I was diagnosed just a couple of months after you were Michelle. I have a colostomy for life. It upset me at first, but now I'm so used to it that it doesn't bother me at all. I'm 5 years cancer free now, there is no sign of a return of the cancer. It's a heavy diagnosis to accept at the time, but what could I do about it but take things one step at a time. A calm head, good support from friends and family make the journey so much easier. I went through some silent panic times, learned to laugh and keep my mind busy with positive things. I watched a lot of movies... comedies, and listened to music; I found music to be very healing to the soul. Thanks for your concise, informative and authentic videos. I was seven when my grandfather age 60 died off colon ca. My father was diagnosed at age 35, my brother died 9 yrs ago at age 61, he did not do screenings.Knowing my family history I asked for a colonoscopy when I turned 40. Drs did not take me seriously and minimized my risks. I was screened at 50 yo and had 6 adenomas removed. I routinely get screened every 3 years. My GI Dr. scolded me for not getting screened at 40! He has advised my kids to first screen at age 35. All this to say you are correct that the medical team around you is key. If you aren’t comfortable with the advice you get,search for a second opinion. Again thank you for sharing your journey. You are saving lives!

I lost my husband two years ago from terminal liver cancer, I was devastated by his loss after treatment and such a battle, it was always terminal, there was no surgery just chemo, which was viciously merciless in its affect on him. My stomach has been so off for months. Constipation to diarrhea to excessive gas. Have cancelled 2 gastro appts because I am scared to hear. I am now told they won’t see me. I have shared my story in a previous post. Everything you said is dead on. People even if you have no symptoms get your colonoscopy at fifty. I had no symptoms and waited until fifty two which led to my cancer spreading to my liver. So I had two surgeries first to have half my liver removed and second to remove the tumor from my colon. By the grace of God I ended up with two of the top surgeons in their fields and that and faith led to me being cancer free for ten years. 21:47

@@BigValleyLiving You know I really have not. I am diabetic so I do have to control my carb intake so I’m don’t go crazy on things but I do enjoy good food in moderation. My boss however has thyroid cancer and he is on a Keto diet and it has helped him tremendously. Cancer feeds off of glucose and you need to starve it. But again sensible eating is good in general for your health.

Thank you, and I am SO glad you didn’t settle for the “lite” test. My primary physician told me that the smear and mail test is less than 70% correct. That is a lot of potential missed opportunities to prevent early cancer!

I added a comment on one of your videos a few weeks ago encouraging people to do a colonoscopy. I did mine and she found squamous cell cancer, a small anal cancer, very rare is what Google says. The doctor wants me to do radiation and chemo. I've watched other videos, not your videos, and they say that it is hard to treat and it just keeps coming back. My family have had problems with colon problems, no cancer tho. My Uncle had a colostomy and he lived through hell with it. No matter how much you clean your house it still smells like poo. Why can't the dr just cut it out?? The videos say it would lead to a colostomy. You have gone through a hell of a lot and your still here encouraging people how to deal with colon cancer. I pray your journey has a happy ending. I feel in my soul that I have colon cancer. I've had 4 colonoscopies'. . My lectra lights have started going haywire when i do the prepare. I lost so much blood from my bowels that I had 2 blood transfusions. iron put into my veins , That's not fun. It looks like mud with gold flecks in it. It has to be pushed very slowly.I was given 2 procedures where they went in through my mouth. That's not where my problem is. I had another terrible bleeding out my rectum a few weeks ago. My anus hurts so bad, I can not sit on it. I can not drink GoLightly. All the other fluids did not clean me out. Only made me throw-up & have chills, even faint.For the past month, I've had no bowel movements. Sorry my post is so long. It only covers about half of what happens to my body from the fluids they make me drink. You are in my prayers. Sleep with the Angels. 🕊

I have a question for you. I’m in remission from stage lV colon cancer, but my cea levels have spiked and now we are doing tests again. Did your oncologist also check your cea for reoccurrence?
Denise, yes, I have to get a baseline CEA later this week. Usually, when mine has recurred, it started with rising CEA levels. My oncologist is going to check my levels every six weeks when I go in for port-a-cath flushes. Next CT scan in six months, unless CEA levels rise.
