Although Liam Howlett is known for using loads of samples, in this case the main guitar riff was played by Jim Davies, who also played on Firestarter. There are at least 4 samples in the song though.
I’ve been producing for ten years only in my last couple of years have I started to understand and dive into synthesis etc. You are a genius to me mate. This is absolutely incredible talent.
Man, the power of resonance and filtering... really cool use of detuning to replicate the pluck too. Very cool sound design concepts you shared here. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. I've been getting into synths lately and your video really helps to understand how some things work. Also it sounds pretty close to the original imo
I don't know if it's just me but I really dislike unfilterted saw waves, with every synth you open almost the init patch will be a saw wave. I've actually gotten into the habit with most synths that before I even press a key I will close the filter a bit
Sounds pretty close I’d say . One small tip : I got ahold of the latest Korg Edition 3 update and after exploring the presets on the Prophecy I found a lot of “ Prodigy sounds “ including the distorted 303 from Poison . Cheers Note for anyone too broke for Serum the free version of Vital can do all of this and sounds great in it’s own right.
Great, your video confirms 100% why I went DAW-less: I don't want to "program" a sound, I want to "play" it, without 200 drop-downs. Your video is quite helpful though showing what different settings like hi-pass and resonanz do.
This really was a fantastic tutorial! The track was for the longest time my #1 Prodigy hit, but seeing the details that went into reproducing the opening sound, gave me a new perspective on it. I thought your presentation was extremely clean, and if this is not how you normally do things - consider mirroring this on future vids. I'll definitely be checking out more of your channel as a result!
Jimm Pavloff did some cool remakes of songs from Prodigy and he did it pretty well cause he used the original samples that he sampled his self out of their original tunes.
I wish I had that knowledge, I really envy you! Re-creating is sometimes harder than actually doing some fun stuff that occasionally sounds good. No disrespect to Prodigy, though. Metalhead with a taste for electronic music here, Prodigy fan since the 90s.
Close, but not quite there. I think you'd get even closer with some bit crushing specifically. Look up Jim Pavloff's Prodigy remake videos for some inspiration.

I have to sign up for a spotify and instagram account to download it?

Glad you like it!
Not gonna lie, this is DEFINITELY me when I'm driving.
I'm glad you're not gonna lie about this

thanks!
Wtf! As a prodigy fan forever, and I’ve seen them quite a few times… this was fantastic. When the drums hit 🤯
one of my fav tunes of all time
Breathe with me!
Mateeeeee this is epic. I was skeptical when I saw the video come up because obviously it’s a guitar sample but this is so close man unreal job!! 🙌🏻
Absolutely brilliant. More Prodigy sounds please!!! 😁

So much useful knowledge here, thank you for sharing!!
Wow, that was impressive. You really know your stuff!

'Adventure' is the one from the mid section of Firestarter, as I recall...
Thanks for sharing a cool detuning feature for plucking. Definitely, will use that.

This looks super professional
Thank you for the tutorial. The Prodigy is one of my all time favorite bands. I mostly make break beats and dubstep type music, so this helps huge.
Nice one! Respect from Ukraine!
Awesome tutorial... Big Thanks
Incredible how you thought about Juno waveshape! It fits perfectly. Great Job
Thank you very much!
Mmmm.. Not that perfect.
The feels when the drums finally kicked in!
Nice work.
Thank you so much Sam! For someone who’s navigating around serum I really appreciate that you are doing this and for free. Keep doing what you do!

After watching this cool vid, I immediately dug out my prodigy cd, just to listen to this song again! hahaha
Yes the sound is pretty close, nice sound programming man
the force is strong with this one

Chef's kiss
Cool video dude - thanks! Always curious about this one
Very impressive. Cool to watch how you think/work during making a sound
Surely you are next level genius with sound design and understanding of Serum
I shazamed it and it worked. Man, am I impressed!
Marvelous.
i wasn't aware there were people that thought this was a guitar sound lol, learn something new everyday
9:30 WTF! This is crazy excellent.
I love The Protegy
virus ti wavetable sine rider for ring modulator works pretty well for that sound
I tried to recreate this sound for about of last 3 months. And now I understood how simple is it ! Thank u 🔥
Super impressive man! love it!
astounding. Would love it if you recreated other similar 20+ year old classic iconic EDM sounds, riffs, etc
you have amazing skills!
Great work!
Outstanding
Man that's some evil sound design skills
Sometimes I watch tutorials like that and an immediate thought comes to my mind that... I don't know NOTHING about sound design :o
there are some good videos that go over all the samples they used in a given track, and then recreating that track....
sounds eerily similar to the original sample, amazing

9:24 wow ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
The sample was from Dr. No.
Not the main theme, but one of the scene transitions in the first 1/4 of the film.
sounds great . i would modulate the attack slightly to take away the midiness
Half way I was in doubt. Soon as that resonance kicked in I knew you were on to something.. sick sound!
Dam, impressive, as the video progressed, the Member berries became more powerful.
I am in my mid 50's and part of the underground, stage diving and getting smashed before any of you kids were born. This was impressive.
FYI, the original Breathe guitar sound is a sample from some AKAI sample pack; randomly discovered it years ago.
Where can I find it? Thanks! :)
@@rasmussgaard2596 It was an Akai S1000 sample pack, but no idea which one. Happy hunting!
Excellent !!
Full track is on yamaha RM1X
Incredible
Iconic sound...one of the best videos I've seen on the power of Serum and Ableton
Thank you.
Cool job, Sam! Waiting for the new videos!!!
How to Make Main Synth from "Poison" by The Prodigy
prodigy were years ahead of their time
That is close. Very 😎
OMG! Prodigy 😲
Big respect to you man! Keep up with such a unique content.

Asking for a like and a sub before the video is like a waiter asking for his tip before the meal.
Damn, this guy has some serious Serum and sound producing skills!
Very niiiiiice Sam!
Holy fuck this is rocket science for me
Amazing stuff!
Bow to the sound design king. Good job, mate!
I'm reminded of my days playing with Rubber Duck by d-lusion.
Goddamn, I am old when you guys are seeing this as a piece of acoustic art. Bet your parents picked you up at a 2015 rave with this song.
Very detailed decomposition! Cheers!
Breath was not synthesised, main theme its a guitar sample taken from here

Holy fucking shit, you are a GOD
wow. - one of the raddest sounds ever and you nailed it
Where did you learn all these design tricks? Love this content!
Wow I did not expect the resuIt to be as good.
This is rad!!!
immediately after watching went to listen to the original for the 1 000 000'th time. Good job!
Sam looks good in glasses
Great video! Really impressive sound design
AWESOME!!!
Jesus I started watching thinking this is not gonna sound good, but holy shit man, that’s pretty damn close. 👏👏👏
good job, sounds nice
Nice job man. Need to pick up my hobby again :)
incredible
Used to love playing this song in the band, was so much simpler using a guitar and effects board, I had the sound pretty nailed.
so dope you did this but its actually from a sampling CD from 90s "DATA FILE", i have the sample :))
I still wait the day until someone shows me the SebastiAn sound… anywho amazing job with this one
jedi of sound
And to think back then this was probably just a sample run trough a tracker. Epic howto!
This sounds amazing! With the drums was mindBlowing. Great job!
Very cool!
AMAZING!!! Thanks Sam, great great job!
Hey, could you make a tutorial that covers bass synth from Acid rain? That would be great ❤
This is awesome
great work
