We used to go this way into London in the early 80s. Pretty grim back then every street was identical with lots of neglected properties boarded up houses with no signs of life. No kids playing in the streets mostly because it wasn't safe. Looks better now.

Absolutely..without knowing what it was like back then, it's one of the quiet and beautiful places to drive through.
