When it's time to say "enough is enough!"

- Hello guys! A little pragmatic, but true. A person can only take it so far and in fact this was the breaking point. The Alfa Romeo 166 V6 Turbo Busso will not be repaired by the present owner, all the effort of years was defeated by negligence and total disrespect for the brand and components of this example. I hope that one day I will see this car on the street and that it will be treated well! Now that everything that happened is public, "fool me twice, shame on me"

Believe me, i want to make a roadtrip with my alfa and come to you to check my alfa and tell me what to fix. Its a long trip but i would love to come. I trust you more than the mechanics in my country
And believe me that that is the intention of my channel if it grows to make a living out of it. I want to travel the world and see all Alfa Romeos and yes, try to help out
It 's true, I'm confirming that too.
Where are you staying exactly at Portugal? Name of city/vilage
In Leiria area. Why?
To find how many days do i have to drive until there 😜
I feel the same, I love Alfa Romeo but people use non dealer garages because of cost. I have a GT at the moment and so many bad repairs. Please keep up the good work, your videos have saved my Alfa which is slowly making good progress. Cheers Paul
Hello, thanks for your support! Sometimes it's not easy to carry on, but I will push on!
I am driving a 156 1.8 from 2004 with over 303.000 km on LPG. It's a very solid car that i have now for 5 years. My brother bought my old 166 3.0 vl and has been driving that car now for 6 years without any real issues.
The biggest problem with Alfa romeo is that people buy an abused one and try to pump an andless stream of money inside. This 156 i bought for 1600€ with spare winter tires on steel rimes.
It has after 20 years almost no corrosion. And a very healty engine and gearbox. I do somethings myself and other this i let be repaired abroad as in the Netherlands it is to expensive.
I have driven many Alfa romeo's in my life, and an Audi, Volvo, Ford, Renault, Peugeot and Citroen. And i dare to say the Alfa is the best. But neglect can harm an Alfa really bad. I change my oil every 10k, change brake fluid every 2 years max, and other things. I drive the car slow untill everything is really warmed up like it should.
Also in the Netherlands a liceneplate is with the car. I try to find low owners. If you see an Alfa with 10 or 15 previous oweners...don't go near that car. I search a little longer and always manage to buy from 1th or 2nd owner.
Thanks for watching and sharing
It happens, I had the same feeling with a Ford Escort I had that was so neglected by the previous owner that broke my patience by literally breaking down almost every week so I had to sell it. Now I have 156 2.0 and even having to do some major repairs like the clutch an clutch pumps, it brings a smile to my face every time I turn the key. I still got things to fix like the speedometer not working, the IAC working oddly on cold starts among other small fixes, but, even with the problems to import pieces for the car, I still think my 156 is a keeper
Hello. Hope you can continue to keep it and fix it. Every day that passes it's more and more difficult to do it and find parts. The car scene is about to change very much!
@@alfaromeonoproblem It's my intention to keep this car for a long time, it's hard to not to fall in love with Alfas once you get one
Yes! That's why I what one of each to collect
Thanks for making these videos!
Thanks for watching them!
That's always a bad thing to hear and sadly it happens a lot. Most cars I ended up giving up on were in this position simply due to pure neglect. As you said, there's plenty of information out there to do things right the first time - it never been easier with parts and info available at the click of a mouse button - but most people choose to do it the easy way or cut corners and cause more problems in the future; if a 'mechanic' like that works on the same car for a few years, the car ends up being gradually destroyed and as in your case, it proves to be too many things to do to get it right again - if at all possible to correct all faults. Some lead to complete destruction and if it's gone too far, there's not enough to justify spending money and time to rebuild it - our time is also limited and you can only do so much. And as you've said, it's not one particular brand, it's everywhere and becomes more apparent now, less and less people really care about it these days and it is sad the way things have gone. Keep up the good work my friend.
Hello. Yes, not much more to add there. Us car guys will care always but more and more this will happen. And it will get worse
i love you broo alfita for life
Thank you very much! More v6 videos to come, stay tuned
That is bad news but understandable, hope to see it running in the future.
Hello. Thanks for watching. The car is already in a workshop in Lisbon, hope it will get on the road soon
It is a pity that there is no continuation of the repair and assembly of the motor. I also currently have a 166 with a 2.0v6 turbo engine under repair. Turned the liners. I will remove the motor and try to fix it.
It's a pity really, but this was too much for the customer.. thanks for watching
@@alfaromeonoproblem I want to ask you. Do you have a crankshaft for 2.0 v6 busso from Alfa Romeo 166?
@jecin08 hello. I do not, and I think I will have to get one too.
@@alfaromeonoproblem I can’t find a crankshaft from 2.0 v6 anywhere. I want to try installing from 2.5 v6 together with connecting rods.
@jecin08 try Álvaro Ferreira, AlvaroAuto here in Portugal. Facebook and websites
The exact same thing happened to my classic bmw. I spent thousands on it but nothing could repair my trust with the car
Us car guys always suffer the most... Thank you very much for watching
Lack of new parts and psychological tiredness, more than the actual cost, I believe are the main reason cars like this are abandoned. Hope it's not the "end of the road" for this car
Hello. You can add one more to that, lack of time.
This car will survive i believe, it's already on a workshop in Lisbon.
Hope it gets on the road
Not to meantion that the car parts prices have doubbled in some cases now...
I understand...
Thank you very much for watching
One of my 166 exterior trims (on the b pillar) has rust under it too. Anyone else had that problem and how did they fix it?
Hello. You can put a vinil cover or paint it mat black
Don't be turend down too much by this. It happens. And sometimes it needs to happen. You can't save them all and maybe you learn to focus more on what you CAN do! And maybe the car gets a new life soon. I mean there are still a lot of Alfa and car enthusiasts that invest thousands of Euros in restoring a car rather than buying a new one. What counts is that you tried your best! At least that! Cheers!
This video did coincidence with other bad news in my life, this car was not to have a engine out even! But I do attache to things and emotions.. silly me..
@@alfaromeonoproblem You're not silly. I think people that are not like that are silly. Or let's say cold...
Hi Bud I have an alfa gt 3.2v6 and it needs an engine rebuild, would you be interested in it, how can I contact you for more info... Greetings from Netherlands
Hello. I'm from Portugal. The shipping will be a huge cost and the licencing of it about 5 thousand euros. I cannot do it.. sorry
@@alfaromeonoproblem yeah is no problem, but I think you misunderstood me, I meant I bring the car completely to you as it still drives ok and you can do the work/videos on it if you want like the 166 and then I come again in a few weeks and take it back or whenever its ready( I have two alfa gt so I can use the other one in the meantime), I want to achieve about 300hp from it and I planned to used forget pistons , liners and rods and a set of.good cams, it would make a lot of interesting videos for other alfa enthusiasts and your channel, but that's if your interested ofcourse...
Oh, ok. That would be interesting, but I do not do this full time, at least not yet...
As is something like that would take me a year to do.. sorry for that
