i find it a whole lot easier to play cs2, simply because creating any good looking city in cs1 requires just a whole day of preparation and downloading mods and assets
The problem with the water, apart from being an even slower than in the first game, is that the wave surface effects are insanely exaggerated, way out of scale - The water looks like it's always about to spill over and flood the city. From the distances we're viewing things, its should look much flatter. I don't understand why developers feel they need to exaggerate water waves like this, it never looks good. This mod fixes it: "Water Visual Tweaks" - Makes it look much better:
I've tried and tried, but I just can't get into CS2. The vibe is not there. Might be the lack of assets or the fact I don't find it as player-friendly as CS1. I may try again when more is added, but for now I find the simulation just lacks aura and atmosphere. It feels like walking through the cold, empty Fjords in February. I also still say the development tree is dull and very underwhelming with not too much to achieve for compared to the myriad in CS1.
Personally I really like the game. SInce the lanch I played about 400 hours without almost no problem, and I have a medium PC. I think that most of our dissapointment - or at least mine - was not having some CS1 essential mods included and the traffic AI, which I think is horrible. Lack of assets is a shame, but that don't make the game unplayable at all. Videos in the Camera mod can be up to 2 minutes. Sure it will be a mega game in one year. I can compare with the launch of CS1, but for what I understood, is more or less the same situation.
The performance issue is once making a big city. Its way worse than the first game, the simulation speed becomes unplayable even with the best cpus in existence.
Just gotta say in advance of your video on value for money.... I have 720 hours in and only a few complaints. Sure, its a progression, but it is getting there. We just need the content/asset editor to make it fly. Still a few bugs, but nothing that would make me go full negative on it. CS:1 was a total mess at launch, and had no where near the features we see in CS:2. All the same a pretty good summary BonBon.
Thousands of hours in CS1 - still not touched CS2. We need to stop pumping money into companies releasing half baked products. Absolute joke that this was released in the state it was.
Not quite yet but it's getting there. It's coming along pretty nicely imo. The level of detail one can do is SO MUCH easier to produce in this than CS1. You can really do some nice work much easier and without ever leaving the game. I see other Creators uploading videos that are fine?
I don't get much time to watch too many other creators. Those cinematics I have seen from others tend to be tailored to suit the camera. I could do that, but like long pans.
The other creators also have a full time vested interest in selling you CS2. They're the same ones who willingly and knowingly agreed to hide the lag issues they experienced pre-launch.
I just love this game and get stuck playing it for hours and hours, its so complex and even though there is a large learning curve at the beginning there always seems to be something new to discover, or maybe I'm just a noob and am easily impressed with nice graphics. No real complaints for me but I will add that I cannot bring myself to play the game with no money restrictions as It just feels like cheating, also I have a really nice gaming PC so maybe this helps a lot in terms of lag and other issues that some people seem to be having and also I never get cities to more than approx 100k citizens. Nice video as its so interesting to see what others think of this game who have been playing it for years earlier compared to other people who are new to it.
You were right to give the lowest possible score to lack of Workshop assets. It is ridiculous that the sequel removed User Content and Steam Workshop. I keep saying this but, to me, it is the single biggest reason I won't touch CS2. We have had years of building any type of "city" one could imagine and the sequel wants us to be content with a terribly cartoon European "big modern city" look that I just hate. That and Paradox's decision to not allow a Steam Workshop makes me think they are becoming too big for their supporters, like EA and other developers who more and more locked their content behind their own Launchers, mandatory accounts, etc. It is very obvious that Paradox found the User Generated Content of CS1 on the Steam Workshop to be too much competition. They repeatedly took users' ideas and repackaged it as lame DLCs, and now it appears they won't even allow user ideas for CS2, but will likely continue to mine the CS workshop for lackluster DLC content.
Game optimisation as a +1? Dude, I can't imagine how strong must be stuff you are smoking. My i9 and RTX 3070Ti is not enough for a 200k population city. Vanilla!
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying it's well optimised. I'm judging against my previous wishes. I wanted a 'better optimised game', and this is better optimised than CS1. Based on that alone it had to get a positive score. In other news, I've never smoked anything. Tobacco. Weed. Even salmon. Unless you count incinerating sausages on a barbecue...

Mihgt be true, even you can be more creative whit cs1
I saw your thumbnail "3 1/2 Years Later" and almost had a stroke because I could've sworn CS:2 came out last October.
It did come out last October ;-)
Same thought here :)

You know, that might be it. I'll have a look for the mod. Thanks.

The shortcomings of the water mechanic are really noticeable when trying to make a map. So hard to use and make it look proper.
Honestly, they’re still finding their footing with this game. I have confidence in it and them.
"borderline horrific" on the outside the map area is such an understatement.... nice take on the game :)

Hi, what is your current pc spec and how's the game running for you term of fps? Thanks for the helpful video.

Indeed.
I need to build a new city to give an updated review on the game itself.

Road Builder Mod has helped save this game, I think, BBB... 😏
ffs, i had a heart attack when i saw 3,5 years, im getting old and time fly by fast, but surely not that fast :)
Clickbaity thumbnails are clickbaity. But also true in this case ;-)

Cities Skylines FOREVER
CS2 NEEEEEEEEEVER
Great Video as always BonBonB. You already know my position. Keep up the good work.
Good video mate! such a shame 😞
i miss your videos
I gave up long ago
i agree. CS2 is disappointing. i bought but haven’t played it for months. CS1 is just a better game.
Maybe you can give another opportunity to the game, it improved a lot in the last months.
This is just a city painter in pre alpha stage.Just go and play Simcity 4 or Theo Town
what a joke, those games dont even compare
LOL wrong but everyone gets an opinion.
Both of these games are games where you can only build in 2 maybe 4 axis at most. That's not fun at all.
@@Mr_Topek both of these games feels like a game , not like a city painter.
No no it isn’t 😢
😆
Very few of your criticism are good.
I dunno, I thought I was pretty fair :-)
