Good idea! I always enjoy your videos, and I always get a bit of wisdom and a trick or two. I am 80 and a lot of the tips I find that I knew years ago and have forgotten. It helps to refresh my memory. Keep them coming! THANKS!!

Great idea Mike! So many times, as we watch a video an explanation as to what's being done, thought process, product used, etc. would be a good thing to have. I think it will be a good way for many to have their questions answered.
    Take care, Dave

sounds great 👍 maybe some ideas on what woods are best for certain types of project, which woods lend themselves to more decorative applications (stains etc.) - when is it a good idea to use an open grain wood as opposed to one with a tighter grain and vice versa - nothing too exotic, just the woods that are commonly available in the UK

Good idea Mike. I would like to see in this series of videos some hints and tips for those of us who haven’t got the top of the range lathe, chuck, tools, sanders etc and just use what we can get our hands on for our turnings. A ‘turning for the common man’ series!

I reckon this is a great idea. I love watching turning videos. Just a pity most are sped up and no communication with the viewer as regards problems the Turner might face etc etc. I especially enjoy yours because you go into detail as to what you are doing for example some don't say what the use you just see sandpaper you explain that you start with say 180 and go to 320 etc

Even with all that has gone before,Mike, this should prove most welcome. Sanding and finishing are two of my weaknesses, BTW. I'm sure a lot of turners will benefit from such a series. Looking forward to the style of presentation you propose. You have made a good start with this introduction. Bernard.

I like this a lot. It would be helpful to also indicate when you stop to sharpen a tool. Not the actual sharpening, just that you need to sharpen. I still am never quite sure when I should take a moment to sharpen a tool.

A brilliant plan! I’m often discouraged by videos that skip over the “simple” steps. Sanding is a crucial step and I’m flummoxed over how some turners seem to breeze through it with not a single trouble spot (that we know of). I can’t wait for this series as I’m just retired and am diving deeply into the craft (I have far more paint colors that I can ever hope to use). Cheers, Mike! You’ve been a great help to me.

What a great idea Mike! I am looking forward to these videos. I hope you are planning on doing real time turning (as opposed to speeded up 4x or 8x)… I know that, at least for me, I get frustrated with speeded up videos because it doesn’t let me know how long a project will actually take. That having been said, your videos have always been informative and instructive! 😊
