To what extent do you judge a book by its cover, when deciding whether or not a novel may be for you? How much value do you place on the blurb? Tell me in comments right here! Would also love to hear what you make of the Ghoster cover. I thank you. By the way, if you enjoy this channel, you have the option of buying me a coffee at www.ko-fi.com/arnopp. Just sayin’, like.
Must be a great feeling to finally be holding that in your hands. I cannot wait to be doing the same next month! I have occasionally checked out books solely because I like the covers! It's not always worked out well, but sometimes it has. Yes, I do look at the blurbs, but I don't know that I've ever purchased a book because of another author's recommendation. (For example, I'm a huge Stephen King fan, but have yet to like any book he's personally recommended. Funny that.) The Jack Sparks cover is a classic one, but I actually only own the digital version at the moment. I believe I picked that one because Goodreads thought I might like it (and that was one of the best recommendations EVER). Love the dedication to your mum.
Hey, thanks so much for the comment, I really appreciate it. It's also great to hear that Goodreads recommended The Last Days Of Jack Sparks to you in some way or other!
A smashing cover (the faded ‘O’ is a nice touch). If I didn’t already know your work I’d certainly pick it up. Very much looking forward to ‘Ghoster’, but there’s another bloody month to wait! Time to revisit Jack methinks! By the way, Jack Sparks is one of the most original, entertaining and downright disturbing horror novels I’ve ever read and believe me I’ve read a helluva lot of ‘em. Much of the recent output by some the ‘big’ names in the genre (although damn fine reads) are almost instantly forgettable, they didn’t inject their evil magic into my mind the way Jack Sparks has. So, yeah, roll on 24 October!
Marpy Mellow Hey, thanks so much for the very kind words. I’ll take “evil magic”, for sure! 👌👻 Really hope you have a good time with Ghoster if you do pick it up.
Hi Jason! Recently discovered you and your work through Rachel from TheShadesofOrange Booktube Channel. I'm definitely more of a blurb guy but a clearly defined horror cover does attract my attention. I normally do my book shopping online now, thanks to the pandemic, but when going through a physical book store, it helps if I know it's a horror book just by the cover unless I already have a specific book in mind. Digressing a little, it does help that I can easily pull up the title on Goodreads while at the store so I'd know if it's my kind of book. P.S. Your books are on my Amazon list!
Hey there! My apologies for the belated reply. Thanks so much for watching, commenting AND having my work on your Amazon list. :) It's also great to hear that the excellent Rachel's coverage of my work translates to interest of my books and this channel. Awesome! Hope you enjoy The Last Days Of Jack Sparks and Ghoster if you do check 'em out!
Blimey! I’ve been subbed this past year but had no idea you were a writer. I saw this channel publicised at Whovian Leap on Twitter and assumed you were just a Dr Who and horror fan with a UA-cam channel 😃 Though I guess you might say you ARE a Dr Who and horror fan with a UA-cam channel! Lol! Hmm, only just noticed on banner it actually says you’re a Dr Who writer. How did I miss that?!
MightyJonE Haha, that’s funny. Sometimes I wonder if I talk about my books too much on my channel, but this suggests I may not! 🤣 And yes, I am very much a Doctor Who and horror fan with a YT channel. 💪

@@jarnopp Cheers, Mr. Arnopp! I look forward to reading them. 😁
Love the cover!!
Thanks Martine! And I have to say, I do too. My publisher did an incredible job with it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
