I have a Toyota Hiace D4D. It has done 250,000km. Been having trouble with it cutting out at idle while stopped and hesitating or even cutting out at low throttle position while driving. Today I pulled out the SCV and sure enough a bit of gunk in there and slight wear on piston. Fine marks as well. Polished it up as you show in the video and a good clean. Runs like new again! Thanks so much for your ideas in this video! Owe you a beer some day!
@@Chollanger148-pv8jp It was that long ago I don't remember. Have the later Hiace now. I would say it must have otherwise I wouldn't have been able to service it. It was a 2007 model
I'm glad the video helped. I picked up a 1997 Hiace a couple years back. I love this vehicle! So glad to hear the video was able to give you an idea of a place to look. I hope your vehicle is still doing well!
have a montero 2011, the scv didnt look the same, it didnt have the snap rings to remove the piston, i just sprayed alcohol in the holes to remove some gunk
Thanks for the video. I did this with the scv of my ms gls se 3.2l 4m41 and it is exactly the same procedure. Power loss from 1800-3000 rpm disappeared and intermittent rail pressure is gone!
Dennis Rafol I'm happy to hear it's the same procedure and it worked for you! I've heard that some have different SCVs for the 3.2l 4M41. Some may be similar as well. Cheers
MonteroGuy yep, the procedure for temoval and service is the same. Your video just saved me money :-). If yours is the 4x4 one, watch out for brittle cvboots, replaced mine at about 90k odo reading. And make sure you have regular egr cleaning. I couldn't save mine because the dc motor was shot due to sticking valve. I had to buy a new one for about 139$. I now clean it every 20k reading.
Dennis Rafol yeah, I had a problem with my EGR at 20k, I think that's excellent advice, to have EGR serviced every 20k. I have been thinking about selling EGR valves, though they are costly to hold in inventory. Thank you for advice regarding brittle CV boots. I do have a 4x4 and will keep an eye on the boots to help ensure the health of my CV joints. I appreciate the tips and feedback. I'm happy you saved money :)
Hey i too have a DI-D engine the problem with mine is it cant rev up to 2500 rpm its like the engine is struggling. Is this also a symptom of a bad SCV?
That was one of my symptoms, though I suspect my vehicle was being forced into limp mode by the ECU. Best to get a cheap OBD scanner and get some error codes.
Hello MonteroGuy. I live in Negros Occidental Philippines and I also own a 2009 Montero Sport GLS (not the SE or V) and I'm wondering if you have experienced your oil light coming on? The car runs fine as usual, but I don't like seeing the oil light on all the time. I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty, but I'm not finding any guidance on the oil light, whether it's a failed sensor or something of that nature. Thank you Sir!
Hi GaleForce. I own a 2009 Strada GLX same engine as yours. My oil light turns on also and i investigate what's going on and i found out that the culprit is the oil pressure sensor. I just replaced the oil pressure sensor and the light is gone or you can just disconnect the plug that was attached to the sensor.
Thanks! @@angeluripalda for the advice. I am having a hard time with auto mechanic support here in San Carlos City. Where should I purchase the oil pressure sensor? on Lazada? Thanks again!
More money than brain. Typical "credit card" approach to solve problems. LOL 😂 What's wrong about having it work for several more years without further issues. With zero cost?

Great Video Can someone please tell me if I can open up a SCvalue on a 2008 Holden Colorado or is it a sealed unit? Big Thank you in advanced!
How do you know if it is faulty ?
For me, once my vehicle started going into limp mode, I did an OBD scan and an edit code came up saying SCV.
What's the tool you use to remove the clip?
Snap ring remover
When everything is ok, i should polished the SCV valve?
I have triton/montero 2.5 did 237000km.
If everything is ok, I wouldn't. What's the saying? If it works, don't fix it.

Polishing them makes the bore & piston more slack it will last a little longer but will have to be replaced eventually
