Hi Jack, I’m going through a real bad spike and came across your video, it’s been the most helpful and comforting, I hope my spike calms down and my T returns to its normal baseline
Going through an spike right now, the most challenging part is getting to sleep at night but I'm trying to adapt. Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Jack. It makes me feel better to know that I'm not alone in this journey.
Like you I have had Tinnitus for over 20 years , had a major spike in October 2020 and had a couple over recent years , your advice as usual absolutely wonderful, did the same as you , found staying at home indoors all day did not help at all so I put on my walking shoes and off I went , the best thing I could have done walking is such a tonic .hope your spike goes very soon . Thanks so much.
to anybody suffering with tinnitus, high blood sugar and high insulin (prediabetes or diabetes) or fluctuating blood sugars are a major factor causing ringing in the ear please do research on ketogenic diet. Also see a doctor has a blocked eustachian tube or a buildup of wax in the ear canal can also cause a spike. I suffered with this torturous condition for several years but now I'm completely healed by going on a ketogenic diet
I used to be a huge pheasant hunter from the time I was 12-23. When I was 20 I was walking in a valley and fired. Instantly knew that something was very off. Life goes on and you learn to adapt.
Nice tips. It's a nightmare. Reactive Tinnitus? I get similar when walking into a supermarket and the alarm randomly starts to go off as walking in. Why? God knows it's like a sick game.
Thanks for the reassurance Jack, I’ve just come out of a nasty spike myself. Also I’ve taken your advice from another video and gone unplugged. I stumbled across a second hand Hofner Shorty in the music shop, endless almost silent armchair noodling 🙂.

Just discovered your channel. It's never occurred to me that noises ever trigger my tinnitus spikes. I have them, but they have never been associated with outside stimuli. The only time I have spikes are when I have significantly reduced sleep the night before, or I'm stressing about something. Whether it's quiet everywhere or noisy everywhere or there's a loud sudden noise or loud music, those things never affect my tinnitus. Is this strange? Thank you
I’ve had tinnitus for 27 years, severe for the last 8 years. When you say spike do you mean a temporary worsening or permanent as my tinnitus has only continued to get worse, my spikes are permanent, sadly I can’t just walk away from work whatever my tinnitus does you are very lucky in that! I’ve excepted my tinnitus but still fear for my future 😢

I have spoken to top audiologists about sound masking and they say as long as it’s below the level of your tinnitus in terms of volume then it’s safe to use. So if it helps then try it .
Thanks Jack for a great video. Similar to yourself when I have a spike I try to tell myself that things will be ok soon and it does work. Jack it's a wonderful video everything you say I'm so grateful but I wanted to ask you if you have ever experienced this episodes of tinnitus being sleep-related causing sleep to fluctuate it. Example you're fairly mild all day you watch TV you doze off and you awake with a start with raging tinnitus this can also happen in the middle of the night. You go to bed with fairly mild sounds can you wake up either in the morning or in the middle of the night with horrendous noise in your head I've never heard anyone mention this. I wondered if you had experienced it. There was a sleep study done in the UK related sleep to tinnitus. I just wanted to introduce this because I've watched hundreds of videos on tinnitus has anyone mentioned this. Thanks again for your honest video it's so helpful I watch it again and again when I get discouraged😊
Just curious. Did you ever try to find out the characteristics of your tinnitus. So your pitch and loudness (above hearing threshold)? Great video as usual. Thanks Jack.
Hi. No I have not gone into that because I know that if I did it would create a spike . I want to try as much as I can to make it less important in my life and that includes trying to not know too much about the specifics of my tone and volume. Hope that makes sense. And thank you 🙏
@@thetinnituschannel Yes, that certainly makes sense. Still. My curiosity got the better of me, so I did found out my T characteristics. Drawing attention to T that way, does indeed cause more bothersomeness.
I don't think I have pulsatile tinnitus (like a pulsing drone?). I do have a very high pitched, bilateral metallic whine, all the time. The tinnitus was milder ten years ago, moderate now with spikes. Worried about brain inflammation in early stages. I wonder if near infrared might help or gamma light therapy? I do have mild carotid plaque on one side. Difficult to ascertain a cause let alone what might help. Tried hz frequency generators to mask the noise but not very effective. It is not a fix. I have very good hearing for a 70+ y.o. and very good bone conduction. As a kid I had incredible bionic hearing all the way into highs and lows. Could the the cause be micro ischemia in temporal lobes or cerebellum? Recently had a brain MRI and found possible, supratentorial chronic ischemia. Maybe that is the problem? Also have had yeast in ears and more than usual inner ear infections as a kid. TY for any replys. Downloading your PDF!
