I was obsessed with Kelly dolls as a kid. My mom bought me every Kelly, Tommy and their friends (Chelsea, Melody, Marisa, Jenny, Tamika and a bunch of others) we could find in store in the early-mid 2000s. I called my entire collection my 'Kelly dolls'. I wasn't a big fan of the Barbie dolls and I only had a few of those, so I don't think I had many (if any) sets that had Barbie and Kelly together. I mostly had the individually packaged dolls, but some Kelly and friend sets. Also, as a kid, I totally thought Kelly was Barbie's child and the few barbies I had were the moms when I played.
I have a special fondness for Kelly because she was one of the last big Barbie developments when I was still actively playing with the dolls (I was about 11 when she was released). It was also a relief to not have to hoard loose babies from doctor or babysitter sets for when I wanted to give my Barbies big sprawling families.
My favourite kellys are for sure the princess assortment line in the early 2000s(rapunzel , Princess and the pauper ect)i had shopping Kelly in the 90s with magnets on her hands..good times.
Omg I had or have the original Kelly set at 3:13 for years! I think I still have them but I'm not sure where they are after all these years. Also wow. Kelly is as old as me at 29 almost 30 years old.
I collected Jenny dolls (Kelly’s friend) for years, long after I was young enough to play with Barbies. Because my name is Jenny. And it was fun to get one with my name!
I had Rainy Day Jenny. She was so beautiful in her little outfit. But, those tiny clothes are hard to put back on after undressing the dolls. I loved Jenny though and I miss her.
I have a vintage 7.5" Stacie. She's cute as a bug and can wear most of vintage Skipper's clothes, but she was well-loved by her previous owner and is missing some fingers and the tip of her nose.

Wow I knew Kelly's name was eventually changed to Chelsea although I've never owned a single Chelsea doll as the name change took place when I was already in my adulthood and I was was not playing with or collecting barbie dolls anymore but now being older I find myself wanting Barbie dolls and and other Fashion dolls again. I love her but technically they brought her back as those random toddlers in various Barbie sets and a few individually. They just have plastic hair now. Still irritated we couldn't have both as of Chelsea's introduction, they didn't have to get rid of her like they did.

I was a big fan of Kelly back in the day. I still have my childhood dolls including the original in the crib, black variants of Strollin' fun, Shoppin fun, and Tiny Steps, the friends Becky, Melody, and Chelsie, and some Kelly Club kids. Chelsea was okay early on but the ones they make now in the 2020s are so weird looking and the clothes are so cheap and basic. I think the last time I saw a Chelsea that was both cute and good quality was probably ten years ago.
