Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy won a ton of Academy Awards and revolutionized the fantasy genre on the big screen. With an amazing cast and incredible special effects, the Fellowship of the Ring really took the world by storm when it came out in 2001.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring raises a few questions (aside from the question about how many times the word “the” appears in the title.) Like why did Sauron try to grab Isuldur instead of smashing him like everyone else? Why didn’t Elrond try a tiny bit harder to stop him? Why does Frodo keep getting stabbed? Why is everyone walking so much? Where did Gandalf go? How did they agree to shoot all three movie simultaneously? What about the eagles?

I liked the 11 hour Director's cut more than the theatrical ones.

Other way around ... Frodo says it to Gandalf, at the very start of the movie. Frodo is asking what caused the personality change in his uncle Bilbo, since he left with Gandalf during the events of the Hobbit. Gandalf just smiles, and doesn’t respond, and Frodo says “alright then, keep your secrets”

But there’s (sort of) good reason in the book. If he just disappears, the Nazgul will be onto him. So Frodo builds an elaborate cover story of moving yo the next town over and buying another house where he plants his friend disguised as him to throw off any suspicion.

I mean they spend most of the books walking. It's a take about trekking across the known world on foot, its going to have some walking. It wouldn't make much sense if it didn't. And then you get the new Rings of Power which people slam for having characters and whole armies just kind of arriving in places without any explanation. Two guys set out walking with only the clothes on their backs like it's an afternoon stroll and end up immediately hundreds of miles away wearing the same clothes, like they just casually took a stroll over there.
Screenwriter guy: “I’m gonna need Gandalf to get aaaalllll the way off the eagle’s back before getting to Mordor”
Gandalf: “Okay, let me get off that thing real quick”

I don’t know why people are still on the issue of them not using the eagles to fly to Mordor. Tolkien’s son said that the the reason they didn’t fly the eagles there is because the eagles wouldn’t enter Mordor because of the Nazgul.

I really just feel like Sean Beans wants to be part of all these colossal projects but doesn't want to to have to be around for more than one movie, so he just specifically takes the role of the person that dies and then milks the royalties from flashbacks in all the movies he didn't film.

When compared to the other pitch meetings... it really makes you see how complex the Lord of the Rings really is. Normally the movies seem very simple in concept during the pitch meeting, but here it seems to be all over the place ... but it was really easy to follow the story when actually watching. Trully a masterpiece of a movie.

@@saymyname2417 Definition for scum (verb): "become covered with a layer of dirt or froth.", which is kinda how the orcs are born; covered like that. Since Ryan is playing a higher up at a pitch meeting in Hollywood in these sketches, he's basically saying he was born the same way, being scum and all... And stated it nonchalantly like it's normal, to be extra sarcastic about it.
He always puts clever commentary in like that, but it goes over some people's heads or can be lost in translation if English isn't your first language.
