After everything that’s been done the last decade it’s hard to have faith in anything coming out these days. I’ll wait to see a trailer or something to get a vibe. These is plenty that could be improved form the og, but they were still so good growing up. I would love to see a lot of the stuff left out from the books in the remake
@FantasyLegend-j3kteacher actors where the top, I do agree. But Harry potter becomes popular culture, someday they would have to remake it, thankfully this time will be with the creator involved herself, then we must not fear.
If they go into the detail that was missed from the films, such as including Peeves (RIP Rik Mayall), chasing gnomes out of the garden and everything else that was missing from the movies. Including that Harry was moved into Dudley's second bedroom and also for them to get the casting for James, Lily, Frank & Alice better, as in so they look like twenty-somethings not forty-year-olds in their images. Do not make this woke, keep it in the time is was written in and don't race swap characters, as remember this is a reflection of the UK city style school and not the US. Basically, hire me and I will help...
I have to say I love the books and I love the movies, but they're not perfect, so there is still a place to tell the story more detailed. I'm a little nervous if they'll do the TV series well, but I'm excited for it :) I hope they don't disappoint us.
I don't think it will necessarily be too modern, let's not forget that JK Rowling is conservative. I'm sure the tone of the show won't feel too modernized
Well as a American, I don't know how to feel about this when British people come over here and get jobs playing Americans all the time, and her books did not blow up because of the British Market... It was American Children that helped the Harry Potter Franchise become what it is today. IJS.
@@IgotYoBAC as a American I know that you don't know what tf you are talking about. Brits aren't flocking here pulling that bs. @@IgotYoBAC Americans have problems getting the British accent right. It’s much easier to act American than British. That show needs to be strictly British.

Amen; I remember seeing something on Chrome about them hiring Blake Underwood (a black guy) to play Albus Dumbledore. I don't want that, and I myself am black.
one word: School. Robes. (technically 2 but nevermind.) no running about in stupid muggle jeans and jumpers at school! it is school rules, after all - ordinary black school robes everyday, dress robes for ball. and yes, even for witches! no stupid muggle dresses. i think you can get away with thin translucent robe over dress, if you must. and not only school robes, generally, wizarding fashion. it has to be different from muggle fashion. ok, in public can be 'wizardly attempt at muggle clothing', like, i think funniest scene, where old wizard insisted on wearing nightgown, bc it is muggle, innit. or just simple lilac and lime green top hat, as mentioned in 1st book. and some exception, who was it, some minister of magic, who was very good at muggle fashion, that even Vernon Dursley might've approved.
Completely agree. I feel like the first two movies they had their robes but in all the other movies they were rockin muggle clothes. Did it take away from the story, overall? No. But it did take away from being completely immersed into the wizarding world.
I just want 3 things: - Characters and places must look like their description - Characters must act like they do in the books (no more dumb Ron, no more Mary Sue Hermoine etc.) - No cheap political inserts. The vibed are more important than the story. And I have no faith that even one of these wishes will be fulfilled.

@@SebasTian58323PJ was a Disney series, and Disney hadn't really had a great track record this past few years. HP will be done by HBO who have GOT/HOD under the belt.
I'm skeptical until I see what they put out for season 1, but it's good Rowling is involved. Rings of Power show runners were supposedly huge Tolkien fans and were "keeping to the source material" but all they did was write their own ridiculous fan fiction, just borrowing names and places fans would recognize, and completely mucking up the timing of events and lore after firing the Tolkien scholar who had been hired to keep things true to the materials.
But Remember this show is being made by HBO, who has Masterpiece like GOT/HOD under their belt, not the likes of Disney and Amazon who are only known for butchering existing franchises.
I hope the show stay true to the core of the story and the exact timeline of the books. It would be great to see Muggle world of the 90' Britain - clothes, technology, music and such (kind of what Stranger Things did with 80' USA). I'm not interested in GenZ Dudley.
I feel bad for the new actors already. Even if they play the characters very accurately, how are we to forget Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, Tom Felton, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Evanna Lynch, I could go on forever
Alan Rickman absolutely killed the role (in a good way), HOWEVER... his character was supposed to be early 30s and Rickman was much older than that. If i had to pick an actor to cast as Snape based on physical appearance, age and tone of voice, it would be Adam Driver. Yeah hes 40, but he can easily pass for a 30(ish) year old
2:18 My first thought: Rowling also gave "green light" to the authors of the cursed child, which contradicts quite a few things in her original series. Since then her approval has lost any kind of meaning to me. This was just one of many instances which led me to believe that Rowling doesn't know her own original written work very well anymore. Sadly.
Well we have many moments that was cut away from the books. So it would have been exited to see more. And I loved the hogwarts legacy story so why not try some new stuff. We need to take chances.
Hopefully, none of the characters will be miscast. My personal choice for an actor to play Dumbledore would be Gary Oldman. He's old enough to be aged up with makeup to look like a very old man, but young enough to still be around when the series wraps up. He's got the acting chops to nail the role, too. I'm also hoping for more detail and accurate descriptions of the books, especially the climactic battle for Hogwarts and the bit about Hogwarts' House Elves.
Also there is one serious question. Who will able to reach the highs set by John Williams who created the wonderful music in the first 3 HP movies? The music of HP is something that I listen to every day and I am not sure who will be able to do as good of a job as JW.
John Williams did a great job and that will never be replaced. However, there are other equally talented artists with successful musical records. My first choice, if not the return of Johan Williams, would be Howard Shore. If Howard is not on the table, I would love to see Two Steps From Hell get an opportunity to do some amazing work here. For those less aware, TSFH is a orchestra most renowned for trailer music. I highly doubt they would be involved in this just because I have yet to hear of them commiting to long term contracts for any shows or movies. One day... I can keep hoping one day they do. Anyway, artists include: Alexandre Desplat, Danny ElfmanRamin Djawadi (Game of Throne/House of the Dragon, Westworld) or Hildur Guðnadóttirm (Chernobyl) who has also worked on big films like Joker, Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino.
Ludwig Göransson is doing some great work! Wouldn’t mind if he took over. If not him, there are many who could take Williams’ themes and run. James Newton Howard composed for Fantastic Beasts. There’s a lot wrong with those movies but the first one is really good, in my opinion, including the music.
You do realize that the entire Potter series is political right? Voldemort is magic hitler, house elves are slaves, racism between "purebloods" and everyone else. It is ALL politics my dude. Remove the politics and there is no franchise.
@@shanerasmussen5225 Not really. The series is a mystery series with some action sprinkled in. And the OP is saying no *_modern_* politics. The politics of the series is really a tiny little part. And Voldemort is really more like Stalin or Lenin than Hitler.
Hmm.... I'll remain skeptic until the casts starts rolling... then, we'll see.... Because, you can have great directors, but the cast is just as important... so... we'll see~
@@1breakerbox844 great director doesn’t necessarily mean good show or movie. Chris Columbus directed Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets, brilliant adaptations. But so many people hated his version of the Percy Jackson movies
I love the idea of a show that can address all that was left out of the movies. I have to say that I would get really upset with the things that were not included in the movies. So much of the story was missed. Now everything can be included.
The key to getting a casting that will be widely accepted and beloved by us classic-era fans who grew up with the books and films is for them to be book-accurate down to the micro detail. For example, Harry and Lily should have GREEN Eyes. Lily, James, Sirius, Remus, Severus, Peter, and others should be age-accurate as can be reasonably expected from a supposedly book-accurate adaptation.
I personally don't need everyone's hair and eye color to be 100% accurate if the actor's performance is otherwise true to the character. I really enjoyed the performances by the actors in the Percy Jackson show, even though none of the main 3 actors would be considered "book accurate" in appearance. Considering Harry's resemblance to his parents is mentioned multiple times, they should definitely try to find two people to play his parents who resemble the actor playing him in the correct ways (though Lily's eye color can be achieved with contacts or something), but otherwise, I don't think Harry and Lily need to specifically have green eyes.
@@hallowwolf3599 Hmmm 🤔 interesting, but by that logic, if they don't cast people with green eyes, they could use contacts for one or both, given how many times it's brought up. Still, I agree as long as they look similar, I think they could pass. My biggest thing with the movies is more to do with the age of Harry’s Parents and their Generation. That is the main thing I would like to see corrected. Don’t get it twisted: Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, and the others are/were fanominal actors and definitely deserved a part, but it was still hard to deal with reconciling most of them as being in their 20s/30s. I can give a bit of leeway with Remus due to his condition and Sirius spending over a decade in prison, but there is no excuse for James, Lily, or Severus. Peter, I think this is a weird one, as it is hard to know how staying in one’s animal form for extended periods of time would affect the human form.
@@joshuahallett6235my excuse for them looking much older than they are supposed to be is that they have been aged prematurely because of the effects of the first wizarding war haha
@@JeanDeLaCroix_ i get that, but its not just cutting out stuff. For example, in the final battle they didnt have to make voldemort fly into a million pieces to save time. It would have actually saved time and money to just have him drop dead like he did in the books. Theres so many changes that were unnessecary that didnt just happen becausr they had to save time
I hope they take their time telling the story. What I hate most about newer series is that they feel too short, and I rarely become invested in the characters. I'm looking forward to watching it, but I hope they don't do what happened to Avatar the Last Airbender.
To those saying it should be modernized so today's younger audience can relate: Stranger Things did just fine with them and it's based in the 80s. Let's leave HP in the 90s where its from so we can enjoy the nostalgia, there's enough modern setting shows.
Gen Alpha doesn’t have the attention span to watch anything over 8 seconds in length. So older generation (millennials, yep that’s gonna be you now.) will have to watch
Muggles hear me nigh! If in the first season, they get how Norbert was actually sent off, and the whole challenges like potions and whatnot when getting the sorcerer's stone, then we get rest easy that the show might be faithful in the long run
I was certainly happy to not see Peeves in the movies cuz i felt like he didnt belong in the books either. Like... he is borderline attempting murder at some parts or potentially injuring students. It feels like his character shouldnt exist because a headmaster wouldve thrown him out to protect students centuries ago.
The chapters are all fairly short, especially in the first few books, so they may have no choice but to combine multiple chapters together to fill the runtime depending on how long each episode is. This would be especially true if each episode were an hour long.
If each episode was equivalent to one chapter in the book (and each book would be one season) then the show would be probably be even more detailed than the books themselves, since especially for the early books, chapters were fairly short.
the only problem with this is that it seems like they rarely, if ever, give shows longer seasons later on (if anything, they tend to shorten seasons the longer a show keeps going). So I am wondering if the later books will still wind up more truncated because they adapt both Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone and Order of the Phoenix with say 10 episodes, when OOTP should probably get at least 16 episodes to keep the same pacing. Numbers are purely just for examples, I have no idea what number of episodes HBO plans to use for the first season, and I'm also not wanting to start a debate on the best number of episodes for each book. Just that because of the varying book length, they would need to have more episodes later on for a consistent series (particularly with regard to how "faithful" the adaptation is), but with the way TV shows are made, I'm a little skeptical they will do that. Unless they decide to split the later books into 2 seasons each, but that would have it's own problems, too.
I don't want to see Ginny Weasley squatting down and tying Harry's shoe. Book Ginny was not subservient. If it wasn't in the book, I don't want to see it in the film.
My only concern is that they're gonna rewrite portions of it and recast characters "for a modern audience". It feels like every single piece of entertainment these days gets this treatment and it NEVER ends well for the story or audience reception. Just give us EXACTLY what was described in the books and leave the modern politics out this or you wont have an audience watching this

I think that the movies were so beautiful because they were filming on locations and didn’t use that much special effects. I hope that the TV series should do something similar. I don’t like to much special effects . 🤔
I agree and disagree. The on location shots were great, and the Great Hall used real stone floors so it also looked fantastic throughout the production. But I thought the Hogwarts Legacy game layout for Hogwarts was a brilliant synthesis of those sets. Something I'd like to see retained and expanded upon for the television show. Mostly as I do not trust the television production to have the time to reinvent the Hogwarts layout in any fashion superior to what the game developers managed. Otherwise I anticipate something similar to the cinematic portrayal wherein the sets themselves were fantastic, but there was very little sense of how the castle was internally connected beyond those sets.
There was no reason to remake this anyways. There's no way it will top it and even if it does there was no reason to. They could've started some new content like before Harry Potter times or after or a rise of voldemort show. Literally anything but a remake
I would love a show about the founders of Hogwarts, then also including the founding of the other schools like Ilvermorny, Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, etc... get real feel for how each of the school was founded
I'm so glad that JK Rowling is going have a huge part within the series, I mean, we wouldn't have it any other way, right? Now, we have the comfort of knowing that she's going to be side-by-side the writers and directors. This means that everything is going to be canon for the most part and that the liberties will not be taken lightly or completely out of context. I also feel JK Rowling can and will insert additional backstory and context for all characters. She is quite literally the creator of this universe she knows more about them than anyone else could ever fathom. I have complete faith that all will work out. I do say that the most difficult part will be casting and the retention of said actors.
Yeah, a lot of adaptations these days unfortunately can't have the original author to keep it accurate since they're dead (AMC's Interview with the Vampire and RoP being great examples), and it turns out horribly altered. Unfortunately certain people are going to kick and scream for the next few years, and harass the people involved in the production simply because they don't like Rowling.
Yes, because JKR is on that team (and I can't imagine her allowing her story to be remade without her anyway - she's always kept excellent control of her franchise), I think we can have pretty good faith that the canon will be faithfully reproduced. I hope the series might expand on the official canon, actually - with JKR's blessing and control.
@@fransmith3255 JKR will also have a say in the casting. She supported the castings of Alan Rickman and Robbie Coltrane, so that track record is quite heartening.
1) I hope they stick to the timeline of a series relative to the book and the school year. 2) I hope they use the time to factor as much book detail as possible into the series. 3) for the purposes of versatility, I would prefer an animated series. 4) it will be cool if they factored in some of the best theories provided by the enthusiasts over the years.
Honestly. They should have made a brand new show or revisit the past before Harry. But it is what it is. Hollywood is afraid of risks now. Hopefully it’s good.
It must be done as it is in the books. No modenization, no modern politics thrown in, blah blah blah. Another concern I have with a ten year television show is are the actors from season one going to continuously reprise their role every season? I'm not interested in re-investing my time into the characters if they keep swapping actors & if we take Stranger Things into consideration, you may only get a good 3 seasons before they start to drastically age & you'll need bigger & bigger time jumps. Also, I wanna see Professor Binns & that whole ghostly Deathday party
The original movies were also released in a ten years timeline, so idk what problem you see here. Harry, Ron and Draco were already twelve in the first movie, it doesn’t make them look too old for their characters in the last one.
Have you even watched the films or read the books? Harry Potter is full of politics already. Voldemort’s hatred of mudblods is an obvious allegory for white supremacy. Voldemort and his Death Eaters are basically Nazis. House elves are slaves, goblins are an oppressed minority. The conflict between the Malfoys and Weasleys represents the differences between the upper and lower classes.
@@reneepope-munro8115 You're exaggeratin really hard. Yes there is some. Mostly about media propaganda, but nowhere close to what it is these days from Hollywood and Disnney.
Something that was only commented on here once, but which I think is a big part of how the new series would be received: how many of the current fan base has ( or can access) HBO? In my case, I would be interested in watching the show but find it hard to justify adding another fee to my already expensive cable bill just for one show. No matter how fantastic that show might end up being. Will there be other options for that situation......or for people who can't get HBO at all because of their location or etc.? I hope that's something they consider as well....
I'm hoping to see the full chess scene from Book 1 as a chess fan:) The real life inspiration was truly a beautiful game and the movie did NOT do it justice at all. You could barely see what was going on
I hope they stay with book accurate characters, I am honestly sick about the whole things they do with genders and races. When I read the books and watched the movies, cast and students were from all kind of walks. No reason to force the characters to be different nationality. I probably get a lot of hate for this, but the movies industries are just going the wrong way.
Snape already is fairly book accurate, what more “Iconic” can you get ? And even if not that, have you considered the games? Is he not more “book accurate” there?
@@SuperMoviemaster21 I haven’t played the games but movie Snape is not even close to his book counterpart. Alan’s Snape is dramatic, sarcastic and stoic. I loved his portrayal, but book Snape is an emotional mess who spits on the ground, swears & goes unhinged. He’s like a bubbling cauldron ready to blow up. They also removed many of his heroic moments from Prince’s Tale in favour of portraying a Lily & Snape story. He’s also more nasty, brave and just more everything. The Spinner’s End chapter I mentioned is pure masterpiece and arguably one of the best chapters in the series. It gives us a totally different side of Snape where he is in complete control and showcases his mastery in fooling as a spy. He basically plays Bellatrix like a fidel, turning all her words against her.

@@ackerose But that’s the whole point of life, you’re supposed to be fighting for what you need, and not letting yourself be spoiled or overdone by it, and with that it also means preventing what you don’t “need” because if you indeed get it, it will indeed spoil and or ruin something about you and your life whether directly connected/related to or not no matter what no matter how otherwise it may seem
I cannot see how they can recreate the excellence of the books and movies. Especially in todays environment. Personally, I think their efforts would be better used creating a sequel of the existing characters and their children, even using the original main actors.
I agree with you but I think it’s unlikely that all the „important“ original main characters/actors would join. I especially think that Daniel Radcliffe would not join. He worked so hard to get away from him „being Harry Potter“.

I read the books in grade school and followed along with the films and was definitely one to be swept up into the Potter hype when it was big. I even make a habit to watch all the film adaptations at least once a year. I even thought they did well with Fantastic Beasts barring the controversy with Depp. In my opinion I believe they did well with what they had for the time and the films I believe could stand alone as good pieces of cinema. They have patterns and story elements which go well with the young mystery novel genre they're based on. Were they to remake the series, I do not doubt it will bring controversy whether they actually do pull it off, nigh on failure at the low end. But I don't doubt there are good directors out there, however Potterheads are much like LOTR and Starwars fans, very serious. They even bite the creator sometimes for posthumously changing any detail of the work. I really don't think successful media needs a remake, especially when that's all the industry is these days, "safe remakes of popular franchises." Truly they should take a look at all the critical failures of the stories and IPs that have flopped in recent years. The public craves new and exciting things, I believe in the case for the Wizarding World, fantastic beasts was a good solid direction to start. Keep the IP but tell stories that haven't been told in interesting ways. Someone in the comments here talked about the four Founders of Hogwarts and I think that's an awesome idea they could take and run with, or talk about Ginny and Harry's son and his story, or even the first war with Voldemort as a suspense drama or something. Regardless, thank you for your videos and I hope you're well!
A spin-off series would be cool, but after ‘Fantastic Beasts’ I think they’re terrified to make a new story. But we do not need a remake, it’ll be forever compared to the original movies.
Did I hear they plan a 10-year show for a 7-year school that only had 7 years covered in 7 books?? What are they going to do? 3 years post-hogwarts careers for Harry and crew?
If you think about it, the movies were just a remake of a series of books. So we’ve already had the remake era (and it was obviously wildly successful). They aren’t writing a new book to tell the same story, or making a new movie to tell the same story. They’re launching a show. It’s its own thing. I don’t hate the idea like all the Disney remakes, because there’s so much opportunity here to add in more details they couldn’t the first time. Won’t know until we watch it but I’m excited.
What I hope they do is make it more book accurate unlike the movies which was cut down and the characters were ruined (such as with Ron) but knowing how remakes have been recently, we can’t get our hopes up.
i am looking forward to this, the only concern i have is the time between seasons of the show, with the track record of 2 years between seasons, and at the rate kids grow up, i fear we might end up with 40 year old, 17 year olds
Hopefully they keep it in the nineties, since I feel a modern setting would add a big problem to wizard secrecy: mobile phones. Good luck flying around in your car without anyone snapping a pic of that.
Here's hoping they stay true to the books. If they do anything other than what's in the books then they need to add this to the title "Based on the books of Harry Potter" because they won't be the actual plots of Harry Potter. And it will be difficult to watch the new cast since we've been watching the old cast for so long.
5:55 When a writer misplaces an apostrophe, twice. Little hope for the end product. I do wonder exactly HOW calmly Dumbledore will ask Harry Potter about putting his name in the goblet.
That's the thing, this story has become a phenonemom, iconic, classic ht that has helped change people and left behind a huge legacy. There is going to a lot of pressure and stress on anyone who does this, cast and crew. It will be a rough ride, since many actors are irreplaceable. I am surprised on the whole thing and it is a risky move. I am surprised this is going on, since the films get shown every three months or so. I don;t think there is any need to reboot it or do a series. The last one ended 17 years ago, it is a bit too soon for my opinion.
I do feel like oversaturation is a risk look at Star Trek, Star Wars and Marvel. These franchise have may series running at the same time and many new ones coming out. That makes matters worst these seasons are short. Example why do we need three live action star trek shows running at the same time with low episode counts that don't allow the series to explore the characters and story in the same way as the old series did when you can take that time and money and make one series build the characters and story better over time.
I agree. I hope the MCU turns around now that they are focusing on quality again. Unfortunately Star Wars is mostly a dumpster fire at this point, but I am looking forward to Andor season 2. Hoping this new Potter series is good. I think its risky and would prefer a new story in the wizarding world.
It give's the oppatunty in a season to include almost all of the book that a standard film can't and include background stories that will be good for the nerds. The sad reality is that there has been few films that have been better than the oridginal film but with HBO and the game of thrones style means that although it will be hard to see a new cast, ther is now the oppatunity for the story of the magical world to branch out into new storys once the first books are done with.
I am waiting to see if they will cast a lore accurate Hermione or a Cursed child Hermione, This will be my litmus test about if they are taking the books seriously
Exactly. I would have loved a black Hermione if that was her plan, but... I've seen JK's old artwork, merch, and such that depicted her as a pale skinned white girl. The fact that she thought Emma Watson was perfect for the role and has stated that she wrote Hermione with HERSELF in mind tells all. I was already put off CC because of how much things were changed to make it fit, I've locked it behind "poor fanfic" in my mind. I'm praying with every fiber that they want to actually make this proper. And no more talk of American actors, this isn't Ilvermorny, it's a story about a British kid going to a Scottish private school. 😅
This is an opportunity to make a great show with episodes being themed like ep 1 the durselys, ep 2 diagonal alley ep 3 welcome to Hogwarts and the sorting. My fears that it will be political or preachy and it will be very hard topping the casting from the movies as many of the characters were portrayed by some of the best British thespian’s.
I feel fairly certain it will stay true to the books, I feel really good about this. WB and Universal have seen what Disney has done to themselves in the past 5 years. It's evident in the Theme Parks these media giants have, it's evident in the content they produce.. Universal has been loyal to their fans FAR more than Disney has. I think we'll continue to see that trend.
Especially for TV adaptations, you already have the script, it called the book. The only thing you have to figure out is how much each episode will cover and how many seasons it will take to get through a year/book.
I hope they do the following: 1. Make sure the right person says the right line (not give all Ron's funny or intelligent lines to others to dumb him down) 2. Keep the flashback and Gaunt scenes in the Dealthy Hallows (my favourite book, but they left much of this out, like when Voldemort returned to Hogwarts to ask for a job looking like a shadow of his former handsome self) 3. Show a real life scene of the Peverell brothers and how they founded the deathly hallows (unlike an animated scene as per the movies) 4. Stay true to the source material and keep modern politics and social issues out 5. Hire actors that look like how they're portrayed in the books 6. Include more context into the first season or where ever it fits (like the scenes of Voldemort killing Harry in Godric's Hollow or Kreacher helping Regulus find and take the locket in the cave)
The main think i want is to keep the 80s/90s vibe the original books and movies had, i don't want it to be a modern adaptation where the kids have smartphones, laptops, modern slang ect. that will completely throw me out of the harry potter experience (even though it would introduce a higher contrast between the muggle and wizarding world)
With a rebooted adaptation to the Harry Potter series. This means that the core storyline will be reconned and altered to fit today's standards for storytelling in a TV series. This unfortunately means there will be two different continuities if this series is the HP storyline. I want to say im optimistic but not much.
He played Voldemort too excitable. Voldemort/Tom Riddle is more of a cold calculating character. While Ralph had his moments he was too much during the moments it counted like battling.
Personally I would prefer either a series focused on the Marauders or on James, Albus, Lily (Harry and Ginny), Rose, Hugo (Ron and Hermione), Scorpius (Draco and Astoria) and also on Teddy Lupin as well since we get nothing about him in the films. I'm not convinced redoing the books into a TV series is going to work, even if it does give more room for them to add more content that the films couldn't.
Three visual things they MUST change from the films are: All spells have a visual effect in the books and NOT invisible as in the later movies and this should be followed. Apparition dors NOT look like the vaperous flying as shown in the films. It is quite literally instantaneuos teleportation. Lastly, dont make everything so damned dark! Colours are your friend! Every movie after COS was so dark that it was difficult to see what was going on. Dont do that again!
The books and movies can feel dated? Oh God. I truly hope the creators don't think that way. Because if they do they're going to move the setting from the '80s and '90s to the current day, aren't they? I can see it already. Characters whipping out smartphones and other smart tech in the muggle society and the kids speaking current kids' slang which can be absolutely cringey. If that is what they will offer us I won't watch this even for free. You would have to pay me to watch it.
Yep. the child casting is gonna be Gen Alpha. The iPad kids from birth. I have no idea how they are gonna keep them engaged without a smart device in their hands 24/7.
People need to understand that this TV show is not gonna have the same feeling as the movies because by the time it comes out, the first movie will be almost 25 years old. And we will also be almost 25 years older. It doesn't mean the show will be bad, just not the same feeling.
I wish they made a series about the different wizarding schools. They could have a magic championship with teams from each school competing against each other, something like the Hunger Games (without the premise being killing each other) or Chunin Exams. It would be so cool to see different kinds of powerful magic being used.
yess! and also, what about home-schooled witches and wizards in countries without magic schools or just not willing to send children there? like, i think my nearest school would be Durmstrang but going there might not be an option.
All I know is if they don’t do cast like characters in the books and stick to the nature of the books with no woke stuff to stuff up this, otherwise forget it….
The beauty of the series is that each encompasses a year. So it would be easy to match each season to a book. While the first three books are not as large as the last four, JK has had a long time to fill in details and back stories that she wasn't able to put into the first books. Remember when she was trying to get Philosopher's Stone publish she was an unknown! Getting a publisher to bite on a short children's book would have been much easier than trying to get them to commit on a thousand page novel.
@Pepperrelish for sure. I've never minded that at all. It's always made sense to me, as the stories grow with the kids and the audience. Just curious how the seasons will even out. I think she'll end up giving lots of background and detail that she couldn't in the first few books. That could be very cool if done well.
There's a couple things I feel they could do that might help win over a lot of older Potterheads. The first is using a lot of the same filming locations as the movies and second is keeping some of the more ironic clothing designs. So for example make sure Hogwarts looks the same as it did in the movies and bring back the original robe designs as well. This might help prevent any immersion breaking for us older Potterheads and at the same time with our modern technology it will still feel new enough for the younger ones and any new ones that might come along.
When this show first airs, there will definitely be some pushback simply due to the new faces. We've all come to love the original actors, and even though some have made personal choices that have alienated themselves from JKR, it will still be a difficult adjustment. I'm just thankful that Ms. Rowlings isn't a BOZO like Bezos, and she hired talent that actually HAS talent to helm her show. I'm still nervous, for, like the OP, Harry Potter has been a huge part of my life, and I would hate to see it tarnished. If it really does take ten years for this series to finish, I most likely won't be around to see the end, but one can hope.
I'm more concerned about critics and some audiences going after the show because of JKR and the silly trans controversy. Thumbs crossed the show get positive reviews
I think its cool that Harry Potter is going to be a TV show, but one thing I would like for the show is that we can be able to watch it on at least one other platform besides HBO max, because there are some fans who can not afford HBO max and so those fans can not see it.
And it's times like that when Bflix and the like are helpful. I definitely can't afford HBO, but I'm hoping that the show will bring justice that the books needed from the movies.
@EtaryaFae I agree with your statement. The movies were great, but it is time for us to see more of the world of Harry Potter that we were not able to see in the movies, because was a lot of things in the books that we were able see in the original films.
@@DanielDittmer-superman1938 Exactly! The books are written through Harry's eyes and though I love the boy... there is a dang good reason he's not a Ravenclaw! He's as daft as a doorknob and oblivious to most things around him. With a series we should be able to pick up on other things and get a better view of the world around him. I better be bawling my eyes out because of a bubble gum wrapper in St. Mungo's as well (Neville's scene is one of my favorite little one offs that really show a glimpse at people other than the main trio)! I would also love maybe specials or extra shows about Ilvermorny, Durmstrang, and Uagadu (sp?) because there is SO much potential there. We know so little about America's school, and the most we know about Uagadu is from Legacy.
@EtaryaFae one thing I would like to see Hagrid face off with those people where he goes full beast mode and see McGonagall at full power. One thing I would like to know is, does Hagrid have any children, for he was drunk half of the time so he could have met a nice girl and knocked boots together, and so I would like to know if he had kids did some of them go to hogwarts, or helped Hagrid at hogwarts, that is the big question I have!?
@@DanielDittmer-superman1938 Oh God, all I can think is Minerva hit with all of those stunners 😭 and imagine unhinged Harry using Crucio like in the books because she was spit on. Definitely would like to see Hagrid's family in general- he did go after his mother's family after all, with her being a giantess!
they have so much stuff they can do with the Harry Potter universe, i still don't get why they have to make this series. everyone wants to see the something involving the Marauders, why don't they do that? they can also do something on the Hogwarts founders, any pureblood family like the Gaunts history maybe, an Ilvermorny, Durmstrang or Beauxbatons series with some new carachters, a Hogwarts Legacy one etc. these are just some examples that i think many would love. i think if they keep ruining the HP universe, us fans are not gonna get more content in the future because no one is going to invest in it. i know people don't like Fantastic Beasts (i love it lol) and if they do bad thing after bad thing maybe it's going to end up in no one expanding the wizarding world...
Nope. After thec Cursed Child project and Rowling saying that it should be thought of as canon, her being involved and her approval of the people in this project is not assuring me of its faithfulness or quality at all. Quite the contrary, actually. She lost touch with her own creation and probably never even read her own books, between finishing the series and launching Pottermore. Even though it had been so very many years since she'd worked on the story and universe. Seriously. From Pottermore to this day she seems to have been operating based on her old notes and plans instead of bothering to read her own books in order to base new content on what she actually established in the final product that are the books. Plus, after they cast a black woman as Hermione for the Cursed Child Rowling supported it to the degree of claiming the character could have been black in the books and implying that she really was meant as dark skinned. When so clearly she wrote Hermione as a white girl in the books. I have nothing against black Hermione or Rowling supporting such casting, but I don't appreciate her dishonesty and retconning when it comes to her characters and universe. I will take a look at the tv series if I happen to have active Max subscription for some other show or movie. I won't pay specifically for this tv series. If Rowling is involved it won't be faithful to her books. That's crazy but history has proven it to be the case.

After everything that’s been done the last decade it’s hard to have faith in anything coming out these days. I’ll wait to see a trailer or something to get a vibe. These is plenty that could be improved form the og, but they were still so good growing up. I would love to see a lot of the stuff left out from the books in the remake

It will most likely be Trash like the Witcher Series,....
Do not make this woke, keep it in the time is was written in and don't race swap characters, as remember this is a reflection of the UK city style school and not the US. one word: School. Robes. Yeah, but since some of them have passed away, and others have outgrown their roles, they'd need to recast them, anyway.
Besides some of them have made themselves forgettable because of their attitude. You left out Richard Harris, Helen McCrory and Jason Issacs.
Alan Rickman absolutely killed the role (in a good way), HOWEVER... his character was supposed to be early 30s and Rickman was much older than that.
And he actually has blue eyes like Albus, too.
He would be amazing as Dumbledore!
@@Linda-qp9kp He's a fine actor. Jude Law could be aged up, too.
Also there is one serious question. Who will able to reach the highs set by John Williams who created the wonderful music in the first 3 HP movies? The music of HP is something that I listen to every day and I am not sure who will be able to do as good of a job as JW.
It would certainly be a tall order trying to step up to JW!
Why not just use Williams' musical themes?
Yeah. The music is a whole character in the films.

I think it needs to be slow-paced maybe make one chapter an episode and the casting has to be spot-on
The chapters are all fairly short, especially in the first few books, so they may have no choice but to combine multiple chapters together to fill the runtime depending on how long each episode is. This would be especially true if each episode were an hour long.
If each episode was equivalent to one chapter in the book (and each book would be one season) then the show would be probably be even more detailed than the books themselves, since especially for the early books, chapters were fairly short.
There would be literally over 100 episodes then lol
@@shades4313 198 to be exact, if they don't add any filler to expand the series.
the only problem with this is that it seems like they rarely, if ever, give shows longer seasons later on (if anything, they tend to shorten seasons the longer a show keeps going).

Knowing the recent years rubbish remakes and sequels, it's hard to believe they'll nail it
There was no reason to remake this anyways. There's no way it will top it and even if it does there was no reason to. They could've started some new content like before Harry Potter times or after or a rise of voldemort show. Literally anything but a remake
@@TheShreddingShark I know right 🕯️
I would love a show about the founders of Hogwarts, then also including the founding of the other schools like Ilvermorny, Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, etc... get real feel for how each of the school was founded

That won't happen. Movie studios are a little different in Britain - they tend not to behave with the stupidity of American companies...

@@octapusxft I didn't say no controversies. I said not quite as stupid as American companies. And Dr Who had a very long go of many seasons.

Duh
@@НикаК-ъ4ф I highlighted what went wrong with Stranger Things.
Hope they focus on Story and not Politics like a lot of people do these days.
I dont think rowling will let that happen . But i hope aswell
The books are DRIPPING with politics, y god, have any of you people even read these books?

Something that was only commented on here once, but which I think is a big part of how the new series would be received: how many of the current fan base has ( or can access) HBO?
In my case, I would be interested in watching the show but find it hard to justify adding another fee to my already expensive cable bill just for one show. No matter how fantastic that show might end up being. Will there be other options for that situation......or for people who can't get HBO at all because of their location or etc.?
I hope that's something they consider as well....
Yes. I have no interest in adding another streaming service. Especially the useless HBO.
Those without HBO might have to wait a while, but the DVDs will eventually show up at their local libraries just like the movies did.
I hope they will give us book accurate Snape. Spinner’s End chapter would be so iconic if we get it!!
@@ackerose But does it really matter if he’s that book accurate? Do you really NEED A visual book accuracy Snape or anything else for that matter when we already have the books themselves not to mention that they are illustrated among many other versions of the story we already have? It taking away the whole reason for actually having the books in the first place…… ?
@@SuperMoviemaster21 Idk dude, since they are planning on making the series it’s just something I would indeed like to see because he’s my fave. Great characters are always a treat. But where did I even say that I “need” it? If we get it, we get it. I think you are making a big deal out of an opinion.
I only wanna know thing. Are they faithfully sticking to the books, or are they incorporating the Twitter retcons?
I cannot see how they can recreate the excellence of the books and movies. Especially in todays environment. Personally, I think their efforts would be better used creating a sequel of the existing characters and their children, even using the original main actors.
I agree with you but I think it’s unlikely that all the „important“ original main characters/actors would join. I especially think that Daniel Radcliffe would not join. He worked so hard to get away from him „being Harry Potter“.
MARAUDERS
@@yunabrooks Not to mention Dan is pretty much no contact with Rowling these days.
That just means a Cursed Child adaptation. I'll pass.
Exactly! Like what are they achieving even if they do top the movies? Which i doubt they will. The origins or even after Harry Potter or a rise voldemort would be way better
If I see a black Hermione I will end it all.

JK Rowling was absolutely fine with that in Cursed Child
Me too
@@reneepope-munro8115 Fine? - She was a producer on that too.
@@huginnmuninn2155 my point is that OP is being gross (and likely racist) over something we’ve already seen/was endorsed by the author.
I think the only recast I surely will have a problem with is Snape/Rickman, he was just perfect in the role. His line delivery was epic.
He was, though I'd be happy to see someone who fit a bit closer to the books- Snape was 31 in the first book! RIP Alan, he was such a great actor.
Maybe they planned pauses in between the seasons and included it in the time frame
They are splitting the latter books into multiple season because they are much longer.
Do not need a redo. It will never live up to the original. I would be open to side stories. Such as, goblin tales or tales of the Black Lake.
i am looking forward to this, the only concern i have is the time between seasons of the show, with the track record of 2 years between seasons, and at the rate kids grow up, i fear we might end up with 40 year old, 17 year olds
They promise 7 seasons in 10 years. The same time span the original movies had. So no reasons to worry, I guess.
Hopefully they keep it in the nineties, since I feel a modern setting would add a big problem to wizard secrecy: mobile phones. Good luck flying around in your car without anyone snapping a pic of that.
I will pray 🙏 for these new kids and the actors for years to come
Here's hoping they stay true to the books.
No modern spin ... Just no...
I can’t wait for them to cast a black Hermione for diversity and have Harry and Ron openly mock her for being against slavery of the house elves
How do you get auditions?
It give's the oppatunty in a season to include almost all of the book that a standard film can't and include background stories that will be good for the nerds. The sad reality is that there has been few films that have been better than the oridginal film but with HBO and the game of thrones style means that although it will be hard to see a new cast, ther is now the oppatunity for the story of the magical world to branch out into new storys once the first books are done with.
How to feel old, the first book was released more than 27 years ago!!
The big question is which seasons and episodes did he direct for? if it's the early ones good, if its the later ones though.....
I am waiting to see if they will cast a lore accurate Hermione or a Cursed child Hermione,
This will be my litmus test about if they are taking the books seriously
@@EtaryaFae Exactly my thoughts as well. Thankfully her falling out with the "modernizers" will make her stick to her canon.
The first wizarding war and voldemort's rise to power would be so good
This is an opportunity to make a great show with episodes being themed like ep 1 the durselys, ep 2 diagonal alley ep 3 welcome to Hogwarts and the sorting.
They're all owned by the same holding companies that force this dei nonsense on everyone. Completely ruined hollywood in just a few years.
Personally, I have no confidence whatsoever that current filmmaking “talent” has any chance of making a decent Harry Potter product.
Yep, totally agree.
Especially for TV adaptations, you already have the script, it called the book. The only thing you have to figure out is how much each episode will cover and how many seasons it will take to get through a year/book.
Wheel of Time fans are screaming, "Be careful of those who say they're fans and want to make these shows." We got Rafe Judkins
Same case with Tolkien fans and ROP or Witcher fans and NF's disaster.
I hope they do the following:
1. Make sure the right person says the right line (not give all Ron's funny or intelligent lines to others to dumb him down)
2. Keep the flashback and Gaunt scenes in the Dealthy Hallows (my favourite book, but they left much of this out, like when Voldemort returned to Hogwarts to ask for a job looking like a shadow of his former handsome self)
3. Show a real life scene of the Peverell brothers and how they founded the deathly hallows (unlike an animated scene as per the movies)
4. Stay true to the source material and keep modern politics and social issues out
5. Hire actors that look like how they're portrayed in the books
I really hope they at least decide to bring Ralph Fiennes back. Not only is he still extremely able, he's also willing to return as Voldemort.
He played Voldemort too excitable. Voldemort/Tom Riddle is more of a cold calculating character. While Ralph had his moments he was too much during the moments it counted like battling.
@@IWroteSomeThingstrue, I call him Goofy Voldemort lol, especially that cringe ass laugh.
I think the cast and music are the most important things to get right
Are we finally going to see the things the movies left out? If not, I don't want it.
That's a guarantee. With one book being covered by 10-13 episodes (45-60 minutes each), plenty originally skipped material will be added.
I would like a series about the founders
I am so down with this, having recently read through the three first books of MinaLima's versions Im stoked about this 😁
Three visual things they MUST change from the films are: All spells have a visual effect in the books and NOT invisible as in the later movies and this should be followed.
Without the deaths? They wouldn't have to try for that without achieving that. 😁
All I know is if they don’t do cast like characters in the books and stick to the nature of the books with no woke stuff to stuff up this, otherwise forget it….
I'm curious how they'll break up the books. The first three books are so much shorter than the last four.
As hyped as i am about this imma be devastated if they mess it up because it won't be attempted again for a long time =/
I'm more concerned about critics and some audiences going after the show because of JKR and the silly trans controversy.
Thumbs crossed the show get positive reviews
good luck cancelling JK
Look at hogwarts legacy. They tried to cancel that and it was one of the highest selling games in history!
I better be bawling my eyes out because of a bubble gum wrapper in St. Mungo's as well (Neville's scene is one of my favorite little one offs that really show a glimpse at people other than the main trio)! harry potter does not need a remake
Except that this isn't a "remake", fool. There is literally nothing to "remake". This is an ADAPTATION. Completely different.
they have so much stuff they can do with the Harry Potter universe, i still don't get why they have to make this series. everyone wants to see the something involving the Marauders, why don't they do that? they can also do something on the Hogwarts founders, any pureblood family like the Gaunts history maybe, an Ilvermorny, Durmstrang or Beauxbatons series with some new carachters, a Hogwarts Legacy one etc. these are just some examples that i think many would love. i think if they keep ruining the HP universe, us fans are not gonna get more content in the future because no one is going to invest in it. i know people don't like Fantastic Beasts (i love it lol) and if they do bad thing after bad thing maybe it's going to end up in no one expanding the wizarding world...
Make a MARAUDERS series please!
