Always exciting catching a shark on a kayak, eh. You did a good job with the release of the bigger one. Hope the snapper and possibly kingie fishing will improve a bit for ya. Winter used to be my favourite time for fishing up there.
cheers Mark. I was out today and one thing I found that proved 2 b productive with the kahawai and snapper (with the anchovy session) is to use micro softbaits. I do hope the king will eventually turn up big or small
I only just started fishing this year. My first 2 fish were Kahawais, my 2nd was a John Dory. So I'm pretty happy that even though I haven't caught many fish, at least I've caught one that seems to elude a lot of fishermen.

you have to admit, those hammer heads are a cool looking shark. :)
for sure I wanted to tag them but its hard to handle on the kayak
I was surprised how small they are. I've always thought hammerheads were really big sharks
yea those r just the pups. the giants r very rare in nz, in fact i haven't heard much about big hammerhead sharks in nz at all
