  • This week it’s the first part of our Orkney special. We jump in Daisy the camper van and catch the ferry from the Scottish mainland to Stromness on the Orkney mainland with DeNiro the Greyhound.
Huge beaches, beautiful scenery and history everywhere you look, what’s not to like?
We head to one of our favourite overnight stops as Iain introduces Bex and DeNiro to his favourite beach. Sand and shipwrecks.. awesome.
Brilliant wee adventure. Well apart from, after not cycling for a year, deciding to jump on the bikes and cycle the length of South Ronaldsay.. and back again.
    Ouch. Bit hilly.
A huge thank you to everyone who's supported our wee channel so far, if you'd like to help support our wee adventures you can do it through through our Ko-Fi or Patreon.
All our videos are hand made from 100% organic ingredients ;). Our content is mostly filmed on a GoPro 11 with a Rode fluffy microphone to keep the wind noise down, with occasional bits on an iPhone13. We also use a DJI Mini 3 drone which we're loving getting to grips with.
We make our own music using GarageBand and the videos are edited in iMovie.
If you'd like to buy DeNiro a biscuit (and he's a good boy, honest) you can via our Ko-Fi link at www.ko-fi.com/S....
If you'd like to become a patron of our wee channel we also have a patreon at / scotlandonashoestring
We also have an Etsy shop where we sell some of our hand made items. It's at dandbbythesea....

The history , beauty, and more is so thrilling. Crochet is all about numbers and patterns of stunning beauty. Crochet socks and slippers cozy and so warm.

I like to crochet and knit in public. You meet lots of people that don't know the difference. Thanks for taking us to Orkney. Loved it there on our visit. Jane

Best part of this video, everything. Second best part seeing those affordable prices on restaurant menu's. Ferry ride (awesome), Fearsome Viking (also awesome), DeNiro's Zoomies (slow down boy), Bec's Crocheting (a van cover is in the works), can't wait until next week.

Great video! Lovely to see around Kirkwall as I have friends who live there, looks like a very interesting place - thank you for sharing and I hope you’re all enjoying your trip.

Kirkwall is brilliant, as is the rest of Orkney. We only just scratched the surface.

My grandfather worked on the Churchill Barriers alongside the Italian prisoners of war. He used to send a dozen eggs home every week. Not one was ever broken. The Balfour Beatty men used to buy jewellery from the Italians to give them some pocket money. My granny had a ring made out of a sixpence.

It’s so cool to have that sort of a connection to such an iconic place!

St Magnus’ is incredible. Amazing grave yard too and the bishop’s and Earl’s palaces are also worth a visit.

Aww DeNiro had too much fun bless him! Yes I shouted 'it's a hook!' too Bex lol. Great book finds, I can't knit but I love the book - but have to go with Iain's choice, I used to read them too (well pinch them from my Grandad lol). The Cathedral is stunning, shame to see it wearing away though, the joys of sandstone 😞

We definitely need to visit Orkney! If only for the charity shops! ;)
Buy a cool house somewhere in gorgeous Scotland and we'll come and be your first Airbnb customers!

So many listings there and acreage. That conversion is listed at 150k. Sounds like it's roughed in or just cleaned out for that price.
Beautiful place, you are so fortunate to experience.

I't been gutted and ready for someone to finish off. The roof and windows have been done, and the utilities connected, so it's a perfect project for someone with the time and money.

The junior ba' continues to this day. It was the women's ba' that was stopped as it was rather violent!

I picked up a couple of large crochet hooks and some odd balls of yarn at a charity shop about a month ago. It's all your fault, Bex. 😂 I'm going to try to learn how to crochet, since I'm trash at knitting. 🙁 I hope you try your hand at some of the easier toys. 🤔😉😍

    What is tat?

    • @scotlandonashoestring
      @scotlandonashoestring  2 місяці тому +1

Tat is a loose term for things that don’t really have a purpose. Cheap ornaments and that sort of thing.
