- [Edit: New song from my band I'd love you to check out! song.link/t8b645v48dpmw]
Another amazing band: The White Stripes! There's a lot to say about these two, as always, and since I have promised weekly videos and didn't want to rush through the rest of the band's career, this is Part 1 of 2 on the Stripes. Covered here is the story of the group's formation all the way up to the release of White Blood Cells, just before they blew up.
All the fun that came after will be covered in next week's video!
I can't find the second part on this channel or anywhere, was it taken down?
I’ve reuploaded it a few times, but some are blocked in some regions and some you need a direct link now:
Here’s the original: ua-cam.com/video/PJo03mrAyIM/v-deo.html
The most recent edit: ua-cam.com/video/VrPJT2zMBAg/v-deo.html
Hopefully one of those works for you!
Edit: I can’t watch the original now either. The most recent link works for me. I’ll make sure that link is public.
@@MeetTheBand yeah, that second one works for me as well, thanks

I believe they do go above top 40. I miss that band.
"we're not gonna be playing arenas or anything like that" cut the scene and then they release Seven Nation Army which probably even some alien in a distant galaxy has heard of it and know the riff hahaha
the fact that jack took meg's last name is one of my favourite things ever
i let it slide given that it works as a much better stage name; however, i've almost always considered it an L when a man takes his wife's last name, especially a so called Catholic man.
One of the greatest bands of the 21st century
Absolutely!
One of the most underrated bands in my eyes. Theyre up there with Floyd and Zeppelin.
Definitely!!! I don't know if there'll be another band like them. Meg White is awesome. Watching from London UK. #RIPJohnPeel
Facts
Yeah cause they had one hit
Blackpool Lights is by far the best live version of “Death Letter”
One of my favourite bands. Meg White is a goddess.
Are you kidding? Their song has been the game ending song the crowd chants, sings,or hums, when the Raven's put "the hay in the barn"!..
The fact only two ppl can make a band and be successful is nuts to me. I hope to be like that with someone
Great vid man really enjoying there’s isn’t really any other channel that has a video this in depth about the stripes
Great vid! One of my favorite bands of all time, can't wait for part 2
If they were ur favorite band you would’ve did your own research
You're teaching me Lot about my favorite band! I can't wait for pt. 2! Keep up the good work!
That's great to hear! Thanks for watching.
Feel you brudda mayne
Awesome video! Huge white stripes fan and been in love with Meg since early 2004
The new King of rock and roll, and his Queen.
Very well done video! Many Thanks!!
I was that 300 lb man who walked into his living room....and the rest, as they say, is history.
God bless Jack and Meg!!! ❤🤍🖤
Jack looks like Johnny Depp mixed with River Phoenix
More like Michael Cera dressed up as Johnny Depp
They caught my attention really quick.
One of my favourite bands ever up there with Nirvana and Oasis and I guess they never had the emotional impact of those bands I wish they were up there with them but just lacked a few more classics.
Finally mom just hid the red bird peppermints from Meg, she would eat the entire bucket while hiding in my room, so it was a no brainer to name the band after Megs obsession with the stuff.
They were great!
Just found this channel and am subscribed.
Great vid
Meg 😫❤️
The White Stripes proves there is hope for rock n roll
The drumming makes the band
When the wife began hitting the snare drum in that part in Seven Nation Army... um, hello!
I'm 28 years old thought they were brothers and sisters
That was the "mythology" when we were kids. No one knew for sure. Internet wasn't sophisticated enough yet to be trustworthy (still isn't lol). And we weren't old enough for our parents to allow us to use it with free reign non the less! But now major publications and public statements have confirmed obviously etc.
They are
@@chinatype2bassrocker809 no they are not
Nope lol
@@kcmichelson4528 as far as I know they thought it was funny so they didn't correct anyone.
we need 10 parts or a movie....
Yesss
Thank you for this video. 🇮🇳
They have a very interesting story. Here's wishing Meg good vibes.
The gold dollar bar looks like it's seen better days
Bobsled is from my town!
Will they ever play arenas? They’re played in arenas at football arenas the world round with Seven Nation Army. Oh my I love these guys.
Love it!
Este Album...todos mi flllipppa
Jack White on Saturday Night Live are you kidding me? He looks the same age he's got to be chameleon like.. or the Seven Nation Army
What an amazing performance, right?
Meg reminds me of Wednesday Adams
MEG IS COOL! SO IS WEDNESDAY ADAMS!
Where can I find the interview where Jack talks about the drunk man and stuff? Or what is it called?
Does anyone know where he got the clip where he’s talking about a 300 pound drunk guy
I don't understand why he went to Cass Tech when he grew up on Ferdinand St and that's close to Western High School.
Jack: Guitar
Meg:
quarter notes
Hotel Yorba was the first song I saw on mtv. Now, I'd heard of them on Guitar Magazine, but dismissed them for being called punk (I like some punk, but am not a disciple). Then my brother turned me onto The White Stripes - White Blood Cells album, and I became a fan.
The stripes are punk as fuck my dude. Not in sound (well not completely at least), but in attitude. I want to say that's what the guitar magazine's meant back in the day.
I grew up on punk rock and the DIY ethics. And so as a 14 year old obsessed with punk rock, discovering a band like the stripes, who are from your home town more or less, is a powerful thing.
Its very easy to see why they are sometimes called a punk rock band.
I mean, technically garage rock IS punk rock. Just from before it was called punk.
Long tangent I went on there.
Long story short. The white stripes kick ass and genres aren't important haha
They're not punk they're a mix of garage rock and blues. At a glance you would think punk tho. But technically punk and garage rock are 2 different things.
What is the background music?
Dammit. I want to see part 2 but it’s blocked! Gotta make another!
It’s blocked in many places because I used a clip of the Hardest Button To Button music video. I should’ve done this sooner, but I will edit that part out and reupload Part 2 since so many people are asking about it!
Meet The Band thanks!

Why did Jack call Meg his sister? I just now found out they were married
Any other way to watch part 2 or is it just gone
Hey Brady! Part 2 was just re-uplaoded: ua-cam.com/video/fQym4L8U6I4/v-deo.html
333rd like. Jack would be proud

Does anyone know where the "and that's Why i'm the one playing the drums" bit is from?
Should be in here somewhere near the beginning: ua-cam.com/video/MVL5ylN3ffY/v-deo.html
Haha to those who assumed they were Brother + Sister you are wrong, it was a lyric to their final song on their Album Elephant. They were Husband and wice until 2011,
Meg sings on that song too, but the ‘love Jack White like a little brother’ line is Holly Golightly who is guesting on that track.
Actually they divorced sometime shortly after their second album around 2000 and 2001. Also the rumor that they were brother and sister was started by Jack when they formed the band. He wanted it to distract his audience from thinking they were just another white boy blues band. When in actuality this band was built on the blues.
They were married in 1996 divorced 2000.
what song was played in the beginning
Blue Orchid. And that performance is Live In The Basement
They divorced on the exact date that I was born
Funny how there was no mention of jack’s original band. The Upholsterers!

Part 2 can't be viewed in the US :(

They dont plan to plan to play on arenas, they just want soccer fans to chant 7 nation army on arenas
Why did them two never had
Kids ??
being from detroit and having lived in the netherlands for a goodly amount of time, i feel inclined to suggest you might want to investigate the pronunciation of "de stijl".
it might well enhance any number of people's ,knowledge as well as your own journalistic pursuits. look outside wayne county, think DUTCH.
It’s De ‘Style’ right? I somehow went through all my years of White Stripes fandom without hearing anyone say the name of their second album out loud, including years working at a record store! At least I didn’t go for “de stidguhl.” Thanks for watching.
I usually don't like dudes taking the ladies name but in this case they had too. Can you imagine if they were called "The Gillis Stripes".
K yo lo he visto muchas veces.
Así todos aprendemos ingles

Meet The Band thank you! I saw your explanation further down in the comments. I’ll keep an eye out for part 2! 🤗

Meet The Band will do! Thank you!

fucking solid video. pros: exceptional editing , good writing and storytelling, cons: you're voice is a little monotone, it's hard to break out of but it's possible to improve
Thanks! I'm glad you like the editing, cause I'm still trying to figure out Adobe Premiere.
I agree about the voiceover. The problem is that I'm not used to talking to a computer like it's a person yet. My last video was just a quick little update and I sounded a little more human, but when I'm reading information from a script I wrote I seem to revert back to a robot.
That is something I'm keeping in mind though and hopefully that will get better soon. Thanks for watching!
@@MeetTheBand talking into a computer takes real skill, everyone always thinks "i could do voice overs" or "i could be a voice actor" but in reality it takes allot of practice to talk into a mic and not go monotone. i'm sure you'll improve soon enough though

your wrong about the gold dollar performance in 1997, the white stripes didnt have any music in 1997. the show was in 2001. if u dont believe me check the white stripes channel. and also their first live performance was in 2000 at the Jays Upstairs.
Their first show was an open mic night at the Gold Dollar in ‘97. Third Man Records even released an official recording of this show a few years back: ua-cam.com/video/xuby1lKMzko/v-deo.html
They didn’t have any originals for that first show, but they played 3 covers.
They definitely played there again in 2001, but Jack played the Gold Dollar a lot with other bands before TWS and multiple times with Meg. Their first 3 shows as TWS were all at the Gold Dollar.
And there’s at least a dozen live performances on record from before 2000. They played Jay’s Upstairs the week they released their second full length album. So that’d be pretty late to start performing live!
Thanks a lot for watching!
K pronunciacion
Wait. They aren't brother and sister?
Nope! Ex-spouses though
@@MeetTheBand I wish I knew where I got that idea but I've believed them too be siblings for a long time. There relationship atleast from my point of view seemed more platonic than of that of being lovers. It's taken a long time too discover the truth. Thx for posting.
@@countryboy2368 Well they would say they were siblings to kind of get the focus off of their personal lives. I discussed that a little in the beginning of Part 2 I believe. ua-cam.com/video/PJo03mrAyIM/v-deo.html
Oh so they're not brother and sisters?
Meg 😍 😘
Fucking sucks that Warner Media Group blocked Part 2! Like guys it’s basically free publicity that’ll generate more listeners to their music. Geesh!
And they already have the revenue from any ads that would be on that video. So I don’t understand why they would block it. And what they’re claiming is mostly the video content because I showed a snippet of Hardest Button To Button because I think that music video is so good.
What country are you located if you don’t mind me asking? Because the views for part two dropped a lot in the past month but it isn’t zero so must not be blocked everywhere.
Meet The Band I’m in Puerto Rico which is a US territory but it’s tricky. For the longest time a lot of content on the internet was blocked because we were seen as a foreign country. Now it’s much less but it still happens from time to time. I haven’t had that issue on UA-cam for a while though. So you might be right. Maybe it’s not blocked everywhere. That video is so good though!
@@racoonzattack Glad you liked this one! Part 2 is back up now: ua-cam.com/video/fQym4L8U6I4/v-deo.html
If you like The White Stripes you might like us! They influence the shit out of our music! @deadmarthas!
THEY WILL NEVER SAY IT THEY TOOK THEIR COLOR SCHEME FROM STRYPER YELLOW AND BLACK (ATTACK) BUT THEY WILL NEVER ADMIT IT
Why would it matter?
Fortunately they didn't copy their music.
@@zivkovicable You mean or of the greatest bands to have ever lived? Everyone if their last 5 albums could win metal album of the year award.....Stryper still kicking ass...the striped essentially a one hit wonder. Also Stryper influenced many great bands..... nothing came from their genre. FACTS....now running a long
*I'm calling it now.*
They won't make it.
They'll never play arenas.
They'll never have a top 40 hit.
The White Who?
Ironically, I love The White Stripes, but I do NOT love Seven Nation Army. I think it’s possibly the worst song in their catalog; I don’t know why people love it. There’s so many other songs in their discography that are awesome.
You should work on your voice if you wanna do more of this kinda videos. It's not really a pleasure to listen to your tone
😆 I always thought they were brother and sister
