I’ve started these videos so you can get the most out of your Cigar Box Guitar and Shovel.
In this lesson we explore the classic Doors song.
The song is originally in E but here we’re playing it in G.
Thank you for all your support....
Hey Mark. Thanks for your very well done instruction videos.
I am just learning the CBG at 67 years old and must say it addictive. I picked up a VOX mini go 10 and have so much fun with it.
Anyone reading this drop Mark a few bucks to keep this help coming!
Hi from England,Thanks Mark you are just making us better players every day.
That's my aim....i'm glad it's working and THANK YOU
Just hooked on your channel Uncle Mark. Not only do you pick great songs but how you break them down and take some of the mystery out of it all really is boss. Top man.
WOW, Thanks
I have always loved that song . Jim Morrison was a wild man . Only one, he was a very interesting human . Still is. I love that hard driving Rock n Roll /Boogie with Stu is one of my favourite also .Zeppelin version to me is the best .I love Zeppelin. Awesome video .Can you imagine going to a party with Doors and Zeppelin .Late sixties early 70s had great music .
I know right. Thanks
thanks for the tuning and string size info great way to start the video
Thanks a bunch
This song is one of my favorites and with your lesson I will make this my first one to learn on a 3 string Cbd
Great lessons and keep up the great work

Thanks so much uncle 💸
thanks for reminding me....and Thanks
You do good job
Thank you so much
Ordered my first CBG because of your videos your ability to simplify things inspired me. Blues music is purely feeling and soul.
Damm now I'm looking for a looper!!! I hope this new passion doesn't get out of control.
1st thing.... yes, it can get out of control, but when buying anything (pedals & such) always think ROI (return on investment) trust me, you will buy things that on first glance are awesome....but then you find you dont use it much or dont even like it 2 weeks later.... so before you buy ... see what you would get for it used if you decided to sell the next day. Let that determine if you really need it. I speak from 46 yrs of buying and selling...
@@unclemarkscigarboxguitarlesson Since you brought up purchasing equipment. I bought a very inexpensive 3 string CBG just to check one out. I found that I enjoy it and would like to get into in a bit more. I really only want to buy one and be able to use it for most songs. So, I am leaning toward a 4 string fretted one. Would that still work for using a slide and learning some of the stuff you show on a 3 string model? Am I making any sense? Your advice would be appreciated.
@@dv0830b my videos are more tailored to 3 string, although many concepts and certain songs will work too. There are thankfully some folks that tailor their lessons to 4 string if that’s where you want to go. Have fun
your helping me and others a lot uncle mark THANKS A LOT!!!!!
My goal is your improvement.... Thanks so much.
@@unclemarkscigarboxguitarlesson You're doing a helluva job! Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.

Awesome, thank you!
Thx Mark another great lesson ,another great classic song. Have recently found a classic from Kris Kristofferson "me and Bobby mgee "have tried my version like to see yours one day.thx
maybe I'll do a "live from the mothership" version for ya
Cheers looking foward to catching that thx👍
Just bought my first cbg. Think the action is way too high but I'm going to give your lessons a try. You sound terrific and helpful.
Thanks for the kind words. The “action” string height above frets should be very low and consistent from nut to last fret, with no buzz. This is actually quite hard to do. I don’t build, I’m inept at woodwork. Best of luck and I hope you enjoy the lessons on UA-cam.
I build CBG's. I'd be happy to help you with your action issues. No charge. You will need to be a bit handy when it comes to CBG adjustments, although, it isn't difficult
@@dgperforms1 thanks. I believe I should go some other way than the 2 bolts as brige and nut.
Uncle Mark, really enjoyed this lesson. I'm sitting at the airport in Buffalo NY heading home to the PNW. Was wondering do you have a more complete tutorial on this tune with the cigarbox guitar & harmonica through the whole song with words or perhaps tab? I'm doing this tune for my monthly harmonica group. Adding a cigarbox guitar is a huge bonus thanks to you!
The album version is in key of E, this (for convenience) is in open G. The whole harp thing revolves around which key you use. I think it's informative enough for what it is.... I may revisit it in E at a later time. Cheers.
Dog play so fine be fine
Where’s the tip jar? I can’t find it. Thanks for all the lessons, they are a big help to me.
Virtual tip jar: www.paypal.me/unclemarktips it's in the show notes and Thanks for the kind words

Great lesson thanks! Any chance of covering a song by The Clash? That'd be worth a tip.
I'll do my best...thanks
Thanks for replying Uncle Mark, look forward to your eventual lesson.
I too would like info on facetime lessons, specifically get the rhythm down for this song
PM me. Uncle Mark Cigar Box Guitar Wizard Facebook
@@unclemarkscigarboxguitarlesson I sent you a PM , looking forward to hearing from you.
diggin it man..gotta question, I use a 42-*32-24 wound, is there a reason why you use a 34 on the middle string? always lookin' to up my game. keep rockin' man :)
No reason, I just got used to it. I don't think it makes a big difference in the big picture tone wise....who knows? Thanks for the kind words.
@@unclemarkscigarboxguitarlesson I appreciate ya' man ;)

Good morning,
Is it better to connect a CBG to an electric and/or acoustic amp?
Musical friendships.
Pierre (Picardy/FRANCE)
Acoustic amp = acoustic tones only
Electric amp = acoustic and electric dirty tones (more versatile)
