Thank you for this wonderful trip down memory lane. I first walked the Camino Frances in 2010 - not knowing at the start it was a Holy Year and very, very busy especially the last 100km from Sarria. The second time I had time only to walk half and it was so much quieter and more pleasant. You struck a holy year too it seems as due to Covid the Pope extended 2021 to encompass 2022 hence the busy journey. I have to say I much preferred a “non” holy year. I really enjoyed your commentary and the way you filmed this journey. Thank you again for the trip down memory lane - now onto part 2. Regards from New Zealand.

Hi Lynn! Thanks for writing. Well I have done this thing now around 20 times (not always the Frances and only twice the whole thing at once). Anyway: I think it was more about the end of covid and not such much because of the holy year. Things have changed a lot over the years. Too many people is the new normal. That’s why I usually walk the alternative routes. Much closer to my original experience.

This is one of the best camino uploads I've watched.. I did the camino Frances a few years ago and this video really captures the feelings and issues I faced...as well as the gorgeous scenery. But the best part of this video is the music! So beautiful!

Thoroughly enjoyed this very easy walk with you..... As I'm horizontal in bed. Kept me awake! Worth it. I liked seeing your view and appreciated the camera not being focused on yourself. Your stories and historical knowledge of the sites were fabulous instead of the usual personal life stories that seem to be a popular dialogue among many. Thank you so very much. I'm grateful. Onto part 2 I go.

You're right. He was such a nice guy. I talked to him for quite a while and only after our conversation I had the idea to record it. Too late, so it's just very small amount of material. It seems, that they have taken the App out of the App Store, so it seems like it went to pilgrim's paradise together with him.

The Anglo-Saxons have not yet got rid of the complex of Dr. Livingstone or Lawrence of Arabia and they give the Camino de Santiago a significance as an adventure or as an internal journey that it no longer has, firstly because the Camino passes through areas where in the worst of In less than 4 hours walking, you can find where to have a cold beer, a pharmacy, an ATM or a supermarket... Secondly, the road has lost, except for believers who still believe the story of the forgiveness of sins, all spiritual transcendence, due to its massification. Moreover, I think that a numerus clausus should begin to be imposed. If today someone wants to make an inner journey in solitude, there are much less traveled routes, with the same landscapes and historical monuments. Today the road is a tourist route, as in medieval times it was a commercial and cultural route, through which the Gothic style was introduced in Spain and served for its diffusion also for its diffusion to the countries of the pilgrims. In my opinion, the importance of the Camino de Santiago is that it was together with Charlemagne that led Europe to consider itself a unit and made the Scandinavians to the Hungarians and the Irish to the Poles believe they belonged to the same community, which broke with the Reform and has now been reborn with the European Union

Well, that's your view and I do respect that. And it sounds pretty wise, too :) Though my philosophy is much more simple: walk and try to find what you're looking for. And i you don't find it, go and look somewhere else.
