Chris, no matter where your opportunities take you, I wish you the best. Thank you for the journey that you’ve shared with us so far. Of course, if possible, I hope we can accompany you in the future. Best wishes, Tom.
That was me he had the chat with, and it was a nice little chat about life, that could have ended up more than a little chat if I hadn't had to go to work at the motor museum 😂!!
You can take the Chris out of Maximise Life but you'll never take the Maximise Life out of Chris as one lock shuts another lock opens Good luck buddy embrace those opportunities It's all part of The vehicle of life !! ✌️😉
The main reason why I've been watching this channel from when you first began is, its not about the boat its not about the narrowboat cruising and that is nice when it happens. Its about following a person's journey. Discovering their thoughts and passions and learning about their life. The story continues. Although somewhat on another tack. But it's still the same person doing their do's. For me, this is getting better as it goes along. Wishing you all the bet in your new adventure and you can bet I'm hanging on to see where this goes. Cheers mate
Fantastic news for you Chris. Of course Max had to come first back then, he's family. Having been with you form the start I, and I'm sure many others, will continue to follow whatever parts of your life you wish to share with us. Good luck in the middle east and wherever your next chapter takes you. All the best from Lincolnshire, UK
Best of luck with your new opportunity and be safe. Maximizing life is also about living in the moment so don't worry if you cannot vlog during your new adventure, just take it all in. Besides, you know we'll be here waiting for your return and to hear about your wonderful adventures.
Very much from the heart Chris ❤ life is what you make it, never miss out on an opportunity, you will always regret the paths you never took, life follows a path for a reason, yours has been a towpath for a while. Good luck in your new venture - as you say maximizing what you have, you never know where life will take you or which will be day will be your last so make what you have count. Marina life will be a new experience for sure
Dear Chris Age has taught me that life is like a book. You start by opening the book. After that, one never knows where the story will go, but you keep reading. Finally you get to the end, close the book up and place it back on the shelf for another. Everything you have said in this vlog is so true. Thank you again for sharing your words of wisdom. and thank you for sharing another part of your life. All the very best in the next chapter of YOUR life. I will be here waiting for you to return. Mark Alberta, Canada
Life's rich tapestry of opportunity. A change is as good as a rest. Pastures new. Take your pick, just hope you find some inner happiness and stillness. Stay safe Chris xx
Chris, life is like that, you have to bend to it's twists and turns. Otherwise you break. Enjoy the journey wherever it may take you, even if I'm not a part of the journey, I wish you well. You've shared so much over the past two years, thank you so much for doing that.
Oh I would like to add , Martin, a huge, and public thanks for your time and hospitality for taking us shopping, even though I love, the walking and bicycle riding, it is so nice to get a lift, and group chat in your truck and we were so kindly ferried around to many different shops petrol stations etc . Both Chris and I are very appreciative of your kindness. Thank you very much.
Life lesson for all of us... Maximise Life and take the opportunities because you don't know what's around the corner... well, there's no more corners in a marina that's for sure :) Take care, good luck and we'll see you when we see you!
You’re a good man Chris. My elderly parents are looking after me due to a health problem at the moment. I am in no doubt that your son is eternally thankful to have you support him like that.
I’m always losing things. I wear 4 different pairs of glasses because I can’t get on with varifocals. The chances of finding all 4 pairs on one day are minimal. When you leave your keys in the fridge they feel nice and cool. My mobile phone enjoys snuggling up in the duvet. My woes aside, I’m very pleased that your son is better and that you’re spending time caring for him and supporting your other children; it’s what good Dads do. If we don’t hear from you again, I’ll miss you but I’ll know that you’ve moved on enjoying new opportunities and Maximising your Life. Thank you for sharing your journey and thank you for sharing your heart. Warm hugs 😘😘
Keys in the fridge. How long did that take you to find them? Mobil in the duvet, been there, too many times. So much so, that’s a go to place now. I’ll be back. Need to find my way down to the K&A.
So glad to hear that Max is doing better, time with family is not something you can put off until later, and we spend much of our life trying to do so. I retired in January, and literally on my way out the door got an email asking me to do a consulting project, the fee for a couple of weeks work will pay for a month of travel, I couldn't say no. Take those opportunities when you can.
Hi Chris, your vlogs are really informative and quite entertaining too, and you really seem to be making the best of it. I don't remember how long it took me to get used to living and working barges, I think that is was at the most 2 weeks instead of 2 years, I started aged 22 and now at 75 I am still living on a boat, although not a commercial barge anymore, and can't see that changing in a hurry, I don't feel comfortable in a house, even whan staying with lovely family for a week, and I am always happy to be back on board again. About losing stuff on the boat, I lost myself, searched everywhere, and I found myself again stupidly (as usual) staring at me in the mirror, quite a shocking experience to say the least. I do wish you all the very best in and with your new ventures, and I will follow you in your vlogs. All the very best and lots of success.
Thanks Peter. Experience talking which I always value. I’m getting used to it. I’ve always been able to do it. It’s not hard as such, but harder than house life. If I was with someone, I would get around to saying it’s a great life.
Chris, Sheree and I met you at Cosgrove last year and you pointed me to new fenders and lines etc. I am now a solo boater and just want to say " tomorrow is not guaranteed, do what you have to do as this opportunity may not come around again" All the best. Nigel
Chris, be it a new "det" or new tour I am sure your experiences will help others maximise life. Glad to hear that it is not exactly a new permanent posting but as you say opportunities in life are there to be explored, developed and relished - just as you have done over that past couple of years. I hope it goes well and it is not hot and dusty as some places in the Middle East! Best wishes and hope to see you on the KA sometime, Doug
That’s exactly how I’m looking at it Doug. This is a small det and if it becomes more a posting. That’ll be it. But along the way, I’ll do what I do to keep the channel going.
Enjoy the month in the Middle East Chris. To misquote.....Life is not a destination it is a journey. Having followed your journey thus far, I look forward to following your adventures.
I take it this opportunity is financially attractive. I do love life and the different doors it opens along the way. Good luck with the new venture, I wish you all the very best.
Yes, for certain, your videos are getting better in quality, both technically and in terms of content. Going to the Middle East doesn't sound like something for the faint-hearted, but I'm sure you know the territory well enough to deal with it. Hope all goes well and it proves to be a challenge worth experiencing.
Thanks Peter. Your merch is on its way. There’s been a faff that is my fault……well not directly. I’ll send an email to explain. Thanks for the support and I’m not doing anything like my old job. Office work.
I’m hoping to vlog but I am aware of not having children or women or over looking walls, filming houses that could be construed as doing something wrong. It’s a tolerant country but never can be too sure.
Please stay safe - I know you’re experienced at looking after yourself but please take care. Come back safely to your lovely floating home. When you have time and are able to vlog we will be here. It’s you and your journey most people follow. You go ahead and maximise your opportunities now your boy is better 🛫☀️💕
Glad I'm not the only one who speaks to every body my husband says I would talk to a paper bag. 😁 When out with my 6 year old granddaughter she ask me if I know everybody. 🤔
Hey Chris what a brilliant piece of work this vlog is. Seeing you go in the marina I thought you cruising spirt was being constrained, we shall see. Well I will reconoitre our route onto the Thames and I will be waiting for you to catch up. I will be having breakfast down at the cafe tomorrow. Sir you look after yourself and I am glad things are already slotting into place in M.E.speak soon. Could have done with your young muscles to help me with changing my batteries. Oh well. Missing you encouraging up those hills. Take care, Colin.
You are right about children. I have two wonderful daughters who are both proper living adults and in good jobs. I am now retired and have the funds available to pay them an allowance each month to help them pay off their mortgages. I am also their diy and car issues helpline 🙂
So, big changes are afoot. I don't think you actually said what you are going to be doing in the middle east, but I hope all goes well. Enjoy your time in the Marina, I look forward to whatever filming you have the opportunity to share. One last thing if I may, in the last three or so vlogs your mental health seems to have improved a lot, that's great. Looks like you are living life to the max 🤩
Thanks Gordon. It is about the light increasing happiness and spending time with Colin as well as the weather warming up a bit. Hot out here. 35 degrees and rising
Great news...New opportunities ahead, and Maximising life is about grabbing those opportunities and running with them. Life is short...and life is for living. Enjoy yourself out...but most of all stay safe.
Really enjoy your vlogs, they are beautifully filmed. Like your attitude to life and authority Wishing you well on your next adventure. Stay safe out there and true to yourself .
Best of luck Chris, it'll be interesting to see what life throws up to you. the middle east will certainly be a different beast to the South Oxford. it'll also be interesting to see what marina life is like. Look forward to more vlogs, but as and when, obvs.
Fantastic Chris, grabbing opportunities are what life is about. Family without doubt kids first, great dad (one I didn’t have) they will never forget ❤. Will always catch up with your vlogs, your hard work deserves that and you are always interesting and enjoyable as your so natural in front of the camera, so pleased for you xx
Nice one, Chris. I wish you well in your next chapter. Thanks for the name check😅! Hopefully, I'll see you again some other time for a nice little chat about life 💪😉😀
Chris mate you do what you have to do, as you said missed opertunities and hindsite are mind blowers lol :) Your content has always been top notch so if it goes a bit wonky for a while it is what it is lol take care mate :)
Fantastic news Chris mate. We got to meet your mate DJ last week, super nice guy. We'll still be looking forward to your vlogs in the future and wish you all the very best in your new venture. Craig and Leeann
All the best. And hope to continue enjoying your point of view on life and your videos. (No canals in NZ) Just put my fire on for the first time since last year, winter is coming to NZ. Houses (average a million apparently or close too) and rents ( 2 bed, if lucky includes a lounge about $700+ a week) are stupidly expensive. Everything is. People are doing it hard. And a national party is in. Busy stripping away the help for those who need it. And slashing jobs left, right and center. But still they get a salary increase! Kia kaha Kia ora. Cheers
Life of a politician. I believe they’re all in it for themselves and not for the greater good of the country nor the people. That’s just the by-product.
It will be good for you soul and for your mental health. Through watching your videos I have already determined that canal life is not for me. The solitude, and the confines of living in a metal tube seem crushing to m. It will be good for you to get out of it for a while - a trip to the middle east sounds like a good opportunity to change the scenery for a while. Have a great trip!
I’m pleased I’ve been able to influence people in the correct and right way. It was not a choice for me, it was almost a necessity for reasons. Do I want out…….this job may offer an opportunity. But as I said, the boat is my home.
Hi Chris, I lost a door key somehow a couple of years ago and solved any risk of another loss by getting a 5key chain on my belt and so far I haven’t forgotten my trousers. 😂 Have a great time in the Middle East. Ian 👍 ps don’t worry about a reply.
Need to keep on top of it Ian. I now have a secret hidden place for a spare key should I ever loose a key when I’m out. The trouble is…….it was some time ago I hid it. It’s crap being so busy I don’t have time to take notice of life. Thanks for the comment
Firstly congratulations on your new role, it will be really SAD if you stop vloggong. I look forward to seeing you on a Wednesday morning when iam sat in my spare bedroom working!!!! It makes my week. You need to do what is right for you and your family. Glad that Max is getting better and your other children are behind you. Good luck, stay safe and I will look forward to your next vlogs!!! Kind regards Alison and Mike Narrowboat SK
It all sounds very exciting, grab the opportunities while you can. I hope it doesn't send you too much back in to the rat race as it seems like your were after a slower life. Very glad your son in well now. Take care out there 🙂
Chris I have to stop it here, when you did your attention salute bit, I said allowed “what was that”, then half a second later you said the same, made me chuckle, I shall now continue lol, oh I, “good morning”…
Hi Chris, just for info I have two kids plus grandkids in New Zealand and I know that over the last 10 years house prices have risen dramatically there by about 70% in most regions. I know that it`s a fairly expensive place to visit nowadays.
Isn’t everything going up expediently. Not so sure globalisation is as good as it’s made out to be. Need to back to trading partners and rely on those. Never happen as it’s too late to reinvest in the infra
That is the plan but I don’t want to get it wrong with the cultural differences. A bloke filming where I could inadvertently do it wrong has consequences, although I have started getting a few clips.
Nice one Chris Make sure they pay you in Bitcoin Loved the slow drone tracking shot......save those so you can just bring them up when it suits from the menu. I'm so glad to hear that your Max is on the healthy side of things. I deal with Lymphoma and have done chemo and has helped me immensely. Hard though when it's your kids......my heart go's out. Throw your self to the wind friend
TBF I'm constantly losing stuff on the boat and I'm sure I jinxed it because when I moved aboard I thought it's such a small space I couldn't lose anything 😆😆😆 but TV remotes and mobile phones are the prime suspects to go missing oh and sometimes food from the fridge goes missing because my lurcher can open the fridge door 😂😂😂 also I found I got used to living on the boat instantly I just had to get used to driving the boat which i found quite intimidating for the first couple of months also as you know I started out on the K&A I bought my boat from Sally narrowboats in bradford on avon marina and have to say its a great little marona and sally narrowboats have their own dry dock so do a lot of boat jobs and their a great bunch of people their soooo helpful and it's only a 20 minute cycle to Trowbridge center via the tow path or the road if it's wet and muddy ps sorry if I made that sounds a bit of an advert for them 😅😅
@@chrismears-inslowtime as I understand it the guy who owns Bradford on avon marina isn't on the Internet he's old school but you can get his contact details through Sally narrowboats , I started out in Bradford on avon marina so I can vouch it's safe peaceful and Sally's are really hellful
@@chrismears-inslowtime also if you want some help going through the K&A I'm pretty free and have traveled so far from Limpley stoke bridge to semington lock

Thanks Tom. I appreciate you kind support and comments
"A NICE LITTLE CHAT ABOUT LIFE"...Brilliant line.
That was me he had the chat with, and it was a nice little chat about life, that could have ended up more than a little chat if I hadn't had to go to work at the motor museum 😂!!
Thanks Lynn and Keith you’re right. It would have lasted a good while longer.

Thanks Jon. Appreciate the wise words. Marina life has its benefits that I may have to get used to. Do like the canal life though.

Best of luck Chris, it'll be interesting to see what life throws up to you. the middle east will certainly be a different beast to the South Oxford. it'll also be interesting to see what marina life is like. Look forward to more vlogs, but as and when, obvs.
Thanks Rob. Hoping to do a bit of filming this weekend. Friday and Saturday over here.

Thank you
Good luck Chris.
Thanks Adrian.
All the best. And hope to continue enjoying your point of view on life and your videos. (No canals in NZ)
Just put my fire on for the first time since last year, winter is coming to NZ.
Great vlog mate
Thanks Bradley
Firstly congratulations on your new role, it will be really SAD if you stop vloggong. I look forward to seeing you on a Wednesday morning when iam sat in my spare bedroom working!!!! It makes my week. You need to do what is right for you and your family. Glad that Max is getting better and your other children are behind you. Good luck, stay safe and I will look forward to your next vlogs!!! Kind regards Alison and Mike Narrowboat SK
Thanks for the kind words from you both. I appreciate the support.
It all sounds very exciting, grab the opportunities while you can. I hope it doesn't send you too much back in to the rat race as it seems like your were after a slower life. Very glad your son in well now. Take care out there 🙂
Sometimes you just have to do what feels right. This does and it has opportunities attached to it. Don’t know what they are just yet but….
@@chrismears-inslowtime Yes, roll with it. Wish you all the best 👍
Interesting.
Hopefully.
Chris I have to stop it here, when you did your attention salute bit, I said allowed “what was that”, then half a second later you said the same, made me chuckle, I shall now continue lol, oh I, “good morning”…
Nice 1 Chris, all the best with whatever you do, the best thing about the video was knowing your son is on the up. Good man…Per ardua.
I’ve been working longer hours than on Ops. Need a break to answer comments. Thanks Tony
@@chrismears-inslowtime in your own time mate, enjoy what break you get, thank you for your reply mi old…
you felt inside both shoes , were you expecting that one would be drier than the other Chris ?
Good point. Why I did that? And I suspect most would so too.
I think you should do more vlogs about you and not just the boat. Would be great to see how you get on in the ME.
That is the plan but I don’t want to get it wrong with the cultural differences. A bloke filming where I could inadvertently do it wrong has consequences, although I have started getting a few clips.
Come on Chris Admin
I know. I will improve…one day
run out of money already well planed lol
I’ve plenty of the money to live on but a little slush fund for later in life isn’t a bad thing
Nice one Chris
Make sure they pay you in Bitcoin
Loved the slow drone tracking shot......save those so you can just bring them up when it suits from the menu.
I'm so glad to hear that your Max is on the healthy side of things. I deal with Lymphoma and have done chemo and has helped me immensely. Hard though when it's your kids......my heart go's out.
Throw your self to the wind friend
Thank you Matt. Sorry to hear about your condition. I wish you the best and good health
TBF I'm constantly losing stuff on the boat and I'm sure I jinxed it because when I moved aboard I thought it's such a small space I couldn't lose anything 😆😆😆 but TV remotes and mobile phones are the prime suspects to go missing oh and sometimes food from the fridge goes missing because my lurcher can open the fridge door 😂😂😂 also I found I got used to living on the boat instantly I just had to get used to driving the boat which i found quite intimidating for the first couple of months also as you know I started out on the K&A I bought my boat from Sally narrowboats in bradford on avon marina and have to say its a great little marona and sally narrowboats have their own dry dock so do a lot of boat jobs and their a great bunch of people their soooo helpful and it's only a 20 minute cycle to Trowbridge center via the tow path or the road if it's wet and muddy ps sorry if I made that sounds a bit of an advert for them 😅😅
I’ll be on the hunt Nathan so all intelligence gathering is useful. Thanks mate
