I followed your instructions, and your parts list. I bought everything from HD online. It only took 2 days to receive it (no HD in my small town.) It's working like a charm!! Easy to open and close. Great water flow/pressure. NO LEAKS!!! I did reverse the handle 180 degrees to fit my application. THANK YOU for this great video!!!
I think you just saved my brain at Home Depot. I was looking for a lever shut off for my outdoor shower that is attached to the hose. This seems to be my answer. Thanks!!!!
Sweet! this would work great for an outdoor shower as the full port in the valve will allow the water to flow freely just like a shower in the house would. Good luck!
I'll join the chorus of praise: fantastic idea and implementation all-around: much better and cheaper than any valve out there! I've also used a FIP-FIP-FIP tee, MIP-MIP hex nipples, and doubled the rest of the components to get a full-flow splitter. Love it.
Thank you, I was realizing the same thing In Wye’s and 4 way garden hose splitters where I Was losing flow in my 3/4” garden hose loop due to the restricted valves. I was thinking of making my own pvc splitter and valves with pvc only, but your valves look less likely to leak. Looks good for coming out of my manifold as well.
Funny you should mention that! I am logging all my favorite tools and DIY builds into a custom catalog. If things take off ill look into distribution. I love the idea of having complete solutions for people of products that i truly believe in.
Hi George. I found the valve on Amazon, but cannot find the 3/4 to 3/4 fittings. All they have is 3/4 to 1/2! And I do probably 90% of my shopping on Amazon! I wish you had those on your website!
George, I have a big yard and only two water outlet faucets; therefore I have to use Y-Shutoff valves on both the outlets to fork into multiple lines. The Y Shutoff valves at the root of the faucet being narrow port to begin with how does this 3/4 inch full port valve would help in the down stream? Do you know of any full port Y shutoff valve that we could use at the faucet outlet? Got a couple really decent 3/4 inch full port valve made in Italy for $12.55 each from Home Depot (each complete set cost $21.95 before tax) but now thinking with my current setup is it going to help much?
If you buy store valves, look for high flow and large internal dia. Lile you demonstrated, the flow is totally different. Even my push fit 3/8 valves. If I use the cheap valve with small inner my pump is working so hard to push the water thru that restriction it draws over 10 amps. Using these valves keeps the restriction down so the pump isnt working hard anymore because the inner dia is the same as the tubing.
Excellent point jack, I was just watching obsessed garages pressure washer testing and he was testing different sized nozzle orfices and his amp readings were all over the place so I can imagine the same was for you
Hi George, got a couple questions, the valve has two female ends, 1) why do you need the male to female part to extend the valve's female end? 2) what would be the source to get the good quality (preferably Made in USA) valve and parts?
Hello Ataur the Reason you need the extra fitting is because the ball valve will not fit a garden hose without it as its a different type of threading(FHT VS. FIP) This heavy duty valve is meant for industrial water and gas lines. I bought these parts from the plumbing section of home depot, they are made in china but much much much better then any other garden hose valves you can get.
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Hello George, appreciate your prompt response and for explanation on the threading pattern, For some reason I have an allergic sense with the Chinese products as I have had some bitter experience with them. I am also a die-hard supporter of American made products and do not mind to pay double the price for them. I nurture the slogan - "Made in USA or not made at all". However; if there is no alternative then I have no choice and have to get one made on the other side of the ponds.
Trust me buddy I know how you feel. Your not the only one who got an “allergic reaction” I too much prefer America goods but unfortunately when it comes do these type of fittings they a far and few between made in America. My favorite top notch pressure washer and hose company MTM even makes thier fittings in China and they are a premium brand:(
Folks, I am giving my feedback on the assembled shutoff valve as George has prescribed in this post; it is a heck of a shutoff valve indeed, no doubt. I was about to order a couple high-end shutoff valves each costing over $25, I am glad I did not. This valve provides a hefty grip to hold onto when using the wand. I have only two concerns; the on/off handle is too tight to turn on/off, so people with arthritis should think before deciding to get this valve; have no idea if it would be more comfortable as it wears out. The second concern is if you have a narrow-opening shutoff valve upstream then I wonder if you get the full utilization of the full port feature of this valve. Regardless, this is a great valve.
I’m glad it’s working well for you ataur:) the handle is tight due to the quality of the ball valve ( will never leak on you) it will have a bit of give after some time. Your y connector will slightly prevent flow at the split but you will not notice it at the nozzle ( very minimal) only when the flow is reduced at the nozzle it becomes a problem
I just did the same thing... except I tried the quarter valve used in video and i too thought it a bit tight. I have used those before and i think they got some grease on the ball and once it washes out that shit is REALLY hard to turn. So i used a garden hose bib. Works great. Try it.
Wait.. If you're city's water pressure is 50psi, and you upgrade your shut off to a ¾ opening, you essentially just hooked up a fire hose where a garden hose should be, so you're not actually increasing flow rate. Especially since (I assume) you're hooking up a garden hose anyways... You're just changing the spot where the flow gets reduced and the pressure builds again.
Hi - now here is another thing you need to invent: a screw-shut valve that replaces the female coupling on end of a hose. It should have a screw end to replace the original but have a screw shutoff below that and right before it connects into the hose. Get it? I have a community garden so anything that screws onto a hose end gets stolen. The device we need is one that will replace the hose end coupling. find me on Facebook Arlie in Santa Rosa.
I doubt you will find ANY valves r fittings which contain lead for fresh water supply products. MAYBE for sewer and drain, where it will never matter anyway, lead doesn't leach out of fittings. Maybe you're thinking of old lead PIPE. Those may still be found in ancient homes.

Awesome idea!!!! Exactly what I'm looking for. Tired of walking back and forth to shut the faucet off and on while working in the lawn. THANK YOU!
Thanks mimi! i have since found a prebuilt one that is much lighter if you want to check it out, here it is amzn.to/3w6gE7t
Great idea, I’m tired of these cheap plastic store ones leaking and breaking. Heading to Lowes, Thanks for the tip.
For sure dude it makes all the difference, I just a quick reminder make sure you get a Full Port Valve, must be full port for maximum flow
Princess Cut Lawn Care ... Will do, thanks for the heads up.

Great idea. I had been using tiny version you showed but the little black handle kept breaking off. Off to HD after work now.
Cool tip George! Can't wait to see the parts available in your own lawncare store

This solves one of my problems. Thanks.
No problem!

Nice video.. question I moved into house, and hose shutoff valve is right in upper corner basement hard to access, the copper pipe is on a bend..
Could you use a Full Port Ball Valve as a replacement for your outdoor spigot (sillcock)?
Great build
Thanks!
I could not help to laugh when you said "look at that diameter",,,,,lol

lol dont make fun of me! this was like my 3rd video ever lol!
@@PrincessCutLawnCare 😂 you know I like you ... but seriously I have to make 2 at some point, got to many projects already going on.
I'm surprised they don't make these. Not everyone wants a high pressure sprayer but that's all that's on the market.
LOL I have that exact same problem with the cheapos...Going to have to make this unit...Thanks..
dude i can not with without this valve seriously lol

WHERE'S THE HOSE?? Wish you showed us how to connect what you built with the garden hose.
Thanks for sharing!
No problem Jeff, thanks for watching
@Princess Cut Lawn care - Have you built full port Garden hose splitter? Y Splitter kind of thing?
I have not, as I have an Eley Y splitter, the diameter is .55 in and is built very well. I recommend you take a look at it on their website
@@PrincessCutLawnCare .55 is small opening :) it will take out good work of using full ball valve

Look at the 3/4 Watts ball valve, some home depot if not online it can be found. They have different seals that make the ball turn like butter.

Please make sure you're using a lead free ball valve.
It’s not for potable water. It shouldn’t matter.
