Had an 09 Camry with 4cyl. Was burning excessive oil, at 100,000 miles dealership replaced pistons and rings. Cost me $0 and solved the oil issue. Made it to almost 200k before selling it.
Yep tell her to contact a dealership...Toyota might have a free fix for that burning....doesn't hurt to ask! 198,000 miles and the Camry still runs great....Toyota quality!
My cousin with a PHD drove her car until it stopped...for good because of no oil. And even worse, the production engineer on my line also drove her car until the engine stopped. Both thought it was just some light (red) that you'd let them know about the next time you were in for service. 😮
Wow that’s more than a few miles she will likely need to top up between changes which is actually more normal than many people might think. For example the old sigmas that were so common here in Australia got the worst reputation for random engine failure that they really didn’t deserve if you actually read the service instructions for the car it actually states the car needs to have the oil topped off between services as the oil consumption from new was quite high which isn’t great for emissions I suppose but if the oil was kept up the engines were actually fairly reliable. I still see them getting around 20-30 years later so they couldn’t have been that bad an engine the main take away is people check your oil kinda why the engine gas a dipstick after all it’s not just there for the mechanic really oil should be checked at least monthly I would say takes all of 30 seconds.
Your car has an oil level sensor reporting low oil level. Many cars do. This Toyota does not. The light is coming on to warn of impending doom for this Toyota.
Wow. Good informative video. 👍
Genie Light. I tell customers it is a STOP driving your car right now light.
Haha, I'll go with that next time.

The 2AZ-FE engine is the one with oil consumption problems. I'm glad my RAV4 has the 2AR-FE engine.

Are these not the same engines Toyota made back in the 80? They were legendary back then.
My low oil light comes on when the car is only 1 quart low I have a bmw and it comes on before its drastically low on oil.
