Thank you! Excellent, well-made video. I had to replace a 1255 cartridge today, and this covered everything. Started with zero knowledge, and your video provided everything I needed to get the job done quickly and hassle free.
Awesome! Easy and straight forward! Thanks for the video. Only thing I would add is covering the drains, before starting. Never know when that stray part is going down the drain!
Rockin the ice tea in a mason jar! Thanks for helping me fix my faucet! Didnt need a replacement. The cartridge was loose, that was it! No out of pocket cost!

Hey buddy just wanted to say thank you very much for an amazing video you save me some money by calling a plumber I was able to follow your exact directions and steps and it worked perfectly thank you very much.
Thank you so much! I thought I was being so proactive and got a screen to stop the dripping but of course it didn’t. I’ve been putting off calling a plumber because of all the UA-cam videos teaching us how to do it ourselves and because if you I think I can.
Thanks for the video! Very clear explanation. I've just changed the cartridge in 10 mins. The only problem was to initially locate and align the wrench with that tiny screw in the handle.
Great video. Just had the smallest leak in upstairs kitchen for over a week undetected by renters. Changed the cartridge and all is good. Now for the ceiling, and carpet damage... ugh
Yes that can work, but in our experience it only lasts a little while until it leaks again, replacement usually solves the problem the first time around
Dude, we are the same person. It was leaking bad, and i just thought “let me youtube this real quick” and bam. Saw this video, facepalmed myself, and fixed the leak in minutes.
Hi Team. The video is very straightforward. I don't see a spot or an opening for the moen faucet To change the cartridge. Wish I could post the picture. Am I missing something
I hope you guys realize just how great is the service (help!) you are offering and how much better, i.e., more clear and better paced you are, than everyone else trying to do what you do. Thank you! We’re I to offer any advice at all…and you are so good it really isn’t necessary, but in your very obvious pursuit of perfection… a.) Use a better mic or bring it closer b.) Bring camera closer to each successive action…and this is important…let it linger there as you talk so amateurs like me can “connect the dots” along the way c.) Explain anything viewers might not have seen before, e.g., the under sink H and C water faucets that you turned off an on during this video. How did they work? It didn’t appear that they needed to be turned 360°. but instead seemed to “snap” somehow as if spring/loaded I can’t wait until something else breaks in my house so i will be able to ‘watch’ you fix it! Thanks again ! ! Bill Chicago
Our favorite comment to date!! a)Yes we definitely need a better setup than our phones b) can and will do c) we will try our best, putting our knowledge into easy to follow directions is actually kind of difficult. But with every video we try to do better Thx again for your thoughts
Dangggg ! I didn t even know what my cartridge looked like. I believe it s a Moen but I ll take it / match it up at a plumbing outlet. Looks easy enough. I thought it could be the O rings. Seems it s the old cartridge though that may be bad. Thanks much.
All I did was used silicon grease between gasket after I cleaned it and retighten the plastic bolt that you see at 1:12 . As the faucet is turned left right many times over time that plastic bolt comes loose and gasket looses contact. My gasket was in good condition so didn’t need replacing .
I believe our cartridge is clogged, we barely have any water coming out and we've already cleaned the aerator. Thank you for this video, I didn't want to spend the $170 to call a plumber. Going to try to do it myself after work. I'm assuming if I'm just cleaning it instead of replacing it, all I have to do is run it under some water? I'm hoping I don't have to open it up or something... I know next to nothing about this stuff, but since we just bought our first home I'm trying to learn as we run into things. This video was super helpful since it was the only one that showed a faucet like mine with the little hot/cold indicator, and how to get in to the cartridge.
After removing the set screw, what would keep the handle from coming off. I have replaced my cartridge several times and can never remember what has to be done besides remove the set screw.
Great video, but my question is how do I find out the make and model of the faucet to get the correct cartridge if needed? I see no markings (it's a 3 hole model- faucet, spray, and single lever for hot/cold ) and was put in by the builder 15 years ago.
If you dont know and cant see any markings and cant figure it by looking through google. You need to shut the water off to the faucet, take it apart and take the cartridge to your nearest plumbing supply or big box store and try and match the cartridge
Moen told me to replace the cartridge and orings on my single handle faucet due to leaking around the base. I have the handle and cartridge removed, but the faucet spout won't come off even when I lift and rotate it (it only lifts slightly). Suggestions? I may try just replacing the cartridge because I'm not getting anywhere with lifting the spout off.
I've got a Moen single lever faucet, not the same model, but this one has a small phillips head screw retaining the handle. Unfortunately the screw will not budge. Not even with an impact screwdriver. I'll have to drill it out or call a plumber!
Great video. I have that exact same Faucet the Moen Medina, it leaks at the base where the “O” ring is. Do you have a video on how to replace the “O” ring?
My faucet is leaking underneath the sink. I can tell that it's coming from the supply lines & not the sprayer line. Could a bad cartridge be the issue here?
I seen online somewhere where it said Moen parts are guaranteed for life. I think I'll buy the cartridge at home depot since it will probably take a while to get Moen to send that part. If they to send a replacement
I just want to add that you can put it in wrong. I followed your directions about the channels and didn’t realize that the holes also have to align. I had water spurting out because of it. Got it done though but had to towel dry my sink area.
If your Moen kitchen faucet is leaking or not performing as well as it used to, it may be time to change the cartridge. This is a relatively easy repair that anyone can do. Simply follow these steps and you'll have your kitchen faucet working like new in no time.
Long shot of a question, but I've removed the screw holding the handle in place but it won't come off. I suspect there might be some corrosion or something keeping the handle stuck to the cartridge section and thus unable to pull it apart. Any suggestions on how to loosen it up?
If the crew has been removed and the handle isn’t coming off, you’re just going to have to keep working at it and adding more force until it breaks free from the head of the cartridge. There isn’t anything holding it other than possibly corrosion.
@@FixinItRight Fair enough, I had read that some baking soda and vinegar or CLR could also help to break that corrosion down but thanks for the message guys. The video otherwise has been quite helpful!
I have a customer, this Thursday they are going to be on their third faucet. The old one leaked, I replaced Saturday, she just notified me that the new one leaks. Any ideas? I did notice a large spring on top of the new valve that wasn't on the old one. With the new valve, I made sure the nut was tight.. So I don't understand where the leak is coming from.
If the spring is there, make sure that the nut is tight, place the spring on top, replace handle, dap around base of faucet. It if leaks the go under the sink, it may be the connection point of the sprayer or the water supply stops. Please let me know and if possible some pictures. Feel free to send an email
I have a stripped screw were the Allen wrench a 7/64 should have easily removed. Now what.? I can't remove the handle to get to the cartridge. This job that should have been a few minutes is now all day and still not fixed. How am I going to remove the handle when the set screw is stripped.?
@@FixinItRight In my Moen faucet it was not an Allen screw or any kind of screw. If you draw a circle and put a dot at the center that's how it looks like. Thanks for the video. Very informative. Unfortunately I can't remove the handle.
I managed to replace the cartridge in my kitchen faucet but now, when I turn the water on, the handle very slowly drifts down. It actually shuts off if I let it go. Anyone have any idea what I've done wrong?
@@FixinItRight I got Moen tech support to tell me to wipe down the stem of the cartridge. That didn't work so they are sending me another cartridge and D-washer. They said two D-washers will sometimes help.

Yes, I understand that it is a new faucet, Moen had several units going out with a faulty retaining nut and later sent units out with a spring, if there is no spring then that is the issue new or not.
