Can’t hardly believe I just came across this… lifelong deadhead who tends to unconsciously say out loud to my non deadhead daughter, a football fanatic, “how lucky are you to know every dead song they play on football broadcasts!” - eye roll… lol! Thanks for sharing this insight to how it all comes to be! Love it & appreciate you Mr Jolly!
Much love from Cleveland. Awesome. Keep it going brother. I remember watching a ball game and the dead playing on the way to commercial it was probably 2016. As a old deadhead I almost fainted 😆 🤣 🤣 🤣
If you like... like, reeeeeally like the word "Like", this is the conversation for you!!! 🤣 i kid, keep on rockin' jake, love your creativity with the fox broadcasts!
Now I understand why I hear the dead during nfl games , you guys are cool down to earth fans , so glad you are putting the dead into the sports love it . Wish you left the Yankees implosion out of the conversation, lol.
bigger? maybe their guitarist is, lol seriously though, dso might be better, but bigger? i don't think so... jrad sells far more tickets than dso these days
@@jimlahey90 does Jrad host a 3 day festival?? Does Jrad play Year round tours from January through December? Jrad is on a list of large acts in the dead space to be sure. But DSO is the fiscal top of the mountain in the cover space.
@@johnstamos8403 I would be shocked of this were the case, I literally have seen them both in the same venue and one was packed out, it wasn't DSO. Not hating, love them both! Maybe larger following due to DSO being around for so long (and being a true cover band - literally mimicking actual dead shows)...
The Phish show that you're talking about with the fire alarm was 6.21.94. I remember this because the next day, 6.22.94 is probably my favorite show to listen to. Also, fun fact, but the fire alarm went off during Horse and, to my knowledge, is the only time that Horse -> Silent was ever broken apart? Maybe I'm wrong there.
Saw that Primus "Return To Kings" show, and JRAD in the past couple of years. I had seen Primus a few time, and Primus SUCKS! by the way, but they had the darkest light show I ever saw. No follow spots, everything was from behind the band. Weird. JRAD was lots of fun, but they came around here about a month ago and I gave it a miss, I had my reasons, but none were that good. Get 'em next time. Very interesting interview, heard a little "Truckin' " on a Fox NFL game this past weekend.
WRT David Gilmour and Roger Waters, I believe there is a legal agreement about what they play. It may be something that has passed, and is no longer relevant, but there was something like that, for sure.
You say the Reds can't afford to sign Elly? How can a billionaire owner of a team not be able to afford a decent contract? The contracts are ridiculous, and a guy who strikes out at that high a rate (218 is 30 more than Dale Murphy ever managed in a season) cannot be commanding several hundreds of millions unless he's Aaron Judge as a rookie also mashing 52 HRs.
that perspective would be hard to defend.....although the Dead's music has its roots in blues, folk, rock, jazz, and other older genres, the core essence and structure of much/most of their songs is improvisation, hence "jam".....they never play the song the same way twice, which is their inherent beauty, and why people love them so much, as my friend says, "music for smart people" ;- ) while the GD don't "only jam", the format of their songs; 1. introduce structure 2. play 1 or more verses of structure 3. gravitate away from structure, often to the point of not even being able to see or hear (or remember lol) the original structure 4. introduce/tease the return to original structure 5. return to original structure before concluding song It is between #3-#5-#6 above that "jamming" (improvisation") occurs regularly.....
@ subjective perspective doesn’t need defense, setting up a conflict that doesn’t exist think anything u choose shit4brains not a jam band. They do play things the same, they play things in variations they go off on solos & keep going on a given trip, many solos are very much alike.
Back in the early 00’s they would play YEM on the Weather Channel.
Finally get to thank the man who handles the fox sports music!! Who also appreciates JRAD as much as I do!!!

Jake said Nutter Center 98, I think he meant Nutter Center 1997. Great show and I love he was referencing off the cuff a classic Phish show.

Tweezer Reprise when Phelps won his last gold was EPIC

We were at the original fire alarm show in 1990 (maybe 89) Mable Brown Room Keene State College. No second set after it was pulled.
