    I always buy cropped tops (not the bralette ones, no one, including me, wants to see my tummy skin!), but a standard cropped length just covers my waistband, perfect! I don’t want to show skin, I just want tops and sweaters that don’t drown me, 5’4”. I’m not slender, either, I’m about a size 10 US, so I find that more structured items are more flattering. Cardigans look so frumpy on me that I only wear them at home. I wear structured blazers, jackets or coats when I go out and feel so much sharper in them.

    I love your instructional videos. They are so helpful. I have a short torso, short waist and long legs. I am 5 feet 2.5 inches and typically cannot wear petite or short pants because they are too short. Please keep doing this type of video for petites. They are awesome!

    Extra thanks, Chi, for giving us another great video and in Christmas week, too. It’s such a busy time of year. I have the unusual (?) situation of having a short upper torso, but it’s longer than average for my height from my waist to the leg break. Because my rib cage is set so low, there’s not much room for a defined waist, even when I was young and 2” taller. So, I need high rise, 11” pants with stretchy waists, but tops always are way too low-cut and if they have straps, they’re ridiculously long. Not all straps can be shortened, either. I can only size down so much, as I’m naturally busty (E cup) and can’t stand that straining across there, it’s unflattering, too. Tops and sweaters are so long on me they’re sometimes thigh-length, which I hate. I tuck in all my tops and don’t want to have to shorten them all, I already have to narrow the hip and waist sections. Are all bodies this difficult to dress?

    • @di3486
      @di3486 Рік тому +1

      You are lucky you even have a high rise. I look like a potato sack on those. There are much more difficult shapes than yours for sure.

    • @PetiteDressing
      @PetiteDressing  Рік тому +5

      I agree on that! All bodies are really hard to dress especially if we are not familiar with what works best for us. Experimenting fabrics and styles is definitely the key to finding out what or where we are comfortable with. In the end, it's all about how we carry ourselves out there ❤️

    Why not do body shape and proportion analyses online? This would help a lot of women, it took me until my 50s to really figure out these things, and it might be a good sideline business for you. There are a few others doing this, but not, I think as well as you would, you have the trained and experienced eye for it. The market is still wide open and the cost of the extant analyses is too high, $100 (especially considering that the client is virtually doing all the work, anyway). Fifty dollars would be more accessible and appealing. Plus, these analyses require a lot of detailed vertical measurements that I can’t accurately take by myself. If I could, I would do the simple arithmetic analysis myself. All you would need is a straight-on photo of each client in leggings and a tank, in good light against a reasonably plain background. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to buy from your brand, I look frequently, it’s a great concept but I can’t wear synthetic fibers.

    I know I have a short torso, but haven't figured out my "sweet spot" for rise 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️
    I have the toughest time finding bottoms that the crotch doesn't hang down in. I'm 4'11 59 inches, my inseam is is 27, and my legs measured 29 inches. Not sure if this is accurate, if so my torso and leg measurements are only 1 inch apart??

      oh I feel your pain......try the regular length with a low rise, it should sit at your waist.

  • @shanayad8779

    This is me but worse. Along with a shorter torso I'm also blessed with a big behind and a lower belly pouch. Trousers don't seem to work for me at all whether high, mid or low making it really difficult for me to decide what to wear and I end covering everything with longer tops. Crop tops don't look either given the belly although I'm not much on the heavier side, I just tend to hold fat in these places. I'm having a hard time here, in real need of a stylist!!

    One thing that is very frustrating about having a short torso is that the bottom of a top or jacket will fall lower on you than it would on someone with a longer torso. This can make it too tight since it’s hitting at a place on your hips that is wider than where it would hit on someone with a longer torso. This in turn makes finding the right size difficult because if you size up to accommodate that, the top or jacket can end up being too big on top!

    5'3" and you would think petite jeans would fit...but no, my legs are a regular length so what's left over is a very short torso where your boobs are almost at you waist when you sit. Back in the day, hip hiphuggers (low rise) where my friend, and they fit at my waist....no wonder I learned how to sew...meh.

      I am sorry to hear that. I find It is common among women that we judge ourselves, our body is too harsh in our eyes and we have the people around us that see how beautiful we are. It's a great UA-cam video about painter artists that had to sketch women without actually seeing them just by this women description and then other women that don't know them describe them to him and the painting looked so different. It's very powerful. I will try to find the link and share it with you.
      You are beautiful exactly as are. We need to practice self love every single day. Wishing you happy holidays and all the best ❤️
