The 150r is quite high compression for a petrol, 12 or 13:1 I believe. Most diesels are around 16:1 so I guess coupled with the fact the bike runs quite hot, it managed to run on diesel!
That's what helped my Nissan GA16DE engine on diesel, is because it was saying to the computer "hey dude there's a lot of unburned fuel here in the exhaust, so lean her off a heap" and when it was soooo lean it was very hot and actually able to burn the diesel at that temperature, also it's 12-1 cr might have helped. You normally get the unburned diesel ending up in the sump and contaminating the oil, which being way overfill starts smoking a lot
@@zzeroo-m8l Are you sure? Since the engine is much more lubricated with diesel, I don't see why it would damage it. Gas is dry, so using a low octane gas in this engine could damage it by lack of lubrication, but the opposite????

This is funny. You obviously have no concept of fuels and how they work. You put jet fuel in a 2 stroke it won’t run.. it’s jp8/ k1. Now nitro in a gas engine.. that will run if you get the fuel metering right.
In the olden days, there were heavy machines that started on gasoline and once they were warm, could be switched over to kerosene via the same carburettor. The US military also had rather complex gas/jet/diesel multi fuel engines.
you have the perfect bike for this due to the bike being a very hot bike. Also the fuel mixture of deisel and regular 4 stroke gas is not that far from each other.
@DRH clan defiance if the diesel is vaporized enough through the carburetor jets and in a hot motor, it will ignite from the spark, if it ignites from just heat and compression it will knock and pre-ignite randomly/badly lol 😆
Back in about 1994 when I was a young mechanic, my boss got a call from a dude who had filled up his fairly newish Silverado (it was a C1500, so 88 - 98) with diesel by mistake, then started it. He called, and my boss told him "don't shut it down, drive it straight here and stay where you can get to the breakdown lane in case it stalls". It had started just fine on the gasoline in the fuel lines. When dude pulled up, it was belching smoke pretty good, and it would not restart after it was turned off. I jumpered the fuel pump, and ran all the diesel out of the tank, then changed the plugs, put about a quarter tank in it, and drove it like a madman to slosh it around and get whatever residue mixed with the gas, and drove it dry. That was a long time customer, and I don't think it had anything other than some minor issues going forward as a result. I think we had to replace the fuel pump not terribly long after. Diesel fuel can eat rubber parts, like valve stem seals, injector seals, O-rings - but the fuel system had all nitrile O-rings, so they were fine.

Wash the rings, won't start on straight diesel or k1. Do the same on 2 stroke, drain tank put 100+ octane and 2 mothballs per quart. Start bike on fuel in carb, about 20-30 feet the fuel will be hitting the cylinder, MONSTER hill climb!! It will have a come apart if ran long, and will seize piston when clutched. Ya I've done stuff too.juice it !!
You should try running a bike on alcohol. Also I think the reason the YZ blew up and not the CRF, is because the YZ was 2 stroke and you didn't mix oil in the diesel.
i used to run a twostroke 30cc spartamet motorized bicycle on 1/4 diesel and gasoline, when it was cold it didnt like to start but once it was hot and running it had more topspeed and torque
I have run my 125cc moped on any mix you can think of for experiment, toluene works like gas but all of them have trouble starting when cold cause i didn't had a choke on the carburetor. With diesel i went to 50% or a little over and was just plain normal just a little smoke on the traffic lights. These things run on anything.
What about a distil of something and or biofuel? Diesel seems then will get you from A to B, but I heard a distilled fuel (from a biomass) get to hot and will blow an engine?
My Vietnamese friend told me in Vietnam they would start a Honda 90 ( some had an auxiliary fuel tank)with gas while cruising switch to diesel. When arriving at destination switch back to gas. I asked him why he said gas was expensive diesel was cheap.
This goes to show how terrible and thin diesel is Nowadays. I'm certainly glad I run an additive in my pickup to help my injectors. Nice to know the bike can run on diesel by jetting up slightly. Kinda makes me want one for a beater trail bike.
