      I am from near Lecce and I lived in Sicily, in Messina. Life is very different between the Lecce area and Sicily. It took me a long time to get used to it

    Thanks for sharing another great outing with your family, Ben. I would like to know if all Italian cities have a city square for people to gather in. The coffee, pastries, and gelato looked yummy.

      From my personal experience I would say yes in the major cities and larger towns they do.

    Aww jeez bro, that music in town made me feel like I was literally watching an old Fellini movie. Jeez.
    Actually I watched the video that came after this one maybe first, and now I'm going backwards. But my first thoughts are, your folks really made a groundbreaking decision! And in most cases people retire to SMALLER homes, so I have to believe they really are setting up the extended family to have a regular place to come in Europe. Because when I saw those bunk-beds I was like a minute, why? So, that many rooms, and so geared towards really little kids has to be for the family. So as I prepare for my move, to a neighboring country, with tons of intentions of many visits to Italy--I'm so happy your folks built a life where this is possible. Great examples. They've got to be master planners and "get it done" type people.
    If you haven't done so already, I hope you'll interview your folks to ask them things like; why the move from the US, why the move TO Italy, why that region. I think I heard you saw in the previous video there were lots of expats in that area. But I'd love to hear more about how they came to the decision, and the process. Thanks for sharing.

    Hello Ben, just found your video and channel. One question, how do your parents get around? I’ve been told Americans cannot own a car in Italy. Their home is beautiful!!

    • @bentravelstv
      @bentravelstv  7 місяців тому +2

      Hello and thanks for watching! You can own and drive a vehicle in Italy as an American. If you wish to obtain an Italian Drivers license you will need to know the language because the exam is in Italian. So my Parents have a international license that they use on an annual basis and they purchased their vehicle in Italy.

      I learned a little bit while traveling throughout Italy, mostly greetings. But if I were to move to Italy, I would without a doubt learn the language.
