I'm definitely a circle mill guy too. I've helped some friends with their band mills and not having roller benches and having to lift every piece is a job and will wear you out just to cut a couple thousand feet a day. With my frick mill we regularly hit 10,000 ft a day and seldom have more than 3 guys helping me and they keep everything put on stacking strips and run the pine slabs through a slab chipper. Definitely a lot more productive on a circle mill except for the extra saw knerf everyone cries about
Great video. A vertical band has the benefits of both ease of off feed and smaller kerf. I retired as a millwright assigned to a horizontal band mill with a three hundred horsepower electric motor on the band mill and twenty horsepower hydraulic infeed rolls. They have a twin band vertical also, but I never worked much on it.
I have a LM30 band mill that I use for hobbies and I really love it; but I am really impressed with how fast that circle mill can cut. For large dimensional lumber I would think the circle mill would be more productive. Another great video, Thanks
I can see where it's more work for Brittany on the LT-15, but by adding the Board Return Kit, a length of roller conveyor, and maybe raising the deck up off of the ground by a few more inches, would set her up to handle the slabs much more ergonomically!! Depending on how many slabs you cut on the LT-15, it could be well worth it in efficiency!!
I am a old man and so names just don't stick with me so very good. I told this fellow about you'ns as he is having some kinds of a problem with his old circle mill. His channel is "This and that garage". It is falling off of the track plus binding up on his blade..... love you'ns videos
Hi, how many board feet can you get per day on your circle saw? And what's the cost comparison between bandsaw blades and circle saw teeth? How often do you need to have your blade hammered?
what about blade sharpening and hammering on the circular saw blade. I have a friend that has switched to a bandsaw mill because we live in Canada near Sault Ste. Marie and it is a long way to someone that can hammer large circular saw blades. Do they need to be done often? Do you know what can throw them out of shape?
the better question is which offbearer is worth more money per board foot in the end? that'll give you a lot of parameters so you can skew them any way you like hehe
Great Video explaining the difference between the two. We also have a circular mill and a band mill. Both have their place in the world. #woodruffsawmill
good video........... Full of info. Just 1 thing the BDF % advantage of a log in a band mill vs a circle mill. Also the cost of inserts and blade cost difference if you hit iron. I've seen circle blades rip in half and the possible damage to the bull works
I to am a sawmiller I have a all steel circle mill and a smaller Hudson bandmill as well I would like to see a video of how to align a circle mill to cut straight and be level mine is a meadows portable mill circular mill 52in blade
If you had a better bandsaw mill it would be all power and it would pull the sawn boards off onto a narrower bed so it would be even easier for Brittany than the circular saw mill. That said, for watching videos, I prefer a circular saw mill although I do find the totally manual aspect of your particular mill a little annoying.
6-71 N is 238 hp, 4-71 is 160 a 3-71 is 105 all with n65 injectors and 4 valve head. For mill use drop back to n60 injectors. Small hp loss but much better low end torque at lower rpm. With 6-71 reduce rpm to 1200 still have enough hp and much better fuel use. I run my 4-71 at 1400 rpm plenty of power. about 120 hp and all the saw needs. and uses about 1 gallon of fuel per hour. I figure 10 gal 8 hr with motor running the full 8 hours. But with good logs mill will only run a couple hours to saw 2500 board feet.
What do you get when you take the best of both worlds and leave the worst of both worlds and combine them? You end up with handling 10" round logs and less that you can handle by hand and a saw mill designed more for the hobbyist and... for a whole lot less money and maintenance with the big plus of having serious timbers to build strong structures with (6 X 6 X 12'-6"). This saw is no joke and is well made and well designed I just wish I would have done this 20 years ago. ua-cam.com/video/Oq7fOd_O5yM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/k7cBLq1rgPo/v-deo.html
Thank you for the explanation. I've never run a circular mill. As a fellow sawyer I really enjoy your channel and learn a lot.
Thanks for watching!

Perfectly said!
Watching and waiting, on the Frick...Back in the old days, i had a Meadows-now i have a Timber harvester, same as Cooks mill...

That’s cool to hear!
Great video. They both have their advantages and disadvantages

Thanks for watching!
Great description. I really enjoy yall's videos !
4V non turbo Detroit 371 is 97HP @ 2000 RPM. Fuel consumption is not listed.
Very informative video!! Thank you... 👍🏼
Glad it was helpful!
Can't beat the antique! I do love the band saw mill though woodmizer has a good product, it's still exciting to start up my mill up everytime!
Really enjoy watching your videos👍🏻
I think you told some really good descriptions there

Britt also brings beauty and class to each video It is hard being the pretty one you know.
Hi, how many board feet can you get per day on your circle saw?
And what's the cost comparison between bandsaw blades and circle saw teeth?
How often do you need to have your blade hammered?
I've always wanted to ask why band sawmills need fluid on the blade to clean it and as far as I know not on the circle saw.? Thanks for teaching us.

Would you agree that it would depend on what the requirement for the wood is and the configuration/shape of the log.
the better question is which offbearer is worth more money per board foot in the end? that'll give you a lot of parameters so you can skew them any way you like hehe

Good job.
I wish I could find you patrion page.
With N60 Injectors: Horsepower (BHP): 66 at 1200 RPM, 84 at 1600 RPM, 97 at 2000 RPM.
sounds like my 100hp was pretty close!

I have a question but it about both sort of. What do you do with the saw dust?
How thick of a slab can the LT15 handle?
With working alone my only option is a band mill
Have you ever owned a Lucas type mill , flip saw
How come you didn’t go with a fully hydraulic saw mill instead of the LT15 wide that you got?
Availability
@@wallacefarmandsawmill that makes sense! Do you have plans for a fully hydraulic woodmizer??
Good information
Thanks!

Im about to do a full Frick 0 sawmill build on the channel. I will go over the entire process!
Come on now we see all these jobs Brittany does out there lol just kidding I know u guys work really hard together
Looking for contact info to talk to you about possible purchase
Brittany which sawmill you prefer to operate circle or band?
Bandmill.
THANKS!
You're welcome!
Speed of cut appears to be much faster on the circle saw. ,
3x or better.
❤
DT 371 113hp.
I think circle mill is a lot faster, didn't hear you mention that.
For me, it’s all about speed. Having owned both, the circle mill is waaaay faster.
Depending which injectors you have goes the horse power
Band mill makes a smoother cut
True!
Circle saw mill cut's better but the only problem is what it takes for the engine.
If you had a better bandsaw mill it would be all power and it would pull the sawn boards off onto a narrower bed so it would be even easier for Brittany than the circular saw mill. Yield is money out of a log.
3 71 4 valve head 113 hp m on average but specs say can go a whole bunc more ponys
Thanks for info! It does a fine job.
had one of each hated the circle mill hard to work alone
671 puts out about 220 hp
Nope your way off

Brittany probably poisoned you for making her work so hard
