I find it really interesting how with many popular, long lasting toy brands they usually go through reboots or redesigns (e.g., Mickey Mouse, Barbie, My Little Pony). But Hello Kitty is pretty much the exact same as she was almost fifty years ago.

I resonate with him so intensely it's INSANE. chococat was born and raised in chocotown colorado, his parents are divorced and he is also a big tech nerd who uses his whiskers to intercept information and radiowaves and stuff! he definitely isn't the most obscure of sanrio characters but I am constantly fighting for my LIFE to find chococat themed things 😖

I remember when first seeing Hello kitty it did have a mouth which looked just like Miffy character. I later found out that there was another children' s book writer/drawer: Ray Goossens a Belgian author who made stories about Musti a cat who looks suspisciously like Miffy since 1969.

Western media has been a little inconsistent as well over the years, some of the cartoon dubs describe her and her family as cats, either because the company doing the dubbing didn't care, or because they thought american kids wouldn't get it. They might have been right, I don't know. Still, the Hello Kitty Paradise theme is a bit of a jam! The coolest Sanrio toy I have is a mini-plush box set of Hello Kitty as Alice In Wonderland (with Dear Daniel as the Mad Hatter, and a tiny White Rabbit My Melody). Got it at a gift shop specializing in Japanese imports in maybe 2003, where I also discovered San-X and Gloomy Bear. I love weird cute culture things!
