@@rickpijnenburg5391 It's not ideal but it still takes a quite good melee/mage build with tier 5 relics to beat a half decent range build with tier 6 relic on the olm hands due to never missing or splashing. try out some dps calcs yourself and you'll find it's actually still really insane dps on the hands even with the hands only taking 66% damage. Think about how you can no longer splash and don't need to drain the melee hands defense with dwh specs etc and its pretty insane really. Rune crossbow with void and t6 relic for example has 14 dps on both olm hands which is more than strong enough really and for running the head and not having to worry about missing at all is pretty nice

@@rickpijnenburg5391 it doesnt sound great on paper but after looking at a dps calc we are so op its still better dps than max gear is for the correct hand in main game so it shouldnt feel too bad
I think the crux of this argument comes down to Zuk. Last leagues less than 5% of players killed zuk. This league more will try for sure, but I doubt the number gets to 20%. So for most players maxing out one combat style is better since you won't be able to make it to tier 5 in 2 styles, one tier will be stuck at 4.
One thing you don't mention is with T6 ranged most of your gear doesn't matter. You can go tank gear with very little reduction to DPS. So not only are you always hitting but your not getting hit back as hard.
60% of prayer penetration with T6 ranged will still melt akkha and wardens, you get more than twice the dps you get with absolute max gear scythe in main game
Yeah was quite confused when he said it was one of the worst for ranged. Youre never missing, hitting super fast and through protection prayers seems ideal for ToA
Tbf, scythe is absolute garbage in TOA. And comparing anything to main game is a very different discussion than comparing relic setups against each other.
It's worth noting that 2-tile melee weapons will work on bosses they previously didn't. I distinctly remember them saying Zulrah, so I suspect levi too
@@chestergardner300 No problem! Today's live stream they clarified further. They only did this because Tirannwyn is aimed to be a melee area and had no melee bosses available! You may even have access to Crystal Halberd there without Western Diary
Personally I think tier 6 is gonna be huge for echo bosses. Without knowing their mechanics it seems T6 is not worth it some cases, but I'm gonna bet that they didn't put the passive there for nothing.
Possibly intentionally missed out echo weaps due to it making the analysis even more tricky, but I would imagine many will use a BP (either toxic or drygore) for range build, also melee might reach some of the out of reach bosses with the echo salamander.
I cant decide between t6 range/t4 melee and just t5/t5, sucks to miss out on faster melee weap for t5, but i dont wanna miss out on never missing with range
6-4-0 vs 5-5-0 is barely 2 dps increase for melle. I’m really thinking to go 5-5-0 but only reason I’m skeptical is it even worth to get that ranged 2 tick tbow with t6 ranged relic. Any thoughts?
T6 range will increase most range DPS a lot more than people think. Between ZCB and Tbow, t6 range will completely dominate the meta. That being said, I think I’m going 5-5-0 because I want to try both melee and range and t6r, while easy mode, completely defeats most of the challenge and therefore most of the fun (for me).
@ yes i mean t6 melle is super underwhelming. I think t5 relic ranged can give solid hybrid build as im also not interested in taking down bosses in few secs rather than its fun if its mechanically challenging. Thanks for input
personally im going t6 range because i find it more fun to use range than Melee, and never missing will be amazing when. you grind different bosses etc,
you always hit. dear god this is gonna be fun with diamond bolts. and the atk speed increase. also i keep seeing people say dbow is gonna be MASSIVE but no one ever says why??? am i missing something bout my fav spec weapon from then. i used to mage a lot and had high range so my strat was to spec with dbow. and the guaranteed hits made it great.
Because with the spec relic you can spam 5x dbow with 3t attack speed making it a really strong option, however tiranwn offers very little ranged if youre going desert so kinda not worth
@@SmokeLK-7T2 Dbow will be 4t, not 3t unfortunately. It's a 9t weapon base, and only 8t on rapid. Funtionally 2t since it's 2 attacks every 4t, but dps calcs have it kind of underwhelming. Was really dissapointed we didnt get some kind of damage modifier for slower weapons because I really wanted to make use of dbow more. There are some use cases for it rn even without specialist at least.
You clearly know more than i do as im a leagues only player, but one point i think you glossed over quite quickly is that your calculations and endorsements for '5 range' builds were done all done assuming you had max range gear. Again, perhaps im just not playing the same way as some of you but requiring yourself to already have a few dozen TOA done before 'you can play the game' seems like a massive downside for me. The 2t guaranteed minimum hit with these weapons, whether thats with tbow, crossbow or 1t blowpipe is plenty enough for me.
@@LilratbagsOsrs I actually wanted to go mage this year but after the combat tier reveal and the promise i made last leagues to never base my strategy on getting a mega rare (that i never got) i decided it wasnt worth the grind. I figured that since i could knock out T6 in probably the first day or 2 im going to have way more fun over the course of the entire league instead of just hoping for a shadow or scythe. Keep an eye out for me, ill be the naked guy in mole slippers throwing darts at vorkath.
Not relevant to the video, But do you think the last recall relic, and the one that’s boosts your stats to 255 will be op? Die via poison near a boss, set your last recall, then hit the boss get healed, and get the stats back up. Only thing I can think is you’d need a lot of food to heal coz when you recall you’ll be put to 200+ stats but to one hp, Maybe oknly useful with melee and blood fury
I hadn't thought about that strat, the one that I thought people would be doing is the dogsword with 20% special attack. Having seen how strong the builds are this year, I think slapping every boss with a 2 tick weapon and 100% accuracy will be hard to beat. Whilst a strat like that could do if perfected, it will be by such a small amount it's really only worth it at a select few bosses.
@ yeah I’m just thinking jagex also may have not thought about it, and instead it takes you to 200+ stats but doesn’t activate the drain, and it will just drain at normal speed, which would be hilarious.
@ die to poison might work? Not sure but I’m hoping it will work. I won’t be getting to that point before big streamers and stuff figure it out anyway.
Also according to wiki chambers of xeric/strategies both hands have 66% damage mitigation from other attack styles. Wikis dps calculator also backs this up
Any 5t weapon will be 2t. The rounding up or down is based on the starting tick rate of the weapon so if the weapon is 5t or above initially it will round down regardless of the decimal. In this case 5t * 0.5 would be 2.5 and we round down since the initial tick rate was at 5 or above down to 2t.

You said no damage reduction for olm which is wrong. Olm reduces your ranged dmg on hands by 2/3rd. You even see it with your ruby spec.
Thanks theme, didn't realise that.
yeah the DR on olm hands makes the entire raid so much worse, about half the time spent in the raid you wont get full damage with your main style.
