neat tractor, and that disk was working nicely too, we usually put a chisel shank with a sweep in the center of the disk on older tandems to get that little strip
After a little cough and a fart it just "ran like a Deere"! Motor sounds really good and it pulls that implement so easily; another great find. After watching some of your countrymen prep for seeding earlier this year with their new debt machines (IVTs, electronics and solenoids for everything) I'm sure a few of then still waiting for service calls might feel a bit jealous. Thanks from Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.
Enjoy you videos JT and appreciate your editing style and the time you take to move the camera around to get different angles. The rooftop view of tilling the field was cool, bet that was fun to set up. Keep doing what you do! 🇺🇸🤘🏻
I agree. Making videos myself I know there is a lot of moving and setting up to catch all the angles to make the audience feel as if they are part of each action. I really appreciated that in this video as well. I know how easy it can be to say I don’t have to add this one and he did it. He caught it all and it was really fantastic.
I know many people aren’t keen on the cab, but you very rarely see on of that series of JD’s with a cab, so it makes this one just a little different from the rest of them, and shows a little bit of tractor history and development. Big 👍 from the UK.
The ##10 series John Deere tractors were a game changer when they came on the market. In South Texas where I grew up, Farmall tractors ruled the market for years. People didn't like the hand clutch on the two-cylinder John Deere tractors, but then the 10 series diesels came out, and South Texas became John Deere territory.
JT I would think 5th gear would be fast enough 4th gear is also good. I always plowed corn ground in 5th and sod in 4th it did a nicer job . We disced with an R JD 13ft. We used a 4020 JD and a 4030 JD .
I've got a 3020 gas JD that sat for 15 years and my neighbor called me and needed a tractor as his smaller diesel was not in service at the time and asked to borrow our 3020 (if we still had it) well....I told him I drained the gas and changed the oil before I put it away 15 years prior and forgot about it. He showed up with 10 or 20 gallons of gas and a new battery. It started quick and used it for 2 weeks without one single issue, well, he did remind me that it does go through quite a bit of gas - ha ha ha. Yup, that it does! Not bragging on John Deere.....I'm just say'n!
I miss that cab view, I disked and bailed every season on a 5020, I think that line of tractors was John Deeres crowning achievement, I know people like to straight pipe these tractors but i think it sounds perfect with the stock muffler
Excellent video JT :) also matinne up tractors , combines or anything fun to do and learning and saved another tractor for sure ! Plus testing on feild work proved you got winner one and my dad used tell me put 100 ml of GM Automatic Transmission fluid also grey bottle of STP Total Treatment fuel injection and carb cleaner in fuel tank to help running smoothly on engine to for each desiel tractors on farm ! I know a lot of farmers that use compressed air they also make a tool now you can hook to your air compressor it spins on the inside of the air filter and blows it out with compressed air
Blow them outer filters out. I have done it all of the time for 26 years. Haven’t dusted an engine yet. Still the inner one on the tractors I run. I never put air through the secondary one to clean it though. One of the best starting old john Deere tractor I’ve ever seen though.

Big thing with the 531 Deeres is to let them warm up before loading them, otherwise they have a tendency to spin bearings. Getting all the gauges to work looks to be next on the list..........
@@jtsbarnngrill6873what about fuel and tachometer ? I feel like that will pull way beyond what you’d think a 120hp tractor should!
@jtsbarnngrill6873 yet when they came out most farmers were disappointed by what they could pull.
@@ivanmoreau1798 There's been some advancement in tires since those came out. Wondering if that puts the power down better now?
