Glad you’re back here with travel content. This region in Italy seems more interesting than the ones in Central Italy. Great job explaining this lesser known region.

Ostuni-Gallipoli-Monopoli-Polignano a Mare-Fasano-Lecce-Brindisi is my favourite triangle in puglia. Beautiful beaches, great food and drinks all provided by people that know how to live very close to heaven, while firmly rooted to their home soil.

Good job! I'm Italian and I live in Puglia. Good description. Puglia is a wonderful region and if you want you can also visit Trani- Barletta- grotte di castellana- Polignano-otranto- vieste and Gargano. If you like sea and white beach with a crystalline sea you have to stay in salento ( it's the area in the south of Puglia) expecially the area of Gallipoli.
    Good holiday in Puglia!

Puglia is a city of white square buildings, a large area, just glowing in the sun - very beautiful and distinctive.

But I wish you spoke more about where to go, where to eat, what to see, travel tips, where to park, etc.

Nothing unethical about Matera. You could say that about almost everywhere. Prior to 1900 most of the Western the world lived on less than a dollar a day in today’s terms. Extreme poverty was the way of the world until fairly recently.

I will be in Puglia starting September 26 for one month.
So far I have reserved an Airbnb in Bari for 3 nights.
I am looking for inexpensive places to stay in some of the other cities. I won't have a car unless I decide to rent one.
Do I need an international driver's license?

Thanks for this, I'm heading to Puglia next week. But.. you certainly are from USA to call that a 'compact car' :) I'd love to rent a car but I'm used to driving on the other side and I don't want to practice 'the wrong way around' in small streets... so I'll be taking a lot of trains :)

As someone from the area, the description of Matera is very depressing and ridiculous…I mean, ethical implication? Do you know that the entire country was at was at some point, and got destroyed like most of Europe? Is this what you think of when you wonder in the streets of Rome? Come on…

    • @jimmoliterni4195

Totally agree. One sided, ignorant, young American opinion, without much true understanding of history and the advancements that we've all enjoyed in the world.

    • @MatvejSilberstein
      @MatvejSilberstein День тому

@FedeDiver1 What he said was correct. Just because you do not like the history, doesn't make it false to say it out loud.
The "ethical implications" comment you seem to take issue with is whether or not it's right to go marvel at how people used to live in squalor. And they did live in squalor.
"As a person who....." isn't an argument; everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Your depiction of Matera ('depressing, very sad, unethical') in the 1950s-1960's is very much over the top dramatic. Educate yourself before you talk about people and regions you obviously know very little about. A typically American (young) point of view.
