Nandi, you brought a tear to my eye with this tribute! Tom Sawyer is a difficult song to play drums to and you made it so much fun. Neil would have loved your performance and wonderful smile, as both Geddy and I do!
Watching her starting to really go off at the climax rolling at 2:34 brought such a smile to my face. That cascading drum rolling is always my favorite part.
Bravo young lady. Rush fan of 40 years. Seen them in concert many times, got all the albums, dvd's etc. You did an excellent job. Neil peart is one of the all time greats, he will be looking down and smiling I'm sure. Keep rocking nandi.
Okay look. Peart inspired me to start playing drums in like 1980? He was, and is, my drum guru. I played for 20 years and still do when I can. Taught drums for awhile. When Moving Pictures came out I stopped everything else I was doing and tried to learn every single stroke. It takes weeks to nail down a piece like this. I don't know where this girl's talent came from but despite the joy on her face, despite her making this look easy, I know only a handful of people - some who are very accomplished session drummers - who could pull this off. Nandi, you're on another planet, love. #madrespect
She handled Tool with no problem and follows that with covering the great Neil Peart in Tom Sawyer. It's quite clear, Nandi, you'll be drumming for the rest of your life and I am honored to see the challenges that you conquer ahead! Very, VERY well done.
All my drum heros are long gone...Ive been playing since 1964, you are at a level that i never achived. YOU are my new hero! I hope you continue playing and make music your future! Congrats!!
As a fellow musician and Rush fan at 42 years old, seeing another girl who is much younger than me play along with one of the best bands in the world and loving every second of it puts a huge smile on my face and gives me hope for your generation of musicians! Keep on rockin' girl! 👍👌 Much ❤ from Canada 🇨🇦 P.s. You nailed it!
Neil himself said that this is a very difficult song to play. I'm a drummer myself (51 years old; started playing at the age of 14) and have a hard time with this song. But you NAILED it.
Thank you Nandi for helping future generations to listen to some of the best classic rock there is!😊 Your a beacon of hope to a lot of people both young and old! I hope your beautiful smile and joy carries you to whatever you want to do in life! 🙏
Not many people can play this as flawlessly as you have. This is a hard song, not just to play but to memorize. You continue to impress me. Keep practicing, you’ve gotten so much better in the past two years that I can’t even begin to imagine where you’ll be next week! The Professor is looking down, smiling.
Very well done young lady! It was nice to hear that this morning here in the U.S. brings back memories of my high school days in the 80's. You are a star my dear, and I hope you go far in the industry. Perhaps we will all be buying an album by you in the near future. I would be first in line for that. You remind me of my granddaughter who just turned 13. Excellent work Nandi.
As a female Rush fan since the summer of 1975, I say "Bravo!" Your timing is spot on! Keep adding toms to your kit and you'll be unstoppable! I'm sure The Professor is watching you and is impressed. Ty for being a REAL musician and keeping great music alive! I'll be watching your career unfold as you reach the complexities of percussion! ✌🥁🤘👩🎓👸💁♀️💪👍
Growing up in the 1980's, every high school drummer tried to play this and the vast majority were fails. You, however, ROCKED IT! Keep up the drumming and keep bringing that smile to your music!
Wow!!! I got goosebumps!! Been playing drums for over 50 years. Neal was my hero! You nailed it!!!. You are now my other hero!! Keep up the good work Nandi!!!!! Neal would have loved to see this!!
These are the facial expressions EVERY Rush fan makes when listening to these songs...even after decades. Pure enjoyment is what you want to see when watching someone play their instrument. Warms the heart.
Nandi - the 1st time I saw Rush, I was dumbfounded to see a Neil perform songs like this in real life! In those days, drumming like this seemed almost humanly impossible. To see it in person was nearly incomprehensible. And yet you conquered it with a joy and vitality that brings a gasp, a smile and a giggle of wonderment to faces all over the world! You’re an inspiration - reminding all of us to find your talents and your joy and share them - thank you 🙏❤️🤘❤️🙏 Keep on rockin’! 🥁🤘🥁🤘🥁
Unfrickenbelievable!!! And I love the fact that Alex Lifeson himself saw this and commented. Hopefully a new generation of young musicians rise up and bring back some actual musicianship in this era of low information music. The middle drum break of that song, the second fill with the double bass roll !!!
Rock on young lady!!! The music that so many of us have loved for so many years will only ever be heard live again when fans like you bring it to the stage and play your hearts. Thank you !
With youngsters like this, Rock and Roll will never lie. Nandi, your professional skills and enthusiasm, are a breath for us all from years gone by. Please keep up the hard work. You make it look so easy. We all love you.
I read about this, Nandi, in an article in the Toronto Sun. Apparently, Alex and Geddy loved it, so, I stopped by to check it out. I loved it, too. Stay fierce, girl.
I was literally jumping out of my seat, laughing, tearing up and trying to keep up (after watching it for the fourth time!) Are we, perhaps, watching the GOAT in the making?? Nandi you are a joy and an inspiration. Thank you, Professor Bushell!
I can see how physically demanding this song is. Even Neil Peart said it was really hard to do. I've only known one drummer to consistently pull Thaine off without misses. Nandi, to you own this. Bravo
Nandi, such a great job. I am a huge Rush fan and I love what you did here. I know Neil would be so pleased but not only because you did such a great job on his works but also because you are helping to share it with a new generation to enjoy as much as we all have. I have always loved your energy and that you are so dedicated to be technical but also still have so much fun while doing it. Some day you will make music professionally because its so much a part of you but I hope your friends and loved ones support you in the ugly world of the music business, because it can be so hard sometimes. Many musicians have written songs about it, even Dave Grohl and Metallica. Once you become an adult and you find yourself not enjoying some of the situations that the business throws at you, just go back and watch some of your own vids and see that spark and fun that you always show in your videos and it will help you smile and keep your spirits high, just like it does for all of us 😉
You’re on fire my dear!! I’m in awe. Chills and tears! I saw Neil Peart in the 90’s and you’re the closest I’ve ever seen to that genius. I can’t wait to watch your journey 😍🤩🔥
Nandi Bushell, You are an amazing talent. I have been waiting to see you take on a Rush song. Neil Peart would be proud. Thank you for sharing with us. Love it! 👏👏👏👏👏
I can't believe this little girl played this as well as she did. Neil would be so proud of her and I think everybody that has ever picked up a pair of sticks can relate to this. I started playing drums in 1965 and I know this isn't easy to pull off. This little girl has a lot of talent and should keep on with it since she is having so much fun. Nandi you keep up the good work and bring us more videos of Rush. Neil was one of a kind and their will never be another Neil again.
YOU GO GIRL!!! I was in awe the entire time! I am so glad you are so young and we will be seeing more of you for years to come! Never loose that passion, that is priceless!
Congratulations young lady! You have the chance to harbor great respect in the drumming community. Don't forget those who came before u. Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, John Bonham, they are all looking down and smiling. Never lose the love!
Neil was always learning, always improving. His talent, like yours, was giant. He was a master percussionist and world class drummer, and his legend will live forever. Your tribute to him is touching and quite remarkable. Thank you. His solo in Frankfurt is a must see. He shows a few different styles of drumming in his arsenal. I believe you may find it informative and entertaining. Have a great day!
Watching and listening to you play with such style, skill, and spirit has made this 70 year-old musician and music lover happier and more hopeful than I’ve been in a long, long time. Thank you. Keep on rockin’!
It's been a rough few weeks for the world. Nothing brightens my mood more than watching you play music. Your talent is secondary to the joy you get from playing. Love and respect to you and your family. ❤
AMAZING!! Taking on Peart's music and rising to the challenge! As you continue to grow as an artist and a human being, may you never lose the pure joy that radiates from inside while you play. ❤😎👍
I've been a fan of RUSH since I was a little one. Now this little one has completely blown my mind. I cannot articulate how happy this makes me. You are incredible, and your absolute joy while drumming is beautiful.
Nandi... if there is one thing I love more than your playing it is your Boundless, joyful spirit. If you didn't play a single beat you would still bring a big smile to my face. Thank you for making music look so fun. You are an inspiration.
Absolutely fantastic, Nandi! Neil would have loved this. I'm sure he is looking down on you and smiling with immense pride. Keep up the great work. You rock! 🤟😎
Good lord, I literally had tears welling up in my eyes watching this. I love Rush and Neil Peart. So seeing such young talent playing this song so well REALLY moved me at a visceral level 🥰🙏
My favorite musician now. I can't tell you how many times I've watched this one and the tool cover forty six and two. My absolute favorite. Kids playing instruments is a lost art. Let's take away their phones and video games, right now music is in trouble and this little girl can't save it by herself but she's one hell of a start.
I read about Nandi in the paper today and as a huge Rush fan I had to look this up right away....I was cheering and clapping at those peak moments and I had tears in my eyes....truly wonderful personality and skill...the world is your oyster Nandi!
So much fun to watch you play! You have so much fun doing it too... the way you look and smile at the camera like your making sure we saw your mad skills and your love of the drums. Keep it up and you'll be one of the greats!
When asked about his favorite memories Neil Peart replied with “hitting every stroke on ‘Tom Sawyer’ because it was a complex arrangement”. It would be fun to see this incredible opportunity to play “Tom Sawyer” on Neil’s kit. Taking on Dave Grohl was one thing, but taking on Neil Peart is quite another. It would be fun to see her take on Travis Barker or Tre Cool and see how she does with a punk playing style. Spot on great JOB Ms. Bushell, I hope you never loose your passion.
Love this kid she's great. Thanks for posting this Rush is my favorite band. It's great to see you play this song an amazing player now can't wait to see what you do in the years to come.
Your performance ilicited tears of joy and a sense of awe. Whenever I drift into cynicism about contemporary rock and roll, I will watch your video to remind myself that young musicians like you are on the horizon. Lots of love from we Canadians. 🇨🇦
Nandi, you brought a tear to my eye with this tribute! Tom Sawyer is a difficult song to play drums to and you made it so much fun. Neil would have loved your performance and wonderful smile, as both Geddy and I do!
Respect to you both, she was a Bobby Dazzler.
And it's been said by he who knows best!
❤️
Whoa! Is this really Alex Lifeson?
And THAT is what's crazy - she rocked it!
Could not have summed it up better myself.
Results of what was most important playing not playing!
I echo this completely! And remembering to smile at the camera on top of everything… priceless!
Okay look. Peart inspired me to start playing drums in like 1980? He was, and is, my drum guru. I played for 20 years and still do when I can. Taught drums for awhile. WELL SAID !!!
You lost me at okay look
She absolutely crushes the entire thing, but around the 2:30 mark I was ready to give a standing O. The stick work is ridiculous.
You would never see The Professor smiling when playing that song. Also, Neil wore shoes while playing.
Ya Man LOLOLOL !!! Holy SH-T :) I am so Impressed give this girl a band to play real music again ??? 🤔
I saw her play live with the Foo Fighters in Los Angeles. She stole the hearts of everyone in the whole arena! Nandi Rocks!😎❤️
I would have gladly paid and extra $100 dollars to the ticket price to have seen that show !
You just combined two of my favorite things, the greatest band of all time and watching you play!
She handled Tool with no problem and follows that with covering the great Neil Peart in Tom Sawyer. It's quite clear, Nandi, you'll be drumming for the rest of your life and I am honored to see the challenges that you conquer ahead! Very, VERY well done.
Somebody call the Fire Dept!!! There's WAY too much smoke in the room!
Nicely done, Little Big Drum.
All my drum heros are long gone...Ive been playing since 1964, you are at a level that i never achived. YOU are my new hero! I hope you continue playing and make music your future! Congrats!!

P.s. You nailed it!
I can't stop tearing up! I've never seen anything this inspiring!!!!
All of humanity is lifted by this. And by Alex and Geddys love as well.
I LOVE her expressions and the joy that exudes from her! The flow and playfulness. So great!
Love love love rush. You got the music in you young lady. The world is yours. 🖤🤍🖤🤍
If someone hasn't shown this to Alex and Geddy, they need to. The Professor would be incredibly happy with this. Well done, Nandi!
Rush world tour 2023!
Alex retweeted her video on Twitter.
I think Geddy and Alex would be thinking, hmmm, maybe this could work, let's hit the road again hahaha
Nandi also posted this clip on twitter. Alex retweeted it today from the Rush acct and added an emotional, positive comment.
@@joshkrook2458 He's not on Twitter, that's a fan based account you saw.

Just amazing… impressive… and fun! So well done… wow! Keep on rocking…🤘😬
Even Peart said he messed it up from time to time.. that's how hard it is.
The memorization part is my biggest struggle, sometimes I know what to play but I forget when to play it, I switch orders and everything lmao
@@00vulture you gotta feel it man, don't try to think what's gonna happen next
The joy that you show in playing makes Neil and all of us smile/ and cry. Long life to you Nandi!

Absolutely killer Nandi I know it's going to be a good day when I see a new cover by you on UA-cam.
I've been watching her from the beginning and to see the joy and happiness she has playing is truly a gift!!!!
So amazing. This is harder song to play than most people think. A lot of intricacies. She nailed it. I’m not surprised though. Great job.
Some parts felt a little off but overall it's a great cover. I just wish the drum kit sounded better. It sounds really muffled
Peace and respect indeed, little lady - you've done the Professor proud!!!
To infinity and beyond, Nandi!
You make it look easy. Neil would have been proud.
I’ve watched this like 10 times in the last two weeks. Every time I see it, it brings me absolute joy.
Pro level cover. Neil Peart would have been proud. You make it look so easy. A testament to all your hard work. Keep it up and rock on! 😎🤘👍

Have a great day!
You made me smile during your complete performance young lady. Great show, huge bow for you!
Your simply the BEST Nandy. Keep shooting for the stars because your definitely one of them😊

see her cover of Basket case looks like she enjoys Greenday and her copy oy one handed Travis barker drumming
How can you not watch and listen to that and not be happy. You GO!
Neil always said that this was a tough song to get right and if he played it well it made him feel good. You did a fantastic job.
Amazing! Love the smiles while you play..
I can't get enough of your videos and your performance.... Keep them rolling in. I am truly inspired by your gift of drum playing!
Love this kid she's great. Thanks for posting this Rush is my favorite band. It's great to see you play this song an amazing player now can't wait to see what you do in the years to come.
This is your best cover yet. You really are growing up to be one of the world's best drummers! Keep up the energy kid. Love your work.
Your performance ilicited tears of joy and a sense of awe. Whenever I drift into cynicism about contemporary rock and roll, I will watch your video to remind myself that young musicians like you are on the horizon.
