Not so much can you play these licks or not. It’s can you remember the arrangement and play the proper lick when King Peart plays it....well done Kyle.
Took me 2 years self taught to learn this. I can say, every expression on his face were focus and enjoyment/ fun that it was done. Nothing as a percussionist makes you happier than nailing it.
I think Kyle gets this 100% cause he's relaxed and smiling. It can be nerve-wracking to try such an iconic song. But the worst thing to do is tense up, which isn't seen here. Kudos.
Legendary Kyle, a true master that has done great justice to one of the greatest Legends of rock. Thank you very much Kyle. You never disappoint. Great work.
Have you seen Meytal Cohen's cover of Tom Sawyer? She did a great job. However she seems to have a different vibe because she doesn't quite attack the drums like Kyle does. Maybe it's a different personality? I wonder if she plays Motley Crue. I'd like to see if she attacks the songs like Kyle does.
I transcribed the drum part, then went to UA-cam to see if anyone was playing it accurately...this is the most accurate version I've seen, right down to the accent patterns and the subtler hihat openings Neil does on the original recording. Very well done.
Neil Peart used to say that he knew how well his night went if he played Tom Sawyer right. Well Kyle, you were spot on with this cover you deserve to have that big smile on your face. Well done.
Gotta love the chewing...a friend of mine in high school did the same thing and was an awesome drummer. He kept his tempo and stayed in the pocket by doing that. Pretty cool 😎
HOLY F'ING GOD!!!!!!!! Kyle, you nailed it! Very Neil-worthy. This cover was well worth the wait! I've never seen videos of Neil smiling when he's playing this. You are truly a pleasure to watch. Not sure of the complexity of the song, but I'd love to see you cover Nightwish's version of "Over the Hills and Far Away".
Kyle, I've watched many of your videos and I have to say, you're very impressive. Love how you hit to your aggressive style and attack. I jaw hasn't dropped hard to your playing except during the video at 3:00-3:12 you go off and do these incredible off beats and your timing was perfect. I had to watch that 3 or 4 times. I was so excited to see what I saw. It doesn't come easy. I'm not a drummer but I could sure appreciate your playing and style. Cheers!
Hey Kyle. I just started watching your videos recently. I must say, your a great talent. You make it look so easy!! I'm a big fan. Where are you from? I'm from Pennsylvania. Is your kit setup @ your home? Or a studio somewhere? Keep up the great work!! I'll keep watching. Your fan. Mike Colman.
You are a great drummer, but why are you driving the stick into snare like that instead of letting bounce? It's throwing me off because Neil's snare play doesn't sound like that.
I bet I know why you got a single thumbs down (as of this post) but that's just being anal! It says "cover" NOT "How to"! Whoever it was was a purist Neil fan and has no soul, it may not be exact but you're having fun and if you played it like this with a really good cover band it'd be totally fine! Thumbs up, nicely done.
If any one of your videos have shown me I only need a basic 5 piece kit,its playing this song lol..Seeing Peart surrounded by a sea of drums "which some how he manages to use" makes this even more impressive..
I don't know jack about the drums .... but hearing you play sounds just as good as the real recordings, not to mention your joy for playing hops off the screen ... Thanks for sharing and best of luck!
Kyle, kyle, KYLE!!! Ma man!!! Just killing it bro!! Such a fantastic job on this track! Neil himself would be very proud bro! Keep posting Kyle! We wait wit baited breath for the next vid! T- 💯👌👌👌😜👍🤘🤘👌👌👌
You can tell the harder parts by the intensity of the chewing.
I thought he was talking to himself......good observation. I don't think he is as mental now.
R.I.P Neil Peart the greatest drummer of my Country 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Not the greatest drummer of your country, the greatest drummer of the world dude
No...... the greatest drummer in the solar federation!
@@davisonfamily9604 the greatest in the whole universe
@@bdr32965 Yes !!!!! Greatest. Drummer in The World.!!!!!! YES !!!!! So Agree with You !!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently y’all live in a world without John Bonham
Not so much can you play these licks or not. It’s can you remember the arrangement and play the proper lick when King Peart plays it....well done Kyle.
Well said sir
Took me 2 years self taught to learn this. I can say, every expression on his face were focus and enjoyment/ fun that it was done. Nothing as a percussionist makes you happier than nailing it.
The happiest Tom Sawyer drummer ever
Não não, de todo o mundo 🌎
its amazing how girls that play this song incorrectly get millions of views, but the goat kyle only got 35k😔

Oh man i love it, how you can play that song !!

2:49 and the second wind kicks in and the drum heads start screaming in pain.
This is the best, most accurate, and SLAMMINest drum cover of Tom Sawyer I have ever heard. Pure awesomeness.
You should see a video of a young kid named Avery Molek. He did a Tom Sawyer drum cover when he was like 7 or 8. The kid is AMAZING.
THIS is how an excellent drummer hits that snare!! THWACK!!
Makes me happy seeing Neils stuff played well not disgraced his name at all
Best one I’ve seen so far
Made my night dude
I transcribed the drum part, then went to UA-cam to see if anyone was playing it accurately...this is the most accurate version I've seen, right down to the accent patterns and the subtler hihat openings Neil does on the original recording. Very well done.
Excellent that 1 and 2112 Are my favorite so far Now do another rush Long 1With complicated drumming .2112 it's my favorite though
Drummed this song before, I gotta say the chorus feels so good.
Mainly because you can finally stop the 16th notes on the hi-hat/ride cymbal
You are really in the pocket!! Great job!!
Killed it, dude. Killed. It.
At 2:48, to finally hear someone play the end of that fill correctly. Nice job Kyle!
Orlando Bloom is Killing it !
Smashed it. That snare kills.
Excellent job Kyle! I mean you just covered Neil Peart I'd say you're pretty fucking good! Love the vids and keep up the great work!
Very accurate bro, nice 👍

All was perfect, timing, sound, difficult parts, but I think ghost notes on the snare drums at minute 3:05 Neil did it let's say softer.

thanks mate
Maestro Neil would be proud of you

Hey no smiling! Neil never smiled. You can’t truly sound like Peart if you look like you’re having fun.
Excellent !!!
Killing job! Learned this in 1982. Played 16ths on HH with both hands until I could do it with one at an older age. On a 5 piece as well.

I wish he would play the Bell Cymbal part like Neal did...those who don't...i dont know... aren't doing Peart justice
To put it mildly. You f’n nailed it.
I bet I know why you got a single thumbs down (as of this post) but that's just being anal! It says "cover" NOT "How to"! You know Foo Fighters. Loss Taylor Hawkins…. Why not see if they would give you a interview……. Your just so damn Great……
Also love to see you cover "Red Barchetta" and "Freewill". The covers of it I've seen by others just don't cut it. Their "sound" is off.
And could you believe Neil the great one tried everything he could to change his style with the help of Freddie Gruber.
If any one of your videos have shown me I only need a basic 5 piece kit,its playing this song lol..Seeing Peart surrounded by a sea of drums "which some how he manages to use" makes this even more impressive..
Awesome cover!! Rush is one of the reasons I try to play drums. His music will live on forever. The Professor!!! 🙌
No you didn't fuck up. Well ya. but drumming should be fun and why not make it your own?
Good job - Nailed it, now do Pneuma by Tool.....That'll test anyone's timing ability.
You have real ability dude. Do this for a while but start writing and creating your own. That's where the $$$$$ is.
I love his facial expressions.....
Ummm, only 5 drums and 4 cymbals? Isn't there a Canadian law somewhere that says you need 15 more drums? lol
I don't know jack about the drums .... but hearing you play sounds just as good as the real recordings, not to mention your joy for playing hops off the screen ... Thanks for sharing and best of luck!
Thank you so much!!!
Neil Peart woulda have approved I'm sure 🥲 amazing cover
So clean,Love you Kyle 😘🔥❤
Fucking BONKERS‼️ 🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼☮️💟
Someone call 911, this guy just murdered those drums...
Foo fighters should pick him up to replace Tyler…………
He looks bored; like he's not having fun at all. 😂 JK.
Eu sei que você veio aqui para ver essa virada - 02:31 - Obrigado, de nada!
A bit busy or off a tad just after 3:00, but very good overall. Neil is never easy of course. 👍🏼
738 👍 to 1 👎 🤯 might be the most lopsided ratio I’ve ever seen.
Hey Kyle on this song, could you tell me your cymbals your using please. love the sounds
Amazing job on a hard song to follow.
