Your right, grand ol time to be a lad!,..just turned 40 on 18th Oct, the day b4 P. Jams Animals in 93 i turned 17,...great times. I was readin your comment well N good, but welled up at the end man! Addiction, Mental health, extreme loneliness i cannot speak to ANYONE without exploding into a bubbling weak-ass, it makes me feel depressed more to realise i cant even talk bout how i feel daily dude!
Thanks for your reply brother. I assume you have or are battling the disease of addiction? The first step is always to talk about it, it is a way to seek help and also find out your not alone in this. That is what has always helped me, as much as i hate those local meetings they are what kept me alive. They allowed me a place to go when temptation was high and to hear other peoples stories were similar to mine and i wasn't the freak i thought i was. Something needs to change in this society to wake up and help our own, there's an epidemic like we have never seen and so many good life's are lost daily. So much I want to say here but each person needs to first make that decision they are sick and tired of being sick and tired and face that huge fear of becoming clean and sober and believe me i know its the scariest thing you will ever face! and then seek help cause help more than likely isn't gonna find you, and when you have become clean and sober never forget where you came from and it only takes one time to get right back there even worse, make the choice to live, because if you don't stop you will end up 1. dgranite50 Hi man, thanks for the wee message bro, much appreciated!! yeah im in the midst of quite a severe dope habit mate! Ive been doing drugs most of my life, started with the usual, Marijuana/ Hash at bout 13ish, then onto LSD, Amphetamines, XTC & Trax,..Valium, Temazepam, Xanax, Nitrazepam etc, etc! Got into a bit of everything by age 17. But i didnt start with Opiates till bout 19/20ish man!! The one drug thats really robbed me of years N years is the Heroin though bro! Even the Freebase Cocaine, as powerful as it is hasn't took a toll on my health as much as the Smack dude! Being put on a prescription of Valium N Methadone by age 21 wasn't such a good thing to happen, as good & helpful as it seemed at the time man. I have been clean B4, and i think i'll do it again bud its just its been a hell of a few years, especially losing a few close family members in quick succession! This was my "Cop-Out", once i started using again i just seemed to lose any pep i had for hobbies & life in general matey. I just need to get a hold of things again, but Good-God its a hard life at times mate1 As im sure you'll know??, again i just want to say a BIG thanks for your kind, sagee words of wisdom sir, REALLY appreciated indeed dude!! Shit bro i just wrote out a long ass reply and somehow erased it, ha. But basically was saying No problem and always want to help out anyway I can. I can relate in all aspects of your situation, Tried and done everything, and likewise wasn't till opiates that i found the one to rob everything from me including my soul, leaves you nothing but a shell of a man and merely existing. I have had and made up every excuse also for why i used or couldn't stop. I would be glad to exchange email or whatever if you would like some info. or just to b.s.Hope to find you well and was gonna ask if you all have a Suboxone or Subutex Program over there? I did read you tried the Methadone with Benzos like Valium and wasn't successful, I tried that also but am a bigger fan of Suboxone as long as it is accompanied by some counseling or intensive outpatient program at least. I dont believe either Suboxone or Methadone should just be prescribed or dosed without more involvement. This is a very complicated disease my friend that we cant fight on our own and need professional help, to help us understand our addictions from a medical and psychological aspect and deal with any underlying mental, physical issues from past or present and the program makes us take some accountability for ourselves and actions. It's a "medicated" chance to get off the smack for awhile and takes away 90%+ withdrawals and that "Itch", in the back of your mind you always get to use again. If that doesn't seem to work, next suggestion if practical financially in any way for ya is to check into Inpatient treatment, if its gonna take getting away from your surrounding environment, and people, using friends, and i use the word" Friends" loosely in that as majority, if not all of them don't have your best interest and thats part of the scary part is when you finally decide to do this and be successful long-term you Have to change all those things, your environment.... places you go.... cut ties to using friends and for me that meant everyone i knew, you feel more alone then ever doing it, but believe me if you reach out to the Recovery meeting or places in your area, they welcome you in and will accept you and majority will have your best interest, and that feels amazing and you build a new group of friends that you only hang out with when you got dough or drugs. alright I'm gonna shutup now, haha. And btw my dads side of the family is from Scotland, grandfather's from Galasheils I believe and have cousins still there, but a few have moved to Australia as I'm sure you have known a few too also. Peace to u N yours also.. Take care...
Sikpuppy Hey mate, Just wanna start by saying a big sorry 4 the lateness in my reply man, been a bit hectic recently dude!! But thanks for the friendly words of advice brother,..mucho appreciated indeed sir!! Seems were quite alike, tried, done & used EVERY excuse 4 EVERY illicit substance dude??!!,..lol!! Like you say, its the Opiates that seem to take their toll on me, well anybody who uses 4 years anyhoo man!, and yeah, your also correct it just leaves a husk of your former self mate!! Oh, yeah, i've heard of Suboxone/ Subutex thing, i know a few folk who've used em in the past & they do seem to have more success than other Opioids such as Methadone, Dihydrocodeine etc, etc man. But i've been on Meth for 18+ years now & as horrid as it is i dunno if i could switch over??, its become such a "safety blanket" so ta speak mate. It takes the chaoticness outta my life, if that makes any sense ta ya bro??,...No cramps, aching limbs, vomiting, sniffles, hot N cold flushes etc, etc!! It is extremely counter productive, being on a Methadone/Valium script but still blasting myself to "smacksville, UK" whenever i get the chance dude,..lol,..lol!!, i know i shouldn't laugh but, hey, as i aye say if you dont laugh you'll cry ma man. Also when it comes to the old routine & old mates thing thats not really an issue as TBH i dont see anyone at all from my old days bro, all my mates are worse off than me drug/ health-wise, no veins due to shooting incorrectly, using crack all day,..every day, stealing, lying, robbing etc,..or in jail, but the lads i went bout with also got long - time girlfriends, well if they can be classed as girlfriends??!! Their away off with other dudes as soon as the money becomes scarce, or a "better" drug user comes on the scene!!, then, benefit/money day their back together & full of part-time love,..lol!!,..madness!! Tbh mate, i'd much rather be on my own, at least i know where & who i stand with!! Me & my brother were VERY, VERY close all our lives but he's now with a girlfriend & doing their own thing so after years of us being inseparable i'm on my own, rattling around a 3 bedroom house mate! The isolation & boredom usually mean several things to me,...drugs, oblivion & numbness dude! Like i say i was clean not too long ago, like a year past last summer, as in the summer of 2015 i was running almost a half marathon daily,..mon - fri, around 62/63 miles per week. As well as my fishing, cycling & just getting out & about as i had money in my pockets etc!, so hopefully i can get outta this lifestyle & be more productive again mate! A, ha,..Galashiels??, i've had many a crazy night out their on the bevy in the past, i stay in Penicuik bro, just up the road really!! Where i stay is known as the "Lothian & the Borders" region & Gala is the borders Penicuik is the biggest town in Midlothian,..lol!! Also 1 of my older brothers stays in Peebles & another of my brothers used to stay in Innerleithen,..these 2 towns are part of the Borders along with Jedburgh, Hawick, which are very close to Galashiels dude,..lol,...Penicuiks only about 45 mins in the car from Gala, small world!! I know quite a few folk from Gala, like i say some mad - ass capers down that way on the booze, LSD, XTC, Amphetamines, Mushrooms etc, etc, etc as a younger lad,..lol,..lol!! Again thanks for your sage, kind words & sorry again for the late reply sir!! Regards & warmest wishes fi Scotland, UK bro,..Pete!!
kgur Chris and Layne were on two different leagues above everyone else. Nothing can beat early Chris Cornell, like take for example beyond the wheel live in 1990 I think it was it’s just amazing. Check it out if you haven’t seen it. But then what can beat Love hate love live at the Moore. 2 different but both insanely talented singers. I’m writing this on the 5th of April, 18 years ago Layne died. RIP Layne. RIP Chris.
Listening to this with some headphones at full volume, it definitely shook the the room. There's a pitch he hits in that scream that makes every mic in the room go nuts. It's insane.
I have been watching all his vídeos along UA-cam and i cant believe that. Year after year, to end in the Unplugged, looking terrible but singing like he was, one of the best voices in fucking history!!
Lifeless dead, that unclean bed Till or when her hunger's fed How he'd wished that they would wed "I promise on our love" she said Promises were never kept Alone on dirty floor he slept Yeah, Lifeless Dead And although he'd not accept She was gone and so he wept Then a demon came to him "You must know I'm gonna win" Yeah, Lifeless Dead He said, she said She led him dead He said we bled She said not fed Lifeless Dead, Lifeless Dead (x7)
R.I.P Layne and his beloved Demri! My favorite Mad Season song. " Alone on dirty floor he slept...","Then a demon came to him, you must know I'm gonna win" lyrics that cut deep to my heart & soul! Soulless trash gets airplay for the youth of today. Sad. Turn everyone you can on to Layne Staley if they haven't been already! Especially our youth!! Save a life. Seriously.
Sounds dumb, but Layne's got me through some rough times, whenever it seems too much and I feel like ripping my fucking hair out, I can always throw on some Mad Season or Alice, somehow Layne's voice calms me down. These songs are like the soundtrack to my life
I'm a only a teenager so I never got to see him live or anything, but one day my dad introduced me to his music and it was one of the most amazing things I ever heard.I love all of the grunge music!!!
There is no Difference where Layne Sings.....Be it the Studio or Live...His Voice is Unmatched & Unquestionable......Lost A Real Great Front Man & a Good Soul...RIP Layne....I will listen to your songs till Last Breath & pass it to my Next Generation.....
I try to ignore the ignorant!! When I see those thumbs down .. I can't ignore it! Who would come to a Mad Season video and thumbs down it?? I think jealous people would! Because Layne was kicking ass in Mad Season after he kicked Ass in AIC! 😇💞RIP LAYNE!
I know there are many songs this dude sand that showed his raw singing talent. But this song is perfect for him. I know you could say that about most or all the others, but damn.
I had to really try and figure out if this was like a DVD where they retouched some stuff. It's hard to believe someone can sound this good live, but you gotta believe it.
Happy 50th birthday Layne Staley. Havent stopped listening to your career works for the past 2-1/2 years straight. I could listen to you an you alone till the end of time. You are an will always be the best there ever was. Rest in peace my friend.
I bought this CD not long after it's release in 1995. Brings back great memories of late nights at bars, beer, darts and lots of girls. Haha. This song was an ear worm I could not get rid of for many months. It's that riff... 🎸 And Layne Staley had a VERY unique voice.
Its awesome how videos can capture moments in time forever, we are actually pretty lucky, 100 years ago this was not an option, and that was really not that long ago
1:21. the feeling of his voice coursing through my body in the speakers was intense, and i could only imagine what it was like in real life. one of the best fucking vocalists even though he was heavily suffering here. love you layne
Hell yeah. No matter my mood, if I'm down n out Layne's voice helps. If I had an awesome day, he makes it awesomer. I know that's not a word but certainly felt right.
Layne's music with both Mad Season & AIC will always be some of my favorite all time. It means even more to me these days because his music helped me stay sane when I had my own struggles with opiates for a few years, and still helps me after 3+ years clean. Always thought this album was definitely some of Layne's best work, partly because he had total creative freedom writing all the lyrics and everything. The entire band was great though, definitely one of the best/most innovative albums of the past 20+ years. It's crazy because if you look at reviews of this album from Rolling Stone/AllMusic/etc. pretty much all of them give pretty negative reviews.. Yet the ratings by normal people online are pretty much all 5 stars. Most of these "professional" music critics wouldn't know good music if it slapped them in the face lol.
FUCKIN POWER!! This gotta be one of my favorite songs. From the badass riff to Laynes power belting out the chorus . God how i wish Layne had pulled through like Frusciante. I miss him so much, such a brutally sad end.
Idk what it is about the guitar when Layne started singing and the drums coming back in but the groove is so enticing man I love this performance way better than the album version
i can't express how thankful i am to legacy and everyone involved with this release, i will def get the deluxe package through amazon. Layne Staley was a god.
i cry every night because ill never meet my hero rest easy Layne, i love your music, and you as a person. such a beautiful soul with such scabbed wings truely and abused muse
He was an active working musician for about 10 years or so, but Layne left a very long shadow. Such a great and powerful singer despite of the massive heroin problem (hence the gloves to hid the hand track marks). Still one of the best singers of our time. I was lucky to have seen Alice in Chains open for Van Halen in 1991 right before they released "Dirt" and became a huge band.
goddamn. This camera quality is 20 years ahead of its time.

I know the audience tends to focus on McCready and Staley, but that rhythm section is so locked. That groove kills.

BINGO! That's why they formed the band.
good point. however, it's hard to find fault admiring Layne & Mike do their thing. whole unit fuckin rocks
Yes sir. Straight in the pocket and grooving.
WORD
The 90's had so many great bands , we were so spoiled and didn't even realize it .
Alicemudgarden90 AIC are still rocking.
True story
Has nothing to do with being spoiled, just the fact that artists in that time lived life outside of their bedrooms, read books, and studied facts.
The industry was very different and recording was done in a studio not a laptop with affordable and efficient corrective software. Most modern artists are photoshopped versions of their true untalented selves....back then, you had to be the real McCoy!
Oh I realized it. I realize it even more now that I'm older..but, that is, generally, how you discover great music: it stands the tests of time.

Hey mate, Just wanna start by saying a big sorry 4 the lateness in my reply man, been a bit hectic recently dude!!
If you witnessed this live, you are blessed. R.I.P Layne.
RIP John Saunders. Same demise.
Oh god , the riff of the guitar on this song its just... AMAZING!
The amazing Mike McCready!!!
Elad Franklin that dude was also perfection during that concert. they all really were.
layne,Andrew, Chris rip
Sounds like the bassline in Freedom by Ratm. However its really good.
That riff is killer. I wish i could play like that. He makes it look easy. Is this song about Laynes girl Demri?
Not a cell phone in sight.... miss those days.
No one sings like Layne.
except Mighty Chris Cornell..
kgur Chris and Layne were on two different leagues above everyone else. RIP Layne. RIP Chris.
@@kgur nah
@@kgur layne is unique bud
Chris Cornell has left the chat😭
Look at the bassist behind Layne at 1:22 .. completely impressed with his voice man.. so fucking Awesome
His voice must of shook and resonated throughout his whole body!!!
that is John Baker Saunders, great bassist but unfortunately he passed 4 years after this show
@@dazolty141truly an underrated bassist too. RIP John and Layne.
@@clover5668 in a interview with mad seasons drummer , the guy said laynes voice was so powerful he can hear his voice coming out of his chest
Listening to this with some headphones at full volume, it definitely shook the the room. There's a pitch he hits in that scream that makes every mic in the room go nuts. It's insane.
Unmistakable voice.
Rhys051777 Yes it is. The best too.
I can't help but notice. everything Layne sings kicks butt!!
Really does
Sounded unhealthy and weak but cool in unplugged.
@@loganstriker2973 Not really, chorus had tons of power. How much power would you have added to it?
It's amazing, you can see he's not well..but his voice never failed him...What a Fantastic singer...
I have been watching all his vídeos along UA-cam and i cant believe that. Year after year, to end in the Unplugged, looking terrible but singing like he was, one of the best voices in fucking history!!
Lifeless dead, that unclean bed
Till or when her hunger's fed
How he'd wished that they would wed
"I promise on our love" she said
Promises were never kept
Alone on dirty floor he slept
Yeah, Lifeless Dead
And although he'd not accept
She was gone and so he wept
Then a demon came to him
"You must know I'm gonna win"
Yeah, Lifeless Dead
He said, she said
She led him dead
He said we bled
She said not fed
Lifeless Dead, Lifeless Dead (x7)

Have to wonder was this about Demri
@@xxjlamariexx yes it's about Demri
She is heroine
This has got to be about Demri
The darkness is so prevalent,U CAN FEEL EVERYTHING AND EVERY SINGLE EMOTION HE LENDS TO U
Seriously.
Barrett is THE sea-town drummer we never we knew we needed.... You know the rest. Mad Season is the pinnacle of Seattle rock of the 90s. Period.
I seriously can't stop smiling when I see him. ;)
Sounds dumb, but Layne's got me through some rough times, whenever it seems too much and I feel like ripping my fucking hair out, I can always throw on some Mad Season or Alice, somehow Layne's voice calms me down.
These songs are like the soundtrack to my life
I hear ya! Me too! So for me, I've got to hear him every day to distract my anger...lol
MADAICCHICK 90's rocked Pretty much the same sometimes
Same here man Layne's voice keeps me from getting really angry.
Dylan Arnold I'm sure he'd be glad to know that !!!
I'm a only a teenager so I never got to see him live or anything, but one day my dad introduced me to his music and it was one of the most amazing things I ever heard.I love all of the grunge music!!!
Layne was the best rock singer of all time. Great song. Great performance by all. This is a classic song.
Damn.....can you imagine how dark it must've looked in that room with those sunglasses layne was rocking..
+One Man 1970 Layne was in touch with The Force. He doesn't need vision.
+m0t0rcade LMAO!
doubt his eyes were open anyways
+m0t0rcade well said
+Amy Cohen indeed no, for sure he was so inspired and floating over the inner power
Truly the deepest most felt SINGER IVE EVER inclined my ears to every song is FELT
One of the most underrated riffs of all time!
What a lucky crowd to be in Layne's presence.
Barret's drumming is amazing, everyone is amazing love Mad Season!! RIP Layne Staley 😇 and John Baker Saunders 😇🤘❤️.
Such a shame they only made one album together - one of the best albums I own - still love it to this day!
barrett absolutely destroyed those drums, god i love it.
the drums.... amazing!!
im sayin
2:46 just makes my dick hard.
Barret martin rules
This is just otherworldly. On repeat for several lifetimes.
There is no Difference where Layne Sings.....Be it the Studio or Live...His Voice is Unmatched & Unquestionable......Lost A Real Great Front Man & a Good Soul...RIP Layne....I will listen to your songs till Last Breath & pass it to my Next Generation.....
The HD quality of whis show tricks me into thinking that Layne is still with us. Oh, how I wish...
i feel sorry for those 8 people that gave this a thumbs down
I try to ignore the ignorant!! When I see those thumbs down .. I can't ignore it! Who would come to a Mad Season video and thumbs down it?? I think jealous people would! Because Layne was kicking ass in Mad Season after he kicked Ass in AIC! 😇💞RIP LAYNE!
MADAICCHICK 90's rocked Like some other poster I saw said on an AIC vid, anyone who thumbs down Layne Staley is a fuckin stooge
+jhall0162 Yes! Unaware they shall spend their sad lives... lifeless dead.
+jhall0162 I'm not sure if I feel sorry for them, its hard to feel sorry for moron's!
must have heavy thumbs
Amazing..Layne Staley had vocals of an angel!!!... Speechless..
One of The Best live concert ever.

Amazing band as a whole, f'ing great songs and musicianship, way underrated. RIP Layne & Baker. Bittersweet but thank God we have this.
Today is Layne's Birthday!
He would do 52 years old!
See you in heaven!
He was a God...What could have been having Layne around to continue amazing all of us.
So fucking good. dark nasty riff layne with the killer vocals yyeeeeaaahhhhh
Layne's voice is like a ghost, thrilling and shivering
RIP Layne... such a beautiful voice.
Its awesome how videos can capture moments in time forever, we are actually pretty lucky, 100 years ago this was not an option, and that was really not that long ago
Omg...please can I time warp and be at this show!!! Pleaseeeee...Layne in my opinion is the best singer I ever heard! He takes control of your soul.
I would sell my soul all my body organs if I could go back in time and watch this live. 💔
This is such an incredible live performance. I am blown away every single time I watch this video, no matter how many times it's been.
Genius guitar player..Shadow,Temple of the dog,Pearl Jam,Mad season..Mike you are beyond underrated!!
Mcreadys guitar playing is madly underrated and rarely talked about imo
Barret kills it here!
I love the energy he puts into his drumming
0:02 Spiderman was in the audience.
1:21. the feeling of his voice coursing through my body in the speakers was intense, and i could only imagine what it was like in real life. one of the best fucking vocalists even though he was heavily suffering here. love you layne
OMG, Mike's playing and Layne's voice 😍😍😍😍😍🎶🎶🎶🎶🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hell yeah. No matter my mood, if I'm down n out Layne's voice helps. If I had an awesome day, he makes it awesomer. I know that's not a word but certainly felt right.
Layne is the awesomest awesome singer ever!!!

This is one of the finest rock vocal performances ever recorded.
1:20 "yee-ea-a-aaahh!!!" perfectly fkn shinin'💯✌
man i fucking love that part
Then a demon came to him, you must know I'm gonna win
this album is one of the best of the 90s if not the best without a doubt in my opinion
i agree. whole album fucking jams.
+Will Jerauld I read your comment at the very moment he sang that lyric. RIP LAYNE YOU FUCKER!
+EricJh21690 Layne was just amazing. His struggle gives us all hope. He lives on for sure.
Amanda Jackson, agree that he was amazing but not that his struggle can give hope. He lost the fight.
FUCKIN POWER!!
This gotta be one of my favorite songs.
From the badass riff to Laynes power belting out the chorus .
God how i wish Layne had pulled through like Frusciante. I miss him so much, such a brutally sad end.
Thank you Layne
RIP Layne. So damn sad he's gone. I had no idea these Mad Season videos were out there. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
Cream for the 90s... This is THE supergroup
The voice of a tortured angel
Idk what it is about the guitar when Layne started singing and the drums coming back in but the groove is so enticing man I love this performance way better than the album version
Truly, a parting gift worth nothing, because it's priceless. Love this song so much. Love to Staley

such a beautiful soul with such scabbed wings

Absolutely LOVE Layne! Such an Beautiful soul
Would give anything to go back in time and be here in person.........RIP Layne......You are missed very much
Baker's bass lines in the song grooves so hard. RIP
This is one of the best intro songs for a movie in my opinion just pray for the day i see that.
best grunge rock singer ever , will always miss that troubled soul
yup
I thought there was no way a human being could possess such talent and life behind their vocals, but then I heard Layne
The music that you made, an incredible gift to us...as we can't have you 😭 LEGEND Happy 50th Birthday Layne 8/22/2017
To grow up in the 80s and 90s when hard rock ruled the world was amazing. Today's music basically sucks.
This poor, tortured soul. You can just feel his pain in your bones when he sings.
Layne was such a G! His voice has the power to calm me no matter my mood.
fuck!! I miss and love that voice.. R.I.P
I FEEL YA!
me too sooooo much
He was an active working musician for about 10 years or so, but Layne left a very long shadow. Such a great and powerful singer despite of the massive heroin problem (hence the gloves to hid the hand track marks). Still one of the best singers of our time. I was lucky to have seen Alice in Chains open for Van Halen in 1991 right before they released "Dirt" and became a huge band.
cant agree enough
Erick who was the bassist affiliated with before MS (RIP)...?
Stellar drumming!
The magnitude of everyone's talent here is incredible.
