    I've played DCS for about 60hrs so far and most peoples videos are heavily complicated or they don't explain things concisely.
    They take way too long to show you the functionality and it's possible uses.
    In essence, they speak as if you have prior knowledge of these systems and are just translating it to another airframe.
    Thanks for your quick and straightforward explanations.
    It's much easier to get started with some knowledge and learn as you go and discover additional functionality rather than study a 700 page guide to the letter.
    Thank you.

    Would like to mention that if you’re engaging with a Fox 3, speed and altitude are your friends. I would suggest hitting at least angels 35 at a speed of at least 400 knots. It will be incredibly difficult to evade while attacking at those parameters and you will be able to engage at a much further distance. You will appreciate this advice when going against a pair of flankers.

      flying too high every time is not a good thing to do, you have the energy advantage but everybody can see you and if somebody sneak in you and shoot a aim120 at like 9nm below you are a goner.
      A better strategy is flying low (where the awacs and ewr cant see you) and gain as much speed and energy when engaging and defend the enemy incoming missile if necessary.

    Great videos man keep it up! I would like to mention that when u are in RWS mode and bug a target. U can also "soft lock" as long as u don't TMS UP again and go into a STT (single target track). So if u only TMS UP once in RWS they won't get a lock warning either. (ofcourse they get a warning when the missile goes pitbull but thats the same with TWS)
    EDIT: Conclusion. I always prefer RWS over TWS because of the stronger track im getting on the target. This is because of how the radar acts in the 2 different modes. The only time I personally switch to TWS is when I have to deal with more then 2 targets. (max bugs on different targets in RWS = 2) also a BUG is a "softlock" and a STT is a "lock". If anyone wants to know more information about the F16's new VSR radar mode hit me up!

    Making your own missions, shooting up lines of trucks on the ground or Chinese AWACS is good fun and needed to learn how to use all the toys. Let me tell you this: Once you go to a public server and are up against real people with real brains, the game has drastically changed. There's no comparison to what you're used to. There will be some cheeky bastard hiding in the canyons just waiting for you to fly over him. And with a heat seeker, there's no launch warning! You will be just tooling along tweaking your radar looking at the distant targets, figuring out a plan on how you're going to take out the....BAM! You just exploded and the jet is coming apart around you. As your floating to the ground hanging from your parachute, you see the smoke trail leading to the guy who just ambushed you! Talk about getting a slice of humble pie crammed down your throat. So take all this advice from Bogey Dope, practice it and make your scenarios difficult as you can. Cause once the training wheels come off and you enter the public domain, you are fair game.

    I am really having trouble here with TWS mode. you say you are getting a track but not able to bug them? I cant do that and I cant get my missiles to fire and move to the next target. im very confused. were you just pressing tms right? up? at 9:49? you were kinda vague during that part of the video, like things were happening on your radar like target switching but you arent saying what keybind you are pressing to do that...

    • @BogeyDope
      @BogeyDope  Рік тому

      4:00 - 4:15 I talk about how to switch to the next target IF you have both bugged. I'm pretty sure I explained that RWS, you can only bug two at a time. In TWS, you can bug many more. Once you have them bugged, it's the same procedure to switch between them as I outline at 4:15. At 9:30, I'm using the same controls as outlined in RWS at 4:00. TMS up to bug/lock. TMS right to cycle between bugged targets. This is the same for both, RWS and TWS modes. Let me know if this makes sense.

      In the current version, you have to wait for the track to build. I just tried this and got it to work once, and then it stopped working again, then worked the third time. There seems to be a delay even after getting the full bugged large squares in TWS mode. In RWS, you have to TMS up to create the bug, then TMS right to cycle between a maximum of two. In TWS, you don't TMS up. You wait until they become full large squares. This means they're already selected by the FCR. Once you have Full large squares, you can TMS right to cycle between them. However, I'm having mixed results with this right now, so it may be my PC. Not sure. Just wait till they each have large squares over them. Then TMS right and they should all turn hollow squares. Then TMS right again, and it will start to cycle through. Let me know if this helps. Again, I'm having mixed results right now.

    • @BogeyDope
      @BogeyDope  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, you need to keep the lock until the missile goes active (Pitbull). In TWS mode, yes. If you TMS right and it bugs the target, you can launch. You can also switch to STT by TMS up another time on it, and get a stronger lock and launch too, but then they get a launch warning. pros and cons.

    • @_Jake.From.Statefarm_
      @_Jake.From.Statefarm_ 2 роки тому

      Remember that the missile will go pitbull regardless. So it will likely track on it's own. The downside of this is if you have friendlies in the area or are trying to shoot down a specific target.
      You can also fire directly at targets with no lock and let them go pitbull immediately but I would only do this if there are multiple targets and they are closing fast on you, you have to go defensive, and there are no friendlies. That way they need to go defensive and they won't get a rwr notification either.
      This isn't unique to the F-16. It's how the Aim210's opererate. You can do the same thing in any aircraft that carries them.. The AIM54 will also do the same thing on the F-14.

    • @BogeyDope
      @BogeyDope  2 роки тому

      This was made in March before they adjusted the radar in the F-16. However, I've never been able to get any fighters at 70 miles. In this video, those were bombers. Very LARGE bombers. You are going to be able to pick up and lock larger aircraft from further away. Fighters will not be seen on the F-16 radar until MUCH closer. Since the update in April-ish, that has changed as well. However, large aircraft will be able to be seen by the radar much further out than little fighters.

    what do you do when they fly very close formation, so its hard to detect on radar, they look like one target...

      Eagle Dynamics has adjusted the F-16 radar many times. At this time, that was the distance I got a lock. There was a time I was getting locks at 40nm. It is a beta and will continue to change until they get it down to what is the closest to real life.

      Essentially yes. TMS up again after that, and you'll have an STT lock. An STT lock will give the target lots of noise on their rwr.
