Putin risks another "march on Moscow" as the Kremlin battles with the outcry from conscripts sent to fight in Kursk and their families, Ian Garner, professor at the Pilecki Institute in Warsaw tells Frontline on #timesradio

why would you want to fight risking life and limb in a senseless war run by a madman?
Word has got out in Russia just how long conscripts last (it's just a few days)
What you should have said is, who would fight for a man that's wanted by ICC. Anyone fighting for him could be seen as assisting a possible criminal, "if found guilty". But there are many crimes being committed in Ukraine & someone has to answer & be pay for theses crimes.
All wars are for mad men.

Yeah, but that's Russia. No way they have same mindset as central Europeans and USA. Look USA have riots for the smallest thing compare to Russia . Which is another Monday and day as usual in Russia.
The US involvement in Vietnam ended when after 10 years the mothers got tired of sending their 19 and 20 year old conscripted sons off to war, many mothers having 3 or more sons sent over the ten years and the young men began to wonder when a war that started when they were in elementary school would end.
Fun facts.
America lost 57,000 men KIA in 10 years of Vietnam war.
Russia has lost 517,000 men KIA in 2.7 years of Ukraine war.
America lost 2400 men KIA in 20 years of Afghan war.
Russia lost 2517 men KIA in the past 2 days of Ukraine war.
With the US experience in Vietnam, it wasn't just the body bags coming home that increased domestic opposition, it was also the number of physically and mentally damaged young men, many of whom were also drug addicts, returning to their communities across the US.
Vietnam was the first war that was broadcast into American living rooms. People who only knew what Holly Wood told them about Would War II and the Korean war actually got to see up close how horrible and gruesome combat really is.
Veterans usually wouldn't talk much about their experiences.
It should also be noted that in 1970, the voting age in the U.S. dropped down to eighteen years old. And since it was men who were between the ages of 18 to 21 going to fight it was politically expedient to leave Vietnam. Moms, dads, and son used their vote to go home.

Don't make the mistake of thinking any of these conscripts are necessarily opposed to the war in general; they probably know none of the truth at all. They simply don't want to die, and that's it, but that's good enough to prompt them to surrender.
Absolutely! Russians didn't flee Russia because they opposed the insane massacres of Ukrainians or turning Ukraine into rubble. They left for self-preservation! They don't want to die.
They know exactly what is going on because they hear it from friends and they see the coffins coming home. They have probably been beaten during hazing, which is rampant in military training camps. They are afraid of their superior officers, lied to about the glories of the front, but reality sinks in when their "armor" is filled with plastic and their rifles jam up because they are rusty.
The reason Putin is reluctant to conscript men from western "white Russia" is because when those coffins come home, it's hard to hide them. Until now, sending coffins back to the far flung regions east of the Ural Mountains ain't a big deal because no-one cares about those "cousins of Mongol goatherders". To prevent revolts Putin has replaced a lot of the military leadership, moved people around senior positions. That is all because of Putin's fear of internal revolts.

Honestly, what was said in this vid that hasn't been said a million times over. Such poor 'journalism'.
The only problem I have with this report is referring to Russia as "replacing one Afghanisatan Communist government with another." The fact that any country may be Communist is irrelevant. Dictatorship is the opposite of Democracy, not Capitalism.. Communism is a primarily economic concern and dictatorships use the concept in an effort to control everything. Democratic Communism is impossible since it would require a level of altruism in a population which humanity is currently unable to achieve. Socialism is the workable middle road.
My feelings exactly. True communism has never been tried. Never. And it's impossible at this level of human evolution. I'm gratified that you qualified "the level of altruism" with 'currently'.
