinigang Sonny. It really grew on me!
Oh my fav soup sinigang the best soup💯!You guys must try sisig, kare kare, lechon and adobo.
Ticking off the list one by one! Stay tuned, we tried Sisig yesterday :)
such a cute couple enjoy the ph!
Thank you, appreciate it! ☺️
Loving Sinigang, that is the Asian in you! 😊
Don’t expect to find salad in a traditional Pinoy restaurant. Salads ain’t part of the usual Pinoy diet. When you eat at an authentic Pinoy place expect the meals to be heavy and rice intensive. The food you had champorado is a local rice chocolate flavored porridge usually eaten for breakfast. Sinigang on the other hand, is a local sour soup with veggies together with pork or shrimp. The most common souring agent used is tamarind. In Manam they used watermelon to counter the sourness so compared to other sinigangs the flavor is much tamer than others.
$12 only? Shockingly inexpensive! Manam? I’ll visit in January. 🇵🇭🇺🇸
Palabok is noodles with more ingredients mix together like tinapa chicharon mixed in the sauce..eggs,shrimp...and many others..
So many ingredients, sounds and looks delicious!
Beautiful gorgeous city🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭BGC
Justin is already adapting the filipino way by stopping the car by his hand hahaha
you gotta try the rooftop bars and resto at night in different spots in whole metro that overlooks the whole cities and with a nice view of all the lit skyscrapers and roads at night make sure to go on a clear weather. for top spots in makati try Antidote or Firefly rooftop bar and resto they've got good foods if you dont drink and a perfect nightlife view of the surrounding cities sometimes they also have live music performances. and i also recommend you to checkout a rooftop resto in intramuros during sunset best on a clear weather.
Thanks for the recommendation! Will visit the rooftop places you mentioned when we return to Manila :)
Wow I feel hungry after that 👍👍
The Bank Bar. Many called it "the secret bar" because the entrance of it is inside 711. You can search here in youtube for some preview
Wow that’s awesome!
Cool
Thanks!!
It was very obvious that you liked the sinigang so much....yes, its really delicious...you may want try next tinolang manok...its also equally delicious...i see that you both like tasty soup.
It was amazing! Wish there was more :)
She was just looking for light meal or salad. but when she tried Sinigang. Hmmmm that's it. Sinigang is a complete meal, soup, vege and meat on it.
Try to visit also Makati City and try Kong Restaurant at hv dela Costa st besides mini stop and Crosta pizza at Salcedo village Makati City
Champorado is usually eaten in the morning as breakfast meal and in the afternoon as merienda. Sinigang is the best Filipino food ever.. eaten for lunch or dinner so yummy😋😋😋
I agree! Both are so tasty oh my goodness....
If you're first time here in the Philippines you should go to travel first here in Metro Manila, tour around 16 cities in Metro, before you go outside Metro Manila or Provinces..
Try midrange to low priced Filipino BBQs (JT Manukan, Andok's liempo, Mang Inasal to mention just a few) you wont regret covering these in vlogs. Btw You 2 look cute together
I think Manam offers different sizes for their dishes. They have solo orders which means that the quantity is only for a single person. They also offer larger portions that are meant to be shared by a group of people.
I am ready to take on a larger portions. We NEED MORE OF THIS
Makati is very nice. Youre just staying in the wrong part, near the redlight and party district. The other part of Makati further down Makati avenue near Ayala is very nice but has a different vibe from BGC. It feels like a real city
Yes, hope to stay in a different area in Makati next time. We do believe we have been missing out on sth, will stay close to to Ayala next time. Cheers!
@@project_where find a place near Legazpi Park or Salcedo Park. You won’t regret it
In makati u have the residential area and the CBD or the financial district..u can visit Greenbelt and the Ayala triangle gardens preferably early night so that u can watch the xmas lights & sounds show as well.
Thanks! Hope to visit when we are back in Manila! :)
new subs here .... enjoy guys
Thanks Rodrigo!
supporting you,here lovely couple...new,subscriber her.
Thanks for subbing! More vlogs coming up:)
That champorado is eaten especially for breakfast
Such a good breakfast to start the day off!
Pls Try Sizzling Sisig
Sinigang
Adobo
Bicol Express
Kare-kare
Tapa
Lechon
Crispy Pata
Will do, ticking off these food one by one everyday :)
Wow! the price is Reasonable Good Restaurant.
Yes such an amazing spot!
Sinigang has been named the Best Soup in the World by Taste Atlas in 2021.
If you ate that in Melbourne you'll pay at least 6 times more. One of those drinks alone in a restaurant will be the cost of
your whole Filipino dinner.
Hahaha can relate...
Hi, better ask servers or waiters for more info about the menu on what is in the dish that you are ordering. And ask someone on how to eat some of our local meals.
Visit East wood also a beautiful place …
You can visit also East wood city in Quezon city, Ortigas centre Pasig city
Thanks for the recommendations, we will check it out!
Enjoy your vacation mate, go to other place in the Philippines , take care always and make it more vlog.
Thanks Billy, will do!
When what you’re ordering isn’t a meal, then you should older the rice separately.
Sinigang with watermelon isn’t authentic… it’s more of a modern development that some restaurants make. I highly urge you to try the authentic one.
By the way, my favorite pairing is (Garlic Fried Rice) and (Pork Sisig).
We had the Pork Sisig yesterday (stay tuned for the vlog) but didnt pair it with the garlic fried rice. We need to try this combo again!
😂😂😂❤️❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭🏝️🏝️ Enjoy and keep safe always ✌️✌️
