Hey Folks,
There are 4 factors that govern guitar machine heads.
After 3 factors are set, then the fourth factor is dictated - but only after 3 factors are set.
If only 1 or 2 factors have been implicitly or explicitly indicated, then the remaining factors cannot be determined.
The factors can be described in different ways (and some descriptions make more sense in specific situations).
One way to describe the 4 factors are: type of tuner (right or left), mounting side of the headstock (right or left when viewed from the front), side of the peg that the string comes off), and which way you turn the tuner knob to tighten the string (the guitar way or the righty-tighty way).
Since there are 16 different combinations of the 4 factors, people can and do do it in all possible ways!
Viva la vida!
Nice, I’m about to wrap up a super simple build myself. Feeling inspired after getting my swap guitar from Shane. Hope you’re doing good Del! Looks like you cured those postage due blues 😂😒🤣
Hey Del... With the rough cut saw marks, maybe hit it with a propane torch to bring up the grain before you hit it with clear coat. Just an idea. Got the cans an stuff pretty much together. I'll be shipping them out this week. I'm excited to get this rolling. Tired of sitting in this chair. Enjoy the weekend brother.
I believe the neck you showed at 0:50 has a horizontal grain. I watched on older video where you hammered on the fact that it should be near vertical grain. Have you changed your opinion on this?
Saludos!!!
Love your builds brotha!! Cant wait til i retire so i can work on mine all day everyday haha. Cheers!!
How are the pine necks holding up?
I always considered pine but was afraid of how soft it is….was afraid the pine would warp easily.
no problems… but i use only three strings with low tension tunings ☺️
Beautiful as always. I was at a woodworking show a couple years ago, and a guy was telling me those dark streaks you occasionally find in pine is a result of the tree going through a fire sometime in its growing cycle. He had some really interesting chests and tables built from trees which had been fire scarred.
interesting!!! awesome!!!😎
Masterful!
Super!
Awesome work Del. 🤟 You should try to make something crazy like a shovel or pitch fork guitar or something crazy like that.😁🎸🤟🎶
Bang on Del every one is different, and every one sounds different.
Hi Del . Great cbg ,love your builds . I'm building a 20inch scale electric cbg with a 3 pole electric pickup from cb gitty . I was wondering what gauge strings to use , if i use rgular strings ie the A,D,G strings for g,d,g tuning with a lowish action will the be too loose . Would appreciate your advice if you've got the time . Thanks Graham 😂
you’ve got to play around with different settings to figure out what you like. i don’t think you’ll have any problems with your string selection
Thanks Del . Sorry but what do you mean about settings . Thanks Graham
Beautiful neck, why put fretboards on? And as always, a very cool outro!
You know I love the simplicity of these kinds builds and the amazing sound differences of the neck woods and strings ...that's money Del 🤘🏼
cha ching!!! 👍🏽😎
An easy build .lol my frst I went through 3 knecks to get one .lol 😢
Del your videos are awesome keep it up brother
Sweeeeetttt!
SWEET !
I see a punch box in the background with olive green maybe???
😅 Idk why I saw that but man I gotta see the layout Del maybe a future build 🙂 I'll be watching
yup… it’s up next … awesome boxes !!!
WOW PTL
🤘
That saddles seems really far back on the box. I’d be nervous having it down there if I needed to lengthen the scale length
yup… living close to the edge 😂
While this is pretty simple, I think the simplest build is to attach the neck to the top of the box, like a dulcimer! I think it's called the "uncle crow" style CBG.
but how would you open and close the box… you’d have to separate the lid from the box right??
@@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar No, you don't have to separate the lid, although you may need to screw the lid closed. You can glue, screw or bolt the neck right to the lid. I have also attached the neck to the bottom of the box, so I can still open it. You can see one on my channel that I built where I bolt the neck to the bottom of the box, making the bottom the soundboard. The video title is ""No Saw" Cigar Box Guitar Build! - How to build a cigar box guitar using very few tools!" I posted in June 2020.
What are the dimensions of the box?
smaller than usual … roughly 9x7x2
I think I’ll try this simple build for my
next build. I also found
another simple build I’m going to try. Joe -

Instruments. Thanks Del. You are always an inspiration. Keep on doing what you’re doing.
Nice job Del. Thanks for the tunes.
