- I can't believe it's my eight year publiversary! I'm so happy to be able to share some takeaways from my publishing journey. I usually make a video like this each year and am excited to continue the tradition. Raising a glass and hoping I live to publish another 50-60 years! Can you imagine my backlist in 2070? LOL!

Congratulations!! I often reflect back over the last 6 years and wonder what if. What if I never wrote the book? What if I had given up when my income was at a standoff? If I had given up, I wouldn't be making the four figures a month that I am... Is it where I want to be? No. But I'm not going to stop now. I'll make my dreams come true one day at a time. I'm resilient and determined.

I have allowed myself to live in regret for walking away when I was part of the beginning days of authortube (had a different youtube channel back then) but my mental health took a horrible dive, as well as some life circumstances, and I let one off week turn to two, then ten, and next thing I knew, years had passed. So, the thought of even coming back after so much lost time feels daunting.
I was reading old manuscripts the other day and I miss those days when I was engulfed in stories and constantly writing. I want to come back to that. Trying to find that spark again.

This video was inspirational. I’m in that place where it feels like to be left out and feel as if you’re not “good enough.” I’ve been made to feel like that often in this industry and it can make you want to quit or wonder what’s wrong with me or what I’m doing. But I also know this is the only thing I want to do. The only thing I’ve ever dreamed of doing since I was a kid. Those “in-authors” aren’t going to stop me. I just have to believe there’s a reason that opportunity didn’t happen to me. Keep my head down and just keep writing. ♥️

Congratulations on 8 years!! Here's to many more!! My issue is that I ALWAYS put others first and I feel guilty when I want to sit and write. Then I get upset with myself and I end up not writing. I am fortunate to be able to stay home and focus on my writing goals. I just need to push forward and learn to be resilient.

I’ve always loved writing, but I’ve always been told to go to college, get a corporate job. Your videos show me it is possible to make a career out of something I’m passionate about.
My middle/high school English teacher had just started writing her first book when I was in the 7th or 8th grade. She pulled me to the side and told me I had something she rarely sees and asked me to promise to never stop writing. At the time, I laughed and moved on to the next class, but it’s definitely something in my head every time I write.
For me, my teacher was the most influential in my decision to start writing books. I haven’t published, but I knew when I started my first in my series that this was something I wanted more than anything. I don’t know if I would’ve ever opened that first Word document if my teacher hadn’t said what she did when I was 13, and I don’t know if I’d have kept going if I didn’t find these videos.

Oohff, I could feel the physical pain you were in, searching for diplomatic things to say about KU. 😂 This April will mark my third year self-publishing. That’s right! I didn’t grow up saying I wanted to be a writer, lol. I did keep a journal when I was a teenager and wrote emo poetry and lyrics for a rock band I was in, but that’s about it. No prior experience, just a bunch of little nudges from my high school English teacher and college professors!
