I agree that overall the final story we got is supirior to what was planned initially. but at the same time I'd love to have some more interaction with the Old man.
Yeah thats the only thing I would have included from this draft. He’s such a mysterious character in WW, id love to see more of him. Before T2T ruined him of course.
I tough the old man could have been present to help explain the Prince pov better, like a voice over the gameplay similar to the Prince in the first game

Warrior Within is the goat of the series, and finding all these information, makes it even more better, i'm not disappointed from the final game we got, it's still awesome; for the old man, Ubisoft probably scrapped his role to reuse in Kindred Blades according to the trailer, but it didn't happen unfortunately.
To be honest the story in the actual game is much better and the sand wraith design in the actual game is better than the original design

Really interesting as usual, thanks for making this video. :) Interestingly the line at 6:30 saying "I want to win with honour, get back on your feet" sounds like one of the crow master's lines, so I wondered if they were actually only for him, but the fact that he refers to himself as the Dahaka makes me think not. Maybe they were simply reused. Maybe they intended for the same voice actor to do both the Crowmaster and the Dahaka's lines knowing that different filters would make them sound different enough...

Usually I love the cut content of my favorite movies and games and wish that it would be in the final product. But this time, I'm glad it didn't. Because the cut content would just continue the POP SOT fantasy route but the final version gave us the more horror, badass and cool Action route.

However at the time there was nothing to prove it available, so we just talked about it like of a cool rumor
We were obsessed with PoPWW, and even though not all of us had internet at the time, we collected and consumed every possible piece of information about it.

and all these years, I've been known the game (never had the chance to complete playing the game, mechanics are killing me a bit), I thought the empress was the guardian of the time and not Dahaka. Though, I knew, the main villain is Dahaka, but the empress was the key and she was, also, on the third game of the series. Probably, I'm mistaken, then! Interesting information! I'm glad, someone is searching for all of these! Especially on 2023, so many years later, after the game was officially released! Thank you, dude~

I just came across your video. I never liked the story of WW after playing the SOT. Idk why I think this story sounds so much better than the one we got and makes so much sense without complicating so many things while also giving the prince a lot of backstory and relatability.
Interesting, most people think that the story we got in the final game was far superior to this inital draft.
I think a lot of us were just young edgelords and don't quite grow past that nostalgia feeling. The story of the game feels quite nonsense but it's wrapped in the design and blood and gore and all that so most people don't really care

It's still the same game, but has a completely different soundtrack that was less heavy metal and more Arabic. If you know the answer, where did the new music come from?

The music was created specifically for the port. They changed the genre to Persian/Arabic probably because metal wasnt as prolific in gaming anymore. This port was made like 6 years after the PS2 port.

Almost all of the 'dahaka' lines are said by other enemies. I think they just had the dahaka actor run through several characters

I think the old man would've done the same as Globox in rayman 2 in the canopy level, hahaha. run away in fear and hide around the corner or in a room or something and come out once it's safe. both Ubisoft games.
It would have been interesting if the Old man and the Prince's friend was left in so they could explain his mental state and why he became so vicious and angry. While the versions of the Dahaka and the Wraith are better in the finished game.

I don't think that people these days would like the whole "Empress seducing the Prince with Women" thing. Still cool though.
I still think of a Remake of this game happening. There's a lot they can do. But I think that they could make the Dahaka more like Nemesis from Resident Evil 3. Still invincible but would be cool if you could choose to fight or run. And both choices can be real satisfying.

The empress seducing Prince is mostly a relic of how these Java games were where all of them had some weird Harem elements to them.
With the point of remakes I think i disagree. Dahaka works best when scripted and untouchable, I would want even more terrifying chases. Nemesis was turned into a joke in RE3R and I wouldn’t want Dahaka to suffer the same fate.
@@poptuts Okay this I agree with. I was mostly referring to the ORIGINAL Nemesis. Not the Remake. I think more scripted Chases would be nice. And uhh. I would prefer if we got some kind of flashback. Prince has been chased by the Dahaka for years. And only now he finds out that his weakness is water? That was a bit weird. Oh and I think that they should make his design consistent if they wanna remake all 3 games. And I think they should cast Yuri Lowenthal for all 3 games. Just make Prince sound older and more tired to show how much he's grown from Sands of Time. But enough about Remakes. I don't wanna disappoint myself.

@@poptuts The new PoP 2D game looks pretty good, I must admit. My Brother-In-Law had a copy of the Assassin's Creed 2.5 Game Trilogy and I was able to get some experience with games like that. This one looks a lot more impressive than those 3 games and I'm glad. Reminds me of the OG PoP games too while adding some elements from the SoT Trilogy.

Found them, they're actually from EU version of the first PC demo, it can be found on Mod DB.

There is one small detail you missed that supports ypur theory. During the first fight with kaileena in the final game, she mentions dahaka as amongst the adversaries she had sent to stop the prince from opening the two towers
She said “i had hoped the Dahaka would kill you”. That doesnt mean that she controls him, just that she knows that Prince is being hunted by the Dahaka.

For me a mix of the final game and the Kaileena who sends women to seduct the prince maybe it would be better, even the immortal sand wraith with the final design maybe was a another cool thing to left unchanged. Also the friend of the prince was a cool idea, if it was developed into a tragic death by the hands of the empress, after some story progression in the later parts of the game

That concept art shows a boss that was probably cut. I will be including it in the next video but it looks like an early art that just showed a concept that could be used. We dont really know too much about it.

Well originally Dahaka was probably just going to be a very strong sand enemy and have no godly powers of his own.
