This is more of a general question,
from somebody only familiar with 2D sonar and considering diving in to live imaging,
to those who already have (and have gained some firsthand experience besides).
i'm under the impression...
(and it makes some intuitive sense, as an angle of incidence grows, the angles of reflection become less favorable, i suppose?),
...that the usefullness of what gets displayed, is better when over deeper water than shallower water.
A) Is this true?
B) Is it a matter of less potentially occluded 'line of (sonar) sight', when over a deeper water column, a transducer array is able to 'see' more through mostly empty water?
C) Can we define what 'shallow' or 'deep' might mean, for LS?
For example, let's just say one is situated over a bare sand or mud flat. Is there a practical limit to just how shallow it can be, before the LS system runs into 'difficulty'?
What if instead, the shallow flat features a smattering of stumps or big rocks in all directions... are there now a bunch of effective 'blind spots' at greater and greater range?
D) How about performance in and around say, a tall bed of milfoil? Does one just see a 'jungle' of clutter on the display (no matter how it is 'tuned'),
OR
are you still able (if all settings are properly adjusted) to distinguish clearly between cover and fish situated within or moving through it?
E) What's the technical learning curve like? Iow's, just how long might one expect to gain competence with the necessary settings/adjustments?
Being loathe to jump in expecting one thing but then discovering another,
i very much appreciate 'going to school' on the hard-won experience of the 'pioneers' of newer technology.
Ok I’ll try to Awnser all your questions-
In shallow water I have used livescope in as little as 4 ft in forward , down and perspectives modes with great success.
As far as having blind spots behind rocks, stumps trees etc with this technology you see all sides of objects so there are no blind spots o have even used this on lakes with culverts under water and am able to see fish inside of it.
When fishing in milfoil or tall grass weeds with livescope we can still pick out fish because of its return is brighter then the weeds return and or see movement from the fish. Which makes it fairly easy to see them.
I would call the technical learning curve very little if you understand the basics of what you are looking at I would say livescope is easier then looking at side scan to pick out fish and depict structures.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Great job for a first look, can't wait to see you play with it and fill us in more. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
appreciate you putting the time in to make the video. gave you a like for that. but i don't see much side by side comparison. It's mostly all the LVS34 and a few quick shots of the LVS32; but not both of the screens side by side so we can compare the image or you showing that you optimized the settings for each.
I fish a ton of open water and analyze bait balls, the LVS32 will see schools 100' on forward view also. I also put it in to perspective mode while trolling and mark bait 140' out so I can steering right through it. Every single day is different depending on the water etc, and settings are sometimes adjusted slightly.
I came here because I've had an LVS32 for only about 4 months and have used it with great success, but am a little troubled that the LVS34 came out so shortly after my purchase and I too want to see a side by side comparison of what i'm missing.
I would say there is better target separation but not enough to change your ability to locate fish and catch them. The image is cleaned up as well but again, not enough to make a difference that I can see currently.
That's just my two cents for anyone else on here trying to decide if they need to upgrade their LVS32.
The 2.57 black box update really messed up my LVS32; so i pushed it back to 2.55 and am running 19.20 on the control head. Currently, I can't justify buying a LVS34 to replace my LVS32. There will only continue to be updates and improvements for both.
Is the LVS34 better? Absolutely. I would buy the lvs34 if i was just getting in to livescope. But is it worth the price point to upgrade from a LVS32.... not currently.
I really like this I already have a 32. Was considering another 32. But after seeing this. I’m convinced to get me a 34. Thanks
THAT WAS QUICK!! Thanks for the comparison on these. Needed to see this 🙌🏼
We were to excited to wait to be honest! We are going to do more of these in our next episodes!
Great comparison and video! Good work guys! I cannot wait to get mine.
Thanks for watching!
Best side by side review of the LVS32 and LVS34 that I've found! I'm a long time LVS32 user, and needed to see this type of comparison to determine if it's worth spending $1200 to buy the new LVS34 transducer. Based on your video, I'm definitely pulling the trigger!
*Looks good even in daylight **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it was exactly what it was described to be , works awesome , overall happy with product*
Awesome video and comparison. Thank you! I laughed at that snowbear flex though 😉👍 Love it!
💪💪
Thanks for the video!! Can't wait to get my hands on a LVS34 but until then the 32 will do
We have not had the chance to test perspective yet.
Great video! I love the comparison.
Thank you!
Take my $$$$ Great video!!!! I was on the fence and now I know what I need to know!! Thanks
GREAT Video! Interesting how the new transducer has the similar design of a competitor.Hmmm
Will the lvs34 mount to the same mount for perspective view as the 32. I have the 34 on preorder and wanted to order an after market bracket from Fishobessed that they make for the LVS32 Thanks advance for your input!!!
Which one does the 8412 come with? where do they sell the zero degree pole bracket at?
Nice video. How does the LVS34 perform in perspective mode vs LVS32?
This is the only video I found for new livescope plus on ice. Answered a lot of question from me. One more question, is it drains more juice from battery compared to original livescope? Thank you.
Thanks for info, Kentucky
Awesome mines on preorder!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome!
Have you guys used the lvs34 in like 100-130’ of water yet? Curious if it’s usable in those depths ?
Is it ideal for shallow waters like 5-15 feet ? And also How dose this unit preform in the weeds ?
Hows the depth on the 34?? Fishing deep for lake trout? Will it read down to 80-90ft?
Will they have it in an ice bundle kit or how will they release it
f a want to keep my Lvs-32 and buy the new Lvs-34 .Can i put the Lvs-32 in the back in perspective
I see you put the Lvs-34 in the front motor in summer .What you do when you are on Spot Lock
What kinda carrying case are you using?
Awesome video bud! Question.. I have livescope set up already on the boat. Does the black box work with both? I have a 106sv ultra would that work with that?
Yes your current black box will work.
Impossible to have the lvs 34 in canada I order the transducer more than a month now and maybe at the end off may I will have that’s crazy
Nice.. just sub..what screen you guys using?
How far down can it track your lure before it starts disappearing? That's the issue me and other guys have been experiencing on the LVS32. With my LVS32 Ive struggled tracking my lure in 80 plus ft of water in down view.
We have not had a opportunity to test depth yet unfortunately but we are expecting it to perform much better in deeper water!
Great Video guys!
Thanks!
Great video!
Thanks Jay!
Does the new lvs34 set level or turned up one notch?? Kentucky
Where can we buy this unit?
I spoke with Garmin support and they said the Echomap Plus 93sv wasn't officially supported with the LVS34 because it lacked the necessary refresh rate, but that it would likely work. Have you tested that at all?
We are working on getting an answer for you from Garmin but for now the list of compatible devices can be found here: www.garmin.com/en-US/p/849965#devices
I'd be curious to see too, I'm holding off on upgrading my Plus until the next gen above the Echomap UHD is released, but I'd love to get a LVS34
If you are new to livescope, would you buy the 34, or get a little more locked in with the 32 then upgrade after a while?
Our recommendation for upgrading is whenever you are financially ready for it. Between the two units they are going to function essentially the same way with the 34 providing greater detail, and range which may make learning the tech easier
Hmmm, I'll test against the Active Target when it becomes available, because looking at this video I believe the Active Target is better than the Plus.
I purchased the panoptix then I purchased the livescope then another upgrade but for criss sake can yhall get all your engineers on the Transducer cored it's to soft n brittle 14oo+15oo+1100= up to 4k make my money worth wild
I'm so mad I just bought the lvs32 didn't even know about the 34☹
Did you have to do any updates in order to get the most out of the LVS34 or are you still using an older version of software ?
We had to update to 19.10
@@FishAddictionsTV I updated to 19.20 because I sort of expected that it would be needed for the LVS34. Thanks for the Info !!
Nice side by side comparison video. The only thing I feel is missing is the side by side comparison.
Totally agree. Was hoping for a side by side screen of the same shot (obviously ducers next to eachother). Been watching to many video game reviews.
I think the comparison was at the end for a brief moment, lol... glare, dirty screen and grid lines.
Wow, way to push the new product. If you're having trouble getting a good clear picture at 60' to 80 of fish or anything, you need to make some adjustments in your unit.. I get the push for new products, but nothing you showed in this video about the new transducer is any different then the 'old' LVS32.. I want to try one, but it will need to show better results.'
Thanks for watching and your feedback we did show fish at well over 100 ft very clear and tight to bottom at this distances no ghost trees etc. sorry it wasn’t what you were looking for. Thanks again.
What jacket is that ?
That is the new superior suit from eskimo.
How size auger are you running?
8" pistol bit
@@FishAddictionsTV 6in probably wouldn't fit my guess
Btw appreciate for this vid! Thank you!!!
@@toulonglor6243 The 6" would be a tight fit for sure. We will try to test it as soon as we can.
Meh, not really sold on the 34
Will it fit down a 6 or 7 inch hole
7 inch I’d say yes 6 inch we will try it out.
🤤
Livescope, it's like taking a stick of dynamite and throwing it in the water. Thankfully some of us don't need it to catch fish. I always recommend to people that struggle to catch fish to invest in the 'Cheating Technology' of livescope.
Is it really cheating if all you do is pond hop and only get one day a week to fish so you don't want to have a bust 7 weeks in a row because of flooding and odd weather
Nice ad. How much did get you paid by Garmin?
This is a first hand account not an add.
Not worth upgrading wait till lvs36.
I can see a school of crappies on my lvs32 at 135 feet🤷🏼♂️ with my gain at 55-60%
That’s awesome definitely not as clear as the 34 but that awesome you can see to 135 ft! Thanks for watching Garmin and livescope definitely is an awesome tool to have.
Thats odd. My lvs32 could see out 100 ft with no issues. 50ft shouldnt be a problem at all.
I have never had luck seeing fish on bottom at 100 ft out to 80 yes but never a 100 glad the LVS 32 is working for you to 100.
With respect, you barely show us side by side comparisons.
Exactly my thoughts. I've been waiting for a side by side video and this was not it.
I don’t disagree we could have had more but keep in mind this was our first look at this as well and we have a lot of clips of the same school. We are working on just a side by side with multiple looks with multiple species. Thanks for the feedback much appreciated.
@Mike Olson Fishaddictions Really looking forward to a true side by side video. They are hard to come by right now. I am waiting to see it before pulling the trigger on the lvs34
